Kolb And Bradley Fail Tests, Reid: “Stewart’s ahead of Kevin right now”

For the second tine, Eagles starting quarterback Kevin Kolb and middle linebacker Stewart Bradley didn’t pass the second phase of their tests to be cleared to play again but they’re making progress according to head coach Andy Reid,

The two players were examined on Monday, then again this morning and could be looked at again on Friday, but that will mean missing practice today and missing practice again tomorrow.

“Right now Kevin is not practicing,” Reid said. “Michael Vick is practicing and he’s getting himself ready to play in that game. That’s what I’m focusing in on right now and as far as the football part of it goes. On the medical side of those two players, getting better and going through the rehab that’s available to them.”
Both players have a number of hurdles to get over before they’ll be able to get back on the football field.  First they’ve got to pass the second phase of the process which failed this morning.  Once they accomplish that they’ll be faced with the third phase of the NFL’s concussion protocol which means being examined by a specialist.
Dr William Welch is the specialist who will then look at Kolb and Bradley.  Their examination had been scheduled to occur on Friday, but the fact that they failed the second phase of the exams means the third phase could be backed up any further.
When you consider the following statements by Reid, who knows when Kolb is going to return to the football field.
“They are feeling better,” Reid said. “I would tell you Stewart’s ahead of Kevin right now, as far as how they feel.I’m going to take this day by day. I’m not gonna tell you they’re in or they’re out, I’m just going to follow the doctors and the testing that (is) taking place, follow that day by day and we’ll cross that bridge down the road, later in the week.*
I’m starting to believe Kolb will miss at least this weekend’s game and next weekend’s game.  I could be wrong but you can believe the Eagles are going to err on the side of caution with both of these guys because of the enormous visibility of these cases.
Stay tuned we’ll keep you posted on GCobb.com

The concussion is the perfect excuse to shelve the Kolb experiment and give the reigns to Vick..I’m sorry but Kolb looked scared to death out there..Plus with the shape of our O-line Vick is the logical choice.

Jimmy, with all due respect a serious injury like this can have serious consequences and should not be taken lightly..While I wish Kolb well even though he’s not a starting QB and the organization should be careful with this injury…Kolb should be placed on “IR” to assure a complete physical recovery while the Eagles look to strengthen the O line and next preseason Kolb can compete for a position. Let’s give Garcia and Kevin Mawae a call for insurance and make a run this year.

We can compete…….Go EAGLES!!!!!

No..If he keeps lowering his shoulders he will..if he slides he’ll be fine. if he doesn’t overthink the situation he’ll be fine..Just play football..and win for God’s sake..were playing the Lions!

songs – not a bad idea but you know the likelihood of that (with them being in their mid-30s).

i actually dont think kolb looked scared, im thinking that he had no time whatsoever and got the david carr treatment. i think mcglynn plays solid enough this year and probably takes over for jackson because this is the 2nd time (but you never know because we love injured players).

vick just had the mobility, instincts and experience to run and thats what he does best. i am a mcnabb fan that thinks kolb can eventually play in this league, but not with our current mess of an offense (and not many QBs can throw without an o-line).

i see vick as our starter and kolb shipped off to a fresh start somewhere else when its said and done. then we sign/trade/draft for another QB to backup along with kafka and go from there…

I would not be surprised if Kolb is out for 3-4 weeks and Bradley at least 2 weeks

I agree wmonell. We need an o-line, but more for running the ball down people’s throats. If we want to go to the SB, we need a big bruising back with a great line.. Oh, and a defense to stop the run so when we ever get to NFC championship game and SB. Every team that passed us in those 4 championship games(and 1 SB) ave 4.7 yrds/carry or more. I DON’T care who is quarterback if we cannot run the ball and stop the run, we won’t win a SB.

Here is question fellas…..lets say Kolb is out the next 2 weeks and Vick gets us 2 wins. Game 4 is against the skins with Dmac coming to town. Kolb is helalthy do you think Kolb gets the start? OR Lets he does and stinks it up and 5 lights us up. Do you think that would be the end of kolb? Could get interesting around here!

If Reid was smart, he would sit Kolb for game 4 for 3 reasons. 1) extra week to heal from concussion is always good. 2) play Vick to hope for 3 straight wins(4 straight games of looking good) 3) to avoid the last question. You play Vick because if he wins and looks good, his stock will go up and u can trade him for a nice draft pick . Or decide to keep him to start the rest of the season

Jimmy Mac you are 100% right. As McAirGuitar found out, Reid’s loyalty only goes so far. When Banner said things had to change, Andy Greed shipped coaches, GM and players out of town. Even that spy DB coach from Dallas. Does anybody else wonder how Dallas looked so good against us and then stunk against minnesota and loss to the Deadskins?

My call is that Kolb will be out until Oct 17th when the Eagles face the Falcons (week #6)
Bradley I would expect to return week #4 versus the Redksins

Beginning with the McNabb trade to Washington, has this season been full of irony, or what?

That is where another team equipped with attractive assets could enter the picture, multiple sources said: the Philadelphia 76ers. New team president Rod Thorn and GM Ed Stefanski – who formerly worked together in New Jersey – could be central to constructing a deal that would compel the Nuggets to move Anthony rather than endure a season-long distraction that ends with Anthony leaving as a free agent after the season. The key pieces of the Philadelphia equation would be the expiring contracts of Jason Kapono ($6.64 million) and Willie Green ($3.98 million), a young talent such as Thaddeus Young, and Andre Iguodala, who is coming off a solid contribution to Team USA’s gold-medal performance at the FIBA World Championships.
It is not clear how Anthony would feel about signing an extension with Philadelphia, a city that is halfway between his New York birthplace and the Washington, D.C., area where he grew up. The Sixers were not on Anthony’s initial list of preferred destinations, which included the Knicks, Magic, Bulls and Nets. Anthony, who is good friends with former Sixers star Allen Iverson, also is aware of how harshly Philadelphia treats its sports stars, a person with knowledge of his thinking said.

very very sad

Carmelo is a very good player, but I don’t think he’s a good fit for the 76ers..
I would lke Thorn and Stefanski relocate the Franchise to Omaha,Nebraska and let Warren Buffett
purchase the club and get some “Old-Style-Motion/Princeton Offense” style in place.
Hire Bobbie Jones o be the new Coach and replace the athletic players on the Roster with
slower, better ball handling and 3 Pt shooting type of players (build around Jason Kapano and Justin Smith).

tydm…we cant trade Vick for draft picks. He’s a free agent at the end of the year. We’d have to sign him to an extension…tehn find a trading partner and as proven in this past off season…no one is going to trade anything for Vick when they’ll be able to get him for free.

Before the deadline a trade is always an option. These next few weeks, a few things will happen.Starting qb’s hurt for all or most of the season. Some teams might come to the conclusion and realize there qb’s are not that good after all(i know what some of u are thinking), or just still need one. Some teams, owners, fans, can’t wait a whole year.
