Report: Plaxico Burress To Eagles Not Likely To Happen

Philly.com’s Jeff McLane says the talk of the Birds signing former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, when he gets out of jail is more talk than anything else. In his twitter feed he says it’s nothing but Burress’ people trying to talk him up.

“One more thing on Plaxico. All this talk about the #Eagles being interested is coming from Plax’s people, not the #Eagles. Trust me on this”.

The Eagles deciding to sign Burress would mean they would be willing to slowdown the progress of second year man Riley Cooper, whom they are very high on.

I still think there’s a chance the Birds could go after him because he wouldn’t be a starter. They would have a package in for him in every game and that package would be especially strong in red zone plays.

I could see the Eagles being interested. I can see them throwing out an offer, but unless they are the only team interested in him, I don’t see Burress coming here, because the Eagles won’t go into any type of bidding war for him. They will offer what they think is far and have him either take it or leave it. Maybe he would want to come here bad enough to take less, but I doubt it and I doubt the Eagles will offer the most.

I see a few teams who may be interested
The Jets who have all 3 Current WR’s who are Free-Agents (Braylon Edwards,Santonio Holmes and my favorite Free-agent who I would love to see play for the Eagles is Brad Smith..) B Smith can return Kicks, play WR, Play QB can do all kinds of things and is a great locker room/leader type of playter/person.. The Chances of the Jets keeping all 3 of these players is minimal and they will have to spend out big $$ to retain B Edwards and S Holmes.. Plex xould be a nice fit, but it would be a minimum type of Contract interested ..
I see the Patriots,Redskins,Dolphins and possiblly even the Panthers as
possible suitors.. Word in Charlotte is that WR S SMith will most likely be traded, Panther have nothing by young unproven WR’s but did add Veteran TE J Shockey before the Holdout occurred.. maybe the PAnther add a Burress for 1-2 Year deal to help ease the pressure of QB C Newton who will need someone to throw the ball to.. Think of this potential Offense for Panthers
QB — Cam Newton
RB — DeAngleo Williams and Jonathon Stewart
TE — Jeremy Shockey
WR — Steve Smith, Plex Burress and those young WR in waiting (LaFell,Gettis,Edwards)

Not a bad group who should at least be exciting to watch which is way different than what the Panthers have had out there in recent years…

Would it really matter. Reid always finds a way to lose. REID could have the NFC pro bowl team and still lose. I wish REID would find a corner with an unlimited amount of cheeseburgers and see if he can reach the 500 lb mark on the scale!

I think AR is in the 400’s.. I am really surprised and disappointed that Owner Lurie doesn’t send him to a health farm or have some type on contractual clause about Coach AR maintain a better overall health and fitness program to get his weight gain, nutrition, diet and overall health in better shape.. He would set a great example to many players and employees within the Eagles Organization about Discipline, Focus and Doing the Right things and right now, until he gets his heatlh, and weight issues under control, I think he is losing a great opportunity to get better for him and his family’s sake and well as making a statement with his Players and Assistants
