Eagles To Workout UConn RB Brown

The Eagles are going to work out UConn running back Donald Brown.  The young running back told Sirius Radio's Late Hits with Ross Tucker and Howard David.

Brown is a tough and multi-talented back who can both be the focal point of a running game as a ball carrier and sure-handed receiver out of the backfield.

He carried the ball 367 times in the 2008 season for 2067 yards.  He's not jet quick but you can see by his numbers a year ago he can be a workhorse.

The key for this kid in his workout with the Eagles will be how well he catches the football.  You know how much Andy Reid believes in the short passing game and that involves throwing the ball to the running backs.

Brown would be brought in to backup Brian Westbrook and eventually take over for him.  That role requires that he be able to do everything that Westbrook is able to do.

This young running back must be able to grasp the Eagles passing games because there are times when the Birds like to split out their running backs.

During these times the running backs will be functioning as wide receivers, therefore they must be able to thoroughly understand the team's passing game and be able to execute as well.

The Eagles can't assume anything with this running back pick.  They must see him do what they need him to do. Do we have to bring up the name of Ryan Moats and Tony Hunt.

The youngster will also workout for the Bengals, Jets and Broncos.
