Eagles Seem Ready To Move Kolb If They Get The Offer and The Chance

Eagles head coach Andy Reid isn’t as slick as a good used car salesman, but I’ve never heard him brag about Kevin Kolb the way he did on PhiladelphiaEagles.com to Dave Spadaro. You could tell that he’s taking things to another level, which let’s know that the Birds will move Kolb if they get the right offer.

“People have shown a little interest (in Kolb), and as this thing picks up, I’m sure it will continue,’’ Reid said. “Listen, we’ll sit back and we’ll evaluate.’’

This doesn’t even sound like the Andy Reid we know. It sounds like the Eagles attitude is, we need to let other teams know that he’s available so we can get some offers immediately, so we can be ready to move him as soon as the courts give us the chance.

“He’s ours,’’ Reid said. “Everything else from there is easy. It’s kind of like what I said last year. If people are interested, they’ll come to you. But on the other hand, do we love Kevin Kolb? Are you kidding me?”

“I mean, this guy is a helluva football player. You look at his numbers and the things he did when he had the opportunity to start, and you start six or seven games and you’re the NFC Offensive Player of the Week twice, and all the 300-yard games he put together and the way he commands the offense and all these things, you’re not in a big hurry to get rid of Kevin Kolb.’’

Do you hear that used car salesman talk? This car is so good that we really don’t even want to sell it, but I might be willing if you made me the right offer.

Reid should have some of those cheap gifts to give out. You know the calendars and pens. He should let the other teams get in the car and drive it around a bit.

Boy……get his corny ass outta Philly….trade him to the skins…That will be a gauranteed 2 wins in the column. ..maybe we can get back mcnabb to be a good back up in case vick goes down a few games.

Kolb is ass and if we can get something to help load for a run I’m all for it. He was a waste of a pick to begin with…we could have had a talented player instead of a professional clipboard holder. Get his loser ass out of town…What is his record as a starter? enough said

Mr. Cobb. A used car salesman is usually used in the pejorative, that the individual is misrepresenting the product or exaggerating the value. Are you suggesting that is what Reid is doing here? To me he stated facts, but to you and others here it seems facts get in the way when it comes to the qb situation with Kolb

I look at the Kolb situation as this…
If there are “no trades” allowed by Draft Weekend then he will remain an Eagles for 2011 Season as a back-up and insurance for Vick in case of injury.
If trades are going to be allowed by Draft Weekend, then I think they will only Trade him for a 1st Rd Pick or at least a high 2nd Round pick ((Top 50th Pick overall)
Remember that if Kolb plays out 2011 with the Eagles and he walks via free-agency after the 2011 Season, the Eagles would be awarded by the NFL a “Compensatory Pick” which would most likely by a end of a 3rd Round pick equating to the #100th overall pick selection in the 2012 Draft..
So unless a team is willing to trade a 1st Rounder or at least a high 2nd Rounder this 2011 Draft (if trades are allowed), then I don’t See the Eagles moving him
The only team I see willing to trade a 1st Round pick would be the
Seahawks who have the #25 Overall Pick (due to to their improbabe playoff run)
Other teams like 49ers/Cardinals/Titans/Vikings/Dolphins/Bengals who could be interested would most liklely be willing to trade their 2nd Round picks but not their 1st Round Selections

Paul, address the question raised by Mr. Cobb and Jakedog. Is Reid a snake oil salesman as suggested by Mr. Cobb, or is Reid stating facts, but Mr. Cobb and others blinded by agenda?

To Jakedog,
I think AR is always going to try to cover all basis when he speaks to the Media
for he’s been around too long (and especially in Philly) where he knows that every comment is dissected, analyzed and and never forgotten.. I think Coach Ar would love to keep Kolb for having that security blanket in case something happens to Vick, but at the same time realizes that Kolb’s Value will most likely never be higher.. If the Eagles can get a 2 Draft picks in return (with 1 at least a late 1st Rd or early 2nd Rounder and a 4th Rounder, I think he makes the Deal 11. If Eagles are only offered a late 2nd Rounder with nothing else, then Coach AR will pass and keep him for 2011.. If Trading is not allowed due to no CBA in place by Draft time, then they will definitely keep him for 2011 Season
and take their Compensatory pick for 2012 and who knows, if they keep him in 2011 and VIck goes down with injury, and Kolb comes in and plays well, then Eagles may let VIck walk after 2011 and sign Kolb to a long-term deal.. Lots of scenarios..

Forgot to answer your question directly Jake,
No, I do not think Coach AR is a Snake Oil Salesman concerning Kolb..
I believe Coach AR sincerely believes that Kolb can be a Starter in the NFL and be a good one who can win a lot of games at the NFL level including the Eagles.

Hopefully we can trade this guy for a #1. If we get a number 1 pick? Reid is a snake oil salesman because we all know Kolb is not worth a 1st rounder…

I don’t hate anyone PW, (except for maybe Sarah Palin)
It’s the local Media and the many fans who continue to buy/drink the Kool-Aid and who always think their Philly Teams/Players are better than they actually are and then everyone gets all fired up and pissed off when they don’t win come playoff time.. Bottom line is that most time the Philly Teams/Players are over-hyped, and over-rated with very little attention to what other teams have done to improve, etc, etc…
