Victorino to the DL and here comes Domonic Brown

Most of Philadelphia has been calling for this for a couple of months now. And the day has finally arrived. With the Phillies putting centerfielder Shane Victorino on the DL with an oblique strain, they needed to find an extra outfielder.

But who? Where would they get one? Oh where oh where will they ever find a player who is a good outfielder?

Here comes Dom Brown!

That’s right, the Phillies have finally pulled the trigger and brought up the 22-year old, who was rated the No. 1 prospect in baseball by Baseball America at midseason this year. Ever heard of him?

And I can’t imagine this kid was called up to sit. He’ll play and we’ll probably get our first glimpse of him tonight.

He has been ripping up the minors like nobody’s business, hitting .346 since playing with Lehigh Valley in Triple A. But, I’m glad they waited. When the lineup was in a nasty funk, bringing him up to be the savior would have just put more pressure on the kid and he could have struggled.

Let’s hope the Phillies have made it clear to him that he just needs to go out there and do what he can do. Trying too hard yields poor results in this sport.

Brown hits for the “Cycle” tonight,in order too (Single,Double,Triple then Home Run) in his first game .. Then GM Amaro trades him to the Houston Astros tommorrow for RHP B Myers who returns to the Phils and becomes the new closer replacing B Lidge… Good Grief….

This could be the end of Victorino being a everyday player this year. IF Brown tears the cover off the ball Victorino could wind up being a platoon player for the rest of the year.

Are you crazy Myers has been one of the better STARTING pitchers in the MLB this year numbers wise. There is no way he will become a bullpen pitcher.
