Eagles Showing Interest In Mammoth Defensive Tackle

The Eagles obviously noticed the success of having a bigger more powerful defensive tackle in the person of Antonio Dixon attacking the opposing offensive line. Aaron Wilson of NationalFootballPost.com says the Birds have shown some interest in another mammoth defensive tackle.

I’m talking about Hampton’s Kenrick Ellis. He’s a big one standing 6’5″ and topping the scales at 346 pounds. I could see the Birds wanting to have a big set of tackles and a smaller set of tackles.

Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley would be their smaller pair with Dixon and Ellis and the king sized duo. He only had seven sacks in three seasons at Hampton so he’s not seen as a pass rusher, he’s regarded as a run stopper.

If you have a big powerful guy, who can stuff things up against the run, he should be able to push the line back and not let the quarterback step up on pass plays, which is a major help to the defensive ends as they come around the outside.

He’s been projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder, so I think he would have to drop to at least the fourth for the Birds to get select him.

The Birds aren’t the only team showing interest in Ellis. The Packers, Steelers, and Broncos are also taking a close look at the big guy.
The Big fella had previously played at South Carolina but was booted off the team for some reason. Rumor has that Ellis had failed a drug test during that time.

There have been reports that he interviewed well in Indianapolis so quite a few teams have put him back on their draft board.

“I had character issues,” he acknowledged. “I had disciplinary problems. They did everything they could. It just didn’t work out for me. I had to get out of there.

“I had to look within myself and change a lot of things within myself and around me. And after I changed those things, it was pretty much easy after that. I had to realize that I had a problem, and I confronted it and overcame it.”

I’ll bet Andy converts him to a kick returner. I’m laying odds – a dollar to a donut.

runthe, based on what? These workouts? Or are you just throwing a jab at the FO for the hell of it? And you’re saying that in a draft that netted graham, cooper, cheney, coleman, allen, clayton, harbor…. the main take away is Teo’ Nesheim? Really?

run, thanks for relaying the message, I almost made alternative plans.

your middle school vice principal called and said they’re holding you back a grade for lack of intellligence and failure to mature. Big improvement from last time they called saying you were unfit for formal education thought. Good trend, keep up the better work.

the truth is you are both right , shiiler , they had a decent draft of the names you mentioned sadly i think grahm has the biggest chance of being the bust. but they did outsmart themselves, and delete a decent pick with teo . as soon as andy called him on draft day and the dude was freakin sleeping , if i was andy i would have rescinded my pick , i would have called the commish and picked again!

graham is garbage and he was not worth trading up for. he didn’t show anything to prove he’s a first round talent…Now that guy the Giants got proved he belonged. the eagles need to stop trading down only to pick the wrong guy. I’m going to put this out there also……stewart bradley is ass!

he’s considine at the linebacker position and I’m tired of seeing him trying to chase his responsibility down the field.

Another wasted pick.

B Graham is not garbage or a bust, I don’t believe he was worth moving up 11 spots and trading away 2 3rd Round picks to obtain him, but I believe he will be a good NFL DL, not dominant in any way shape or form, but I can see him being a solid rotational DE who can get 8-10 Sacks per Season..
Besides rehabbing and recovering from his ACL Surgery, he needs to improve his strength and his stamina like all young players. Think of Trent Cole when he was a rookie, he had to get biigger/stronger and learn to play at the NFL level, I think Graham physically is ahead of where Cole was when Cole was a rookie, but we’ll see if Graham is dedicated to become the best that he can be and work all year round to improve his game and his body
like T Cole did…If Graham does, then he will be a good player for the next 6-8 years , If he doesn’t then he won’t and will be a disappointment,Graham has the skills and appears to have the mindest to work hard and be the best that he can be, which is about all you can ask for when drafting any player..
