Kolb to start Sunday against Dallas

Well, this isn’t remotely shocking. It’s actually just telling us what we already knew. Eagles team sources tell Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that Kevin Kolb will be starting this weekend against the Dallas Cowboys.

The team hasn’t said it publicly, but we didn’t need them to. Vick is banged up and it’s a worthless game. Absolutely no reason to play him. Plus, it let’s us get another look-see at Kolb.

“I’m just preparing like I’m going to be (starting) and that way I’m ready to go if that’s what’s called,” Kolb said, per McLane.

This is actually a pretty important game for Kolb. His play in this game – no matter how meaningless – will be the taste that’s left in the mouths of Eagles coaches and executives this offseason (of course provided that Vick doesn’t go down in the playoffs). It could be the difference between whether or not he gets traded at some point and what they are able to fetch in return, as numerous other teams (Vikings, Cardinals, Bills, 49ers, etc) will probably be keeping an eye on him.

Quick,
Someone call the Canadien Mounties and search for Vinnie…
Tell him the Kolb is playing, Kolb is playing…Kolb is playing

“1 by night, 2 by day.. if you still are confused, just listen to the music play…”
A original combo somewhere between the moive “National Treasure” and the Grateful Dead…

A little rumor I heard Micah over the Chirstmas Holiday if you could confirm,
The Redskins offered QB D McNabb to the Eagles For Kolb and that 4th Rd Draft pick,
I heard that Coach AR had to be resisitated for laughing so hard that he almost choked on his Egg-Nog and swallowed his tounge…

this is good…It’s audition for us or the rest of the league against one of our most hated rivals! I hope he does well, because that’s more for us in return.

Vinnie wont be out …its not dark enough.

We should get a sceond rounder at least for this kid. He’s poLished(as in being a pro/good locker room guy) and with the right coach could be a gamer.

And how friggin slow does Chas Hall look? Why dont we let this Colvin dude stay back there..he took one house and got called back. Is he hurt. Andy with these BYU guys ALREADY.

And seriously…that play Chaney made down the seam on a ball thrown at Shancoe was the best play i’ve seen a LB make in years. I mean years!!! I like Bradley and think he could really bounce back given what i saw from him in the past. But how long can we wait huh?

Paulmans early Prediction vs the Cowboys

Eagles win 31-20 as Kolb plays a solid game and is 21 for 32 throwing for 246 yards with 2 TD’s.
(1 to R Cooper and 1 to FB Schmitt) and 1 Int. He does get sacked 4 times and scrambles 3 times for 24 yards. Coach AR awards him the Game Ball afterwards in which Kolb stuns the Locker Room and the media in his Post Confernece interview, that he is giving up Football to become a traveling Jehovah Witness and will be spending the next 3 years in South America spreading the Word of the Gospel to all those in need and in poverty.

Best thing I ever saw at the old Meadowlands was “Box of Rain” as the clouds opened up. Good times.

What Year was that, 1989 or 1990..
Wonder if that was the same show that while Jerry is singing “Standing on the Moon” you could
see a big bright Moon out in the background sky just as it was getting dark and a little Tear in his eye behind his shades . I think they played opened wth “Shakedown Street” and played a real nice “Eyes of the World” that same show

Summer ’89, i think. I bought a really cool Batman shirt with the tour dates on it in the parking lot. Those years are all kind of a blur, was still busy getting the life mileage that leads to better judgement.

Biggest Game of the year. This game is the most important game of the year. If Kolb plays well against Dallas it may solidify a 1st round picck we may be able to get for him. With all the poor QBs in the NFL its not out of the question that someone may give up a #1 for Kolb or a 2nd and 3rd.

Ive been telling people about Kurt Coleman all year. I guess its safe to say after watching the Vikings game again that Coleman was the best defensive player on the field. All he did was make plays. When did you EVER hear Nate Allens name called that much? Just like Chaney being much better than Bradley ever was. I ask the question again. Cant McDermitt even evaluate his own talent on his own team? It took Dixon 2 years and an injury to get on the field. McDermitt is terrible.

I agree Dag about Coleman being a good player..
I see him and Allen starting together by mid next Season and maybe sooner (I think Mickell will be the odd man out..) I envision Allen as the Deep Cover/Centerfielder type of Safety while Coleman is the Safety that’s up in the box, closer to the line of scrimmage and supporting the run defense more.
Now back to the Cowboy Game, I don’t think it’s that big of a game for the EAgfles as far as the big picture goes moving forward for the playoffs, but success and confidense begets more success and confidence , so If they can pull this one out while resting many of the big playmakers like Vick/D-Jax/McCoy/ then this would be huge as they start their march in the Playoffs. The cannot afford any injuries to the O/L,D/L or Secondary for the Secondary is pretty thin right noiw..
As far as Kolb, I don’t see where anyone would trade a 1st Rounds pick (especially this years Draft that has 5-6 legitimate 1st Round QB’s in it..) he will most likely return a 2nd & 4th or maybe even
a 3rd and a 4th.. But I hope for his sake that he comes out and plays well for the Team made need him and It would be good to see how he plays with his teammates sinec he hasn’t played in a while..
He has handled the entire VIck being the #1 Qb situation very weel and seems to be a great teammate, now it’s another opportunity to show the team and the rest of the NFl of what he can do and how he can lead his team to Victory..
I can see 4-5 teams being very interested in him, the Dolphins,Redskins,Seahawks,Cardinals,Titans,
49ers for sure and maybe the Browns,Vikings, Panthers and Raiders..
The Redskins and Panthers don’t have many draft picks to give up so I think they are out
The Browns appear to be happy with QB McCoy, but if they hire Marty Mohnerwig as their next Coach then Kolb moving to the Browns seems to be a great fit..
The Raiders like QB with big strong arms for the long-ball that Owner Al Davis likes, so they are out
this leaves the Dolphins,49ers,Titans,Seahawks,Cardinals & Vikings as the best candidates,
and some teams needs to choose who their next Head Coach first like the Vikings,49ers and possibly the Titans…
Who knows what happens with Vick, He may reject an Offer from the Eagles and go out to the Open Market and get a $100 Million Deal from someone, which leaves Kolb as next years Starter. Kolb is under contract to the Eagles for the 2011 Season so they don’t really have to do anything with him …
Lots of moving and fluid parts… either way, I hope he plays well for the team and himself..

To AS,
I saw them about 30 times from about ’80 to 90′ a couple times a year- usually in Philly every Spring at the Spectrum, then up at Brendan Byrne/Hershey/Merriwaether Post and Washington DC at RFK,
then I moved out to Indiana and saw them every summer at Deer Creek Ampitheatre from ’86 to ’90
which was brand new at the time and a great Venue to see them or any concert at among the Corn Fields.and then I didn’t see them for a while, my final concerts were a 3 show stand late in March of ’95 in Charlotte towards their end of their Spring Tour (and boy they were tired, sluggish and Jerry really looked bad) I remember walking out the Charlotte Colisuem after the 3rd night and I told my wife that this was it, that they proabably wouldn’t be around again which sure enough Jerry passed away August of that Summer.. What was weird is that as bad and worn out Jerry looked and sang, his solos on the slow ballad tunes were phenomenal…but most of the remainder of the shows were off-time, sloppy and appeared that they were not really into it like all the years past, Jerry just looked very somber and was very stationary and appeared listless.. It was a shame to see him at the end, but after so many good memories over 15 years of seeing the band, who was I to complain and if he wanted to continue to slowly kill himself with the Heroin usage, what was anyone to do about it, but I feel fortunate to have been able to see them live as often as I did and over a pretty good time span and have always kicked myself for not flying out to San Francisco to attend a New Years Eve show, which I had 2 opportunties to do in the mid 80’s but never got off my butt to make it happen.. Those were the days…
