Eagles acquire Harrison for Bell

In what is essentially an exchange of running backs who haven’t gotten it done this year, Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have sent Mike Bell to the Cleveland Browns for Jerome Harrison.

Harrison kind of was anointed the starter in Cleveland when second-round pick Montario Hardesty went down for the year with a torn ACL. It wasn’t because he was playing so well, he was just kind of the next guy in line. That was until Peyton Hillis took over as the starter.

As for Mike Bell, he’s the kind of guy that you’ll see pop up on an Eagles clip five years from now and you’ll say, “oh yeah, that’s right! Remember they used to have Mike Bell?” But, he certainly won’t be remembered here for much of what happened on the football field. He’s just never gotten it going.

The greatest trade between these 2 teams since
CB S Brown & LB C Gocong for LB Hall (released 1st week of camp) and a 5th Rd pick
who became C Harbor (who is basiclaly a practice squad player for 2010 since he hasn’t been active since week #1) … good grief…

Paulman, check again. If you retrace all the steps, we esentially got Lindley and Sims for Brown and Gocong.

songs, yep, I was wrong about him, he was quite disappointing. See, I can admit it when I’m wrong, and it’s not a big deal because I’m human and we all are often wrong. Let’s hope Harrison does better than Bell did here.

Songs, how nice of you to show up. I believe a lot of us are waiting for you post regarding how awful Kolb’s performance was this past weekend and how he’ll never be an NFL QB and that he is the biggest joke in the league and should be holding a clipboard.

very sad that a 1td 250 yard 103 passer rated game is hailed as this phenomenol performance
ur not comparing him to qb’s ur comparing it to himself thats y u think he did so great and that my freind is very sad
speaks volumes on kolbs play lol

What do you expect out of the guy? Its his first year. It took Vick 10 years to learn the QB possition. All of the top franchise QBs in the league with exception to maybe Brees were awful their first year.

I’m not saying Kolb is the answer or anything, but give the guy a chance to learn before throwing him off a cliff.

philly, I’m not saying Kolb had a phenomenal performance against San Fran but any idiot can see that he played a very solid game and should give credit where credit is due. I just think a lot of you guys are way too quick to judge Kolb when he really hasn’t had a chance to prove himself this year. Lets not forget his two consecutive 300+ yard games last year in his first two starts. And don’t give me the “it was against bad defenses” routine. They were still NFL defenses; one of which won the SUPERBOWL.

Ummmm Micah, Harrison was good for the 2nd half of the season last year which is why he got the starting job. It wasn’t like he was “anointed” as you put without actually being productive. Having said that, I don’t really care. We don’t run enough for the 2nd RB to matter. But if this means I don’t have to see Eldra Buckley running the Wildcat again, I’m all for it.

To Shamu, you are indeed and scholar and a gentleman.
Great research and I stand corrected..
GM Roseman may go down and the greatest wheeler & dealer of his generation
J Harrison actually is better fit for the Eagles Offense than Bell who is not a good blocker or a good receiver which Eagles offense demands…
Harrison can catch the ball pretty well and has a little more shiftiness than Bell who is more straight up and goes straight ahead type of runner which doesn’t fit the Eagles running schemes too well

Sham, not to nitpik, Mark Sanchez and the Jets went to the AFC Champ game last year, his rookie season. The season before that it was Joe Flacco. Yeah they had teams around them but they helped themselves too.

And we still have 5 RB’s and only 4 WR’s on the active roster…why???

cooper is out with an injury, that’s what brought Hall up. I don’t know if Coopers status has changed tho, maybe but I think once that happens Hall goes back to the PS leaving 4 again. Just not enough size IMO.

Sham, there is no room on this site for facts, reason or hope. Everything is black and white, no thought of grey areas is encouraged. You’ll get used to it. Repeat after me, Kolb is terrible and could not ever succeed in the NFL or any other area of life. Andy Reid should be fired yesterday. Joe Banner is the antichrist. Keep practicing and soon you will be a seasoned GCobb.com commenter.

Brees only started one game his first season. The following year, he threw for 17 TDs and 16 INTs. His third year, he threw for 11 TDs and 15 INTs. Look at him now. Bottom line, give Kolb a year before we make judgments about how good he is or isn’t.

Look, some guys come right outta the gate and have the right stuff to make it in the NFL, some guys take time to mature, others are just hopeless. After Marino’s 3rd year would’ve anyone thought that this guy would never ever win a SB?

I hope the rest of the league has as much convidence in us not running as we do, if so we might just hurt someone. Reid is going to run the ball, and run effective, you heard it here. With the talent at WR that we have you have to pass a little more, but I just think that andy is going run that rock fellas. History says no he will not, but things are changing, and hands are being forced and cards are being dealt that can only be played one way. Harrison is being brought in to back-up handcuff McCoy, but more importantly to add more force. The D-line will be much better, samuels will be back hopfully. Watch out Falcon’s you we see a Eagles team do things that you did not prepare for and it will be the death of you.

As Always…………………..LONG LIVE THE EAGLES

Ha pw, not refering to that, I owned up to that, and I am still right, he was a RB in the SB and he did contribute 654 yards and 5 TDs to New Orleans’ superbowl run.

I was referring to ‘very sad that a 1td 250 yard 103 passer rated game is hailed as this phenomenol performance’ – and not even that you were putting words in MY mouth, just that you do it to people all the time. You know who is ‘hailing Kolb’s game v. SF as a phenomenAl performance’? NOBODY. That’s my point, you exaggerate the views that oppose yours, instead of debating what others are actually saying. You only see in extremes, black and white, either/or. That’s weak.

WR Cooper and CB Samuel both have been cleared and will play this week…
Starters not playing will be Vick, J Peters & Bunkley though I think VIck may be able to play if Kolb got hurt. Vick will be ready next week and Peters/Bunkley probably after the Bye Week
