Whisenhunt Not Showing Confidence In Leinart

Leinart in the pocket If you don’t think Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt is having doubts about handing the starting quarterback job over to Matt Leinart, check out the way he tried to keep Kurt Warner for another year.

Michael Silver of Yahoo sports wrote the following.

“First, as early as last summer‚Äôs training camp in Flagstaff, Ariz., Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt was hinting that the quarterback could enjoy some special privileges if that‚Äôs what it would take to keep him engaged and extend his career.

In other words, Warner could have gotten the Brett Favre treatment, enjoying some of the same exceptions that his fellow future Hall of Famer did with the Vikings this season.”

Warner at retirement announcement He was willing to let Warner take the entire training camp and off season off, in order to keep him around for another year.

Does that sound like a guy who has confidence in Matt Leinart?¬† No it doesn’t, and that’s why the Eagles might get a call from Whisenhunt.
