Vote Victorino In Final Vote For All-Star Game

Currently, the Philadelphia Phillies have four players on the All-Star team: Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Placido Polanco.

But with the creation of the “Final Vote”, the fans are given the opportunity to select the final member of the All-Star team among five players.

This year the Phillies are represented in the “Final Vote” with outfielder Shane Victorino being selected. He will have to receive more votes than his four counterparts: Todd Helton, Ian Kennedy, Andre Ethier and Michael Morse.

Here’s a quick rundown of each player in the “Final Vote” contest:

OF Shane Victorino, Phillies
.299 average
9 HR
34 RBI
.371 OBP

OF Andre Ethier, Dodgers
.322 average
7 HR
41 RBI
.391 OBP

1B Todd Helton, Rockies
.323 average
9 HR
38 RBI
.393 OBP

1B Michael Morse, Nationals
.299 average
15 HR
46 RBI
.349 OBP

SP Ian Kennedy, Diamondbacks
8-2
3.01 ERA
97 SO
1.09 WHIP

As seen above, Victorino’s stats do not stack up well against the likes of Ethier and Helton, so he will need all the help he can get. Go on MLB.com and search “Final Vote”. Be sure to cast your vote for the Flyin’ Hawaiian.

On the other side, the American League “Final Vote” consists of the following players: Alex Gordon, Adam Jones, Paul Konerko, Victor Martinez and Ben Zobrist.

why would i vote for victorino? i love him and all… but him and rollins are the two dumbest baseball players in the league. everytime the pitcher gets up with 2 outs… those idiots make an out with the first damn pitch thrown to them. put ethier in there, at least he deserves it

Well according to The Daily News, Victorino leads the vote after Day One.

eagles4life I agree. This articles mindset is whats wrong with the NFL probowl. Too much of a popularity contest and the quality gets watered down because of it.

Phils have 4 legitimate All-Stars on their Squad (Halladay,Hamels,Lee and maybe Howard)
Polanco is a Poven Pro and quality solid MLB PLayer, All-Star is probably pushing it though he got off to a great start this Season.. His Batting average has dropped by .50 points over the last 6-8 weeks which is not good..
A good case could be made for Madson but I am glad some the young Pitchers will get some time off to get re-focused for the 2nd Half of the Season and as far as Victorino getting voted in, I think OF Ethier,Pitcher Kennedy or even young stud 1B Morse of the Nats all deserve to go to the All-Star game more so than Victorino…

It’s interesting that Victorino was placed on the ballot ahead of Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen. Both CF’s, but McCutchen has been the heart and soul of that Pirates team.

I wish the Pirates somehow end up back in the NL East.. It’s stupid to play them only like 6-8 games a season anymore. I miss that rivalry and the PNC Park is one of MLB best baseball Parks to see a game in my opinion..
