Reports: NFL Labor Agreement Could Be Reached In Two Or Three Weeks

There are plenty of positive reports coming out of the recent NFL owners and players negotiations, which are taking place at a secret location in the Washington, D.C. area. They say a deal could be done in the near future. When I say near future, I’m talking about a deal being completed in a couple of weeks.

Mark Maske of the Washington Post made that report today and over the weekend, Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal tweeted the following on his Twitter account, “Told optimism is so high in NFL, players talks over labor deal that expectation is for a framework agreement in about two weeks”.

John Clayton of ESPN reports that there are five owners who have been requested by the players to sit in on the talks. Those five owners are Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots, Clark Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs, John Mara of the New York Giants, Jerry Richardson of the Carolina Panthers, and Dean Spanos of the San Diego Chargers. This group of five happens to be the same five who sat in on the talks last week.

Of course it’s too early to take those reports to the bank, but they are good to hear. There’s even been a report today that the lawyers are back in the meeting room because they’re getting into the detailed area of the talks.

It sounds like both sides have sobered up and truly considered how foolish it would be to let billions of dollars be lost because of an unwillingness to reach a deal or compromise.

Maske reports that the NFL owners have been told to have a flexible schedule for next week’s meetings in Chicago, in case they have to put in some extra time voting on proposals to complete a deal with the players.

Stay tuned.

I just want it to be over, I hope they are getting closer. I could not possibly care less how they split the money, as long as the game continues to be what it has been. Just get a deal done.

Dealing with your wife or girlfriend during the winter with nothing to watch on Sundays……… SMH……. Your excuse of not wanting to go to the store with her because your excuse is “Baby the game is getting ready to come on”! Isn’t going to fly with her anymore!!!!!

I like the fact that both sides supposedly ditched the lawyers and are trying to work this out themselves. This will go a long way to improve fan relations

They better not F^@K this up! They already killed the fun of the draft & the usual off season transactions. D. Smith & Goodell are asses. They better redeem themselves.
