Why Do Mike & Kyle Shanahan Continue To Talk?

Why do the Shanahans continue to talk?  What are they trying to cover up?  They’re starting to say stupid things.  Somebody should tell them to shut up.

It’s starting to look like something stinks about what’s going on in Washington.  They’ve got a team that’s in disaray and it seems that the more head coach Mike Shanahan and his son Kyle, the offensive coordinator, talk, the more I believe that they’re up to no good.

You’ve got the father as the head coach and the son as the offensive coordinator.  Did the father try to cover the son’s butt right after the game, now the son is trying to cover the father’s butt?

The move they made to bench Donovan McNabb with minutes to go in the game didn’t make any sense.  Benching McNabb would have been fine, if they had done it at half time or in the first half, when it might have helped the football team.

You don’t bench your starting quarterback with two minutes to go in the game.  That seemed to be the move of a “Brat”, who was having a tantrum.

They weren’t replacing McNabb with a real quarterback, they were replacing him with Rex Grossman, who immediately fumbled the ball and Detroit scored to ice the game.  Now the Redskins have a team that’s in a free fall.

Why are the Shanahans going to all this trouble to explain why they benched McNabb?  I took the explanation about terminology as the legitimate reason, but they keep on talking.  The head coach comes back and starts talking about cardiovascular conditioning, which is ridiculous.

Now his son is explaining what his Dad said.  Kyle had the audacity to say that they benched McNabb in order “to rest him up and get him better for the rest of the year”.  Shanahan’s son is telling us they’re resting up McNabb before the bye week.

Are you kidding me?  They took him out with two minutes to go in the game prior to the bye week, so that they could rest him up for the rest of the season.

He’s obviously lying through his teeth.  But why?

Why didn’t they just say McNabb wasn’t playing well so we benched him?  Normally if you’re going to make that move, you don’t do it with 1:45 to go in the game.

It’s as if they’re trying to cover their behinds.  The more they talk the more it seems they’re trying to shift the focus of the team’s problems from themselves onto McNabb.

Who predicted before the season that the Redskins with McNabb were going to make the playoffs?  Why the panic?  It was no shame to lose to Detroit.  The Lions with young quarterback, Matt Stafford, Pro Bowl receiver Calvin Johnson and monster defensive tackle Ndamukung Suh are going to beat a lot of teams before the season is over.

I don’t think the Redskins have much talent, now all of their running backs are hurt, their receivers aren’t any good, their defense isn’t anything to write home about, so I’m not shocked that they’re 4-4.  If anything I’m surprised that they’re 4-4.

Who are the Shanahans kidding?  They don’t have the answers. Nobody thought this team was going to be turned around over night.  Other than McNabb, they brought those old running backs into training camp and made the mistake of messing up their defense which was the strength of the football team.

Now they can’t stop anybody and they’re relying on McNabb to turn that offense into a scoring machine.  I believe McNabb and the Skins will battle through the rest of the season, but I don’t see a playoff run in their future.  McNabb will leave at the season and things will get worse in Washington.

Finally garry is right about something. They ought to shut the hell up. More importantly, garry’s boy hasn’t changed one bit. He still acts like a martyr, cries like a girl about how everyone is so unfair to him. Hey genius, look in the mirror. You are washed up. You could never run a 2-minute offense. You throw gopher balls. You never excelled in a pressure situation. It is always someone else’s fault. Must be the defense’s fault. I recall garry asking “what did the defense do?” to explain away his failures in the 4 NFC championship games. He has had apologists like garry and Reid for over a decade here. He still thinks the whole world is against him. He should just retire and live off the more than 100 million Eagles paid.

The Shanahans are slowly losing this Redskin Team and Lockeroom
It’s great to lay down the down the hammer and show whose boss when coming in when taking over a new team, but you do that 3 months ago in camp, but these guy’s are getting ridiculous, continually calling out their best players or throwign them under the bus and these are the players who actually give them a chance to be a decent team (McNabb/Hayensworth/Portis/Hall)
What do younger players think when they see their teams best players and leaders ridiculed in the press by your coaches week after week… This is going to get real ugly I think down the stretch..

Correction from Paulman,
The Shannahan’s are “quickly” losing this Redskin Team and Lockerroom..
They brought in QB J Russell yeasterday for a workout and have JP Losman coming in today/tommorrow for a lockout… what a nice way to build confidence on your current team..
The Way Shanahan ran the Broncos team into the gound the last 3-4 years, with his terrible draft picks, firing Defensive Coordiantors every year, It’s no real surprise to me that he hasn’t made a positive impact with the Redskins.. He has always been in my book, way overrated…

G i posted yesterday up here that this an issue of either father covering for a son, or a son covering for a father. I posted that the offense they are running looks NOTHING like the one he ran in Denver or for that matter the one they ran last year in Houston. Partly because there are ZERO offensive weapons outside of santana moss and Cooley. Zero running game, dont give me that Ryan Torrain garbage. When Denver was good, they had 2 or sometimes 3 guys running the ball down your throat, and they play action passed and bootleged off of that. That being said, they alsohad Rod Smith, Ed McCafferty, Shannon Sharpe, Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson, and some guy named John Elway…lmao!…i think Shannahan is a fraud! Who cant play call when you have a team loaded like that??? The other time he coordinated was some team called the 49ers in the early 90’s…lmao….some stiff on that team too..Steve Young? Ricky Watters? John Taylor? Brent Jones? Tom Rathman?…um im forgeting somebody….of Jerry Rice…lmao!

Hey ReidSucks,

You sound like an idiot with your whole thing about McNabb apologists. The same goes for his detractors who actually sound dumber. You blame every loss on McNabb and his shortcomings yet ignore questions like “what did the defense do?”. Well, what did they do to help win some of the biggest games? I don’t recall many people questioning Dawkings whenever he was beat in a big game for a score, or when he was being owned by Plaxico Burress most of the time Plaxico wasn’t busy shooting himself. As for McNabb and pressure situations, most of that is media fabrication to make things up. You do know that he is second only to Brady in 4th quarter winning drives during his playing time, right? But I’m sure that doesn’t matter to people like you who are only focused on the fact that we didn’t win a Superbowl while he was here. Get a life. You know how McNabb feels and thinks as much as I do, and that’s none. If you want to talk about how someone feels, know them first. I’m still busy celebrating the Superbowls that Jaws, Randall, Hoying, Peete, & Detmer brought this great city. Oh, wait. I can’t wait to see what people like you say in the next decade if we still haven’t won a trophy with whoever is at the quarterback position, will you blame strictly them or will suddenly the whole team be accountable???

They made a mistake and now they dont want to own up to it! Second dont gimme that reid is covering for his players garbage. Mcnabb always had great work eithic. First one in Last one out. Even Vick and Kolb said he had tremedous work eithic. The guys holds his OWN camp in arizona to stay in shape. So i dont wanna here that crap that he dosent have work ethic. He maybe a little soft in the 2 minute drill but work eithic is NOT and issue for mcnabb.

A telling case of Shannahan stupidity: when the Redskins lost to the Texans, a game they REALLY shold have won, they blamed a few offensive plays that didn’t come through as the reason for the loss.

Forget the 300+ passing yards and roughly a gillion points given up by the D in the second half. I think that the Redskins have a coach that’s more single minded and stubborn than any other in the league, to the point he’ll blame anyone but himself.

Why does Mike always look so constipated on the sidelines? Dude needs to find a better way to cope with stress. This McNabb thing is crazy!..I dont buy that McNabb has been some type of Martyr though his career, but for somebody that doesnt get in trouble, is a above average to great player depending how you fell about him, does all the right things off the feild, its AMAZING how he stays in national sports headlines EVERY YEAR!….lmao…controversy all the time, and it seems like he never starts it. Did he ask Rush to make those comments? Did he think T.O was going to hold him accountable for nhis agents shortcomings as a negotiator? Remeber Pam Oliver(with her horse face) on the sidelines exageration of a story, the thumb injury year when he was on the madden cover, then he won like 8 straight after going like 1 and 3..lmao..its crazy!!

Heard from my source in DC… son why did you take Donovan out and put GROSSman in with a little under 2 miniutes left…dad I don’t like him, he’s bigger than I am so I can talk down to him and he might hurt me. Dad…you are the one in charge just insult his intelligence, insult his work habits, and insult his fitness. He plays better when you do that…Gee you’re right I let’s insult him so more, this is fun. Thanks Dad…You’re welcome son, you’re the best playcaller ever… Nepotism at it’s best. Shanahan is a retread that should’ve stayed retired, the game has passed him by. Hire his son as the OC, Wow…

Look the 2 Shanahan’s are 2 DICK BAGS……. one with set of “False CHOMPERS”, and another who is living up to his “DADDY’s NAME and “DADDY” gave him employment because of this horrible economy….. They need to look at Jim Hasslet as a reason why there defense is horrible this year…. The Broncos lost faith in Shanahan and now this year the Redskinz are doing the same! But this is what Donavan chose to be apart of … not to be traded but he wanted to be a Redskin……..

I agree with G about the defense –when needed against the Cardinals they came up short
Dawkins and co caused zero turnovers in fact he got ran over twice down by the goal

They had the Cardinals back in their own territory with a lead –they had a 4th and yards to go near midfield and that would have been the game but the D came up short

I am no big McNabb fan and don’t think he is a leader but teams win SBs not QBs
A team has an offense and a defense

Mister Z- you must be an old hand here with a new name because I heard your dumbass argument before. As for you claim that McGiggles is second only to Brady in 4th quarter winning drives during his playing time, you are a know nothing ignoramus. If anything was clear about his career, it is that he rarely led the team to a win in the waning moments of a game. Perhaps you would tell us which are those games in which he produced 4th quarter winning drives. Get a clue idiot.

Could it be Redskins’ owner decision to bench Mcnabb. that could explain the many excuses. u would think Shanahan has a little more sense then putting Grossman in.

You care to produce some evidence other than your blind bias? Truth be told, fans like you beat this McNabb psychological bs to death. It was never an attribute he displayed but more of a projection by folks like you. “Always someone else’s fault”? The defense? McNabb never did that? As a matter of fact he always played the good soldier a towed the company line much like his coach, Reid. But the same crying-azz fans would question his toughness because he wouldn’t “show fire” or “get in someone’s face” Damned if do, damned if he don’t.
