It Was A Bad Idea For McNabb To Do YouTube Video
BREAKING NEWS, Eagles, News, Quarterbacks Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011
I know the players are getting eager to show what they can do when training camp and the season starts. Still, why did Donovan McNabb do a YouTube video to let everybody know how great of a 2011 season he’s going to have.
There aren’t any GM’s or head coaches of any NFL teams who will be influenced by the video. He could have saved time and effort. Everybody will be watching the games he plays, if and when he is released by the Redskins.
Does anybody think this was a good idea?
McNabb is also having a big birthday weekend in Chicago to raise money for his foundation. He’s having a party on Friday evening called “Vanilla Soul”. Then on Saturday, he’s having an all day outdoor/rooftop party. The birthday events are fine because he’s raising money to donate to charities, but he should have skipped the video.

@Real+@jbird……. So we can honestly say the Eagles draft terrible in the early rounds and find gems in the late rounds…… Look at the guys that play well that were late picks or wasnt originally drafted by the eagles…… Notice they are average!!!
Asante Samuel……. I give an A- drafted by the NE Patriots
A. Dixon…… Drafted by Wsh and perhaps the better DT on this whole eagle squad!!!!
Kurt Colemen……. 7th round pick who played well in his first season got a ok B-
Jamar Chaney…… 7th round pick who played limited but deserves a B+ with his efforts that shows he can be a starter in this league……
T. Cole 5th round pick who is solid…. made the probowl a few times and is proven to be a solid DE…….
M. Fouko played pretty well this past season…. Late pick who can become a solid weakside LB or strongside…….
Bunkley and Laws and Patterson??????? Laws played a little better but not worth 2nd round talent……. Bunkley and Patterson aka the BP GAS BROTHERS need to finally come around…. NO PROBOWL apperences throughout their careers……. Make you think!!!!!!

Jakedog…McFraud should grow his hair out so he can look like the old bench warmer for the Indiana Pacers named Granville Waiters. Looked like a cartoon character that you might see on Boondocks.
Is anybody believing in the “good aggressive plan?” or do we all feel the gentle tickle of smoke being blown up our asses? I’m thinking, Jason Babin, Richard Marshall and Joseph Adai. Good “value” picks. Think cheap and short term. Just stop gaps until Graham, Marsh and Lewis explode onto the scene. Then all of our best players like Samuel, Peters, Cole, Vick will be washed up or gone. But don’t worry we will always be compettive. And always getting close makes for better blogging, sports talk radio, and ticket sales than winning championships. I think the Eagles figured that out. We are the new Red Sox.
Red Sox have won CHampionships in recent years, maybe a better comparioson is the Chicago Cubs.. Good Grief…
paulman….I meant before 2004. They had a legion of long suffering diehards just like us. I think they lost some luster since then in a weird way and I think never winning just works here for good theater the same way. Lets face it. Everyone wants to win a championship. Ralph Wilson and Mike Brown want to win too. But what are they doing? Is Jeffrey Lurie willing to trim ten mil from his end of season take to do so. The answer is a resoubnding “NO!” So how bad does he REALLY want to win a title. Does he want to be a trillionaire now?? When is it enough money to say let’s just have some fun with this?
jbird – if you think the decision (from Lurie/Banner’s perspective) is – profit, or a more aggressive push to win a SB…than you sir are misled. They don’t pocket the money they don’t spend on free agents. That’s just absurd. They profit from ticket sales, concessions, etc etc etc… but they don’t take money out of the player salary pool and put it towards profits. That’s just not the way it works. They have a working budget for player money, and they keep some in there for flexibility. Learn up and then spread the word – it’s a shame some (or many) fans get swayed by the media into not understanding things…
G:
Nothing wrong with this at all. Good luck to him. I’ll cheer him on, unless he’s playing the Eagles. It’s time to put whatever bad feelings we fans had about his shortcomings behind us. I had ‘em. I don’t even like the man. But Enough already! I hope he plays for the AFC West and rips up the conference.
Well said Schiller. People conveniently ignore the facts. It is far more interesting to sling untruths and stay angry. Preach on.
True dat, Schiller. But If the rumors are true about having to spend 90% of the cap, they’re not going to have a choice. I wonder if Roger Blowdell will have the beanbag to punish teams that don’t.
hiu
McNoHairLine just shave it off man, its no use having bits and pieces of hair on the top of your head your only fustrating yourself… at the age of 34 hes looking more and more like his father… ugh and thats not a compliment…
BTW, does any body know why he is throwing himself a birthday party, when his birthday isn’t until November? Am i missing something here, or did he finally completely go apeshit?
Yeah Schill..Learn up and then spread the word…..damn thats good
DD – great question – My guess is that Garry fumbled some details (I love your website Garry, and that you are a former player, and Eagle, but your editing is either nonexistent or just a plain failure). I looked at those ads for the parties, and I can’t find the word ‘Birthday’. Granted, my vision isn’t excellent and the print is small. But anyone else think Garry just accidentally inserted the word ‘birthday’ here?
I think Gary made too big a deal of this little 10 second blurb. McNabb has earned the right to say he’s going to have a great year whenever he feels like it. My only problem is that “Don’t write checks your ass can’t cash” is appropriate here and it’s not because McNabb can’t have a great season next year. Everything depends on where he is and whether he starts. Consider Shannahan’s post Elway seasons so far, be realistic about how well or poorly coached the current team McNabb is with is. If he’s in a Redskins uniform Shannahan is not going to start him or it’s going to be back to musical chairs at the QB position, so he won’t even have the majority of the beginning of the season to compile his passing yardage like he had last year.
Schiller I can see that all of the good support you’re receiving is probably helpful, but you’re wrong. Like every other business at the end of the year to Eagles organization has to report every nickel they’ve earned (including “Salary Cap” money) as as profit or business expense, how they divide or what they spend money is irrelevant as is the term “Salary Cap” it only receives that label internally and only until the end of the year. I’m pretty sure that money that doesn’t get spent on players is given out as bonuses, used in various organization pet projects, equipment, renovation etc. all to minimize how much get taxed by Sam.
Butch, I appreciate your point. But basically, what you are sayng when you say “your wrong” is “I have a differing theory, also based on assumptions and lack of actually knowing how the $ of the Eagles works, but I think my guess is closer”. Look, neither of us know, but I’m sticking with my understanding of it. Whether or not the report the leftover money as profits, poop, boobies, or whatever, they still retain the money for next year, organized however they want. And I say, because they’re not morons, that the player salary pool is organized as a separate entity from the pocket money for Lurie and Banner etc…. but that’s just my opinion – which I say is WAY more logical and probable than yours.
Schiller, my questions exactly. This is just an off season get together party, I think or McChoke is the biggest egotistic, maniac, in the world. You said “POOP & BOOBIES” in the same sentence, EWWW! We call that a pound cake. BWAHAHAHA!!! LOL!! Your a funny man Shiller…..
More key news no one is talking about right now…..The Libyans women and children are being killed by U.S. NATO forces..They are killing the same people they claim NATO was there to protect…Libyans did nothing against America.
Haitians are dying at a vast rate while the western world licks their chops on the excessive oil reserves off the shores of Haiti. Genocide…Now go back to your regular programmed lives.
McNabbs hairline looks like a cul-de-sac lol…
