Bernard Hopkins At The Super Bowl Ripping McNabb

Hopkins Here we go again with Bernard Hopkins trying to get some attention for himself and his upcoming fight against Roy Jones Jr..

He doesn’t have an easy job promoting a fight between two guys who have seen their best days. It also doesn’t help that Hopkins competes in a sport which nobody cares about anymore.

Hopkins doesn’t even get any attention in his hometown despite being one of the greatest fighters of his era.  If he had been born in 1930 he would have been a Philadelphia legend.

Very few sports fans care about boxing.  Take a quick quiz to see how you feel about it.

Who is the heavyweight champion of the world?  What division does Hopkins fight in?

See what I mean?  Interest in boxing is below dog sledding.

He tried to convince ESPN’s Jim Rome to buy the fight, but Rome said he wouldn’t buy the fight for ten bucks.

So in order to get some attention he starts ripping McNabb at the Super Bowl in Miami.

Is it McNabb’s fault that most sports fans in America don’t know who Hopkins is.

Bernard has been a great fighter throughout his career but it’s too bad his fights are boring.

I’ve heard that Hopkins started out his appearance down there as a promotion of the fight but turned into a roast of McNabb.

This is like ground hog day because this happens every year with Hopkins.

“The people now say, ‘Take him to Arizona, he has a house there,’ ” Hopkins said. “But my thing is I’ve been telling you this since after the Super Bowl. At the end of the day, you have a guy that is a front-runner. You have a guy that doesn’t even give a hint that he’s upset. He smiles. He doesn’t show any type of feeling of ‘Damn, we’re so close and we kicked the bucket.”
