Temple Football Sets School Record For NFL Rookies

Seven Temple Owls were signed to rookie free agent contracts this week. The seven rookie free agents combined with Muhamed Wilkerson, the first round pick of the Jets and Jaiquawn Jarrett the second round pick of the Eagles makes the 2010 Owls the largest class of rookies to make the NFL in school history.

Former Owls signing rookie free agent contracts include wide out Michael Campbell (Jets), tight end Vaughn Charlton (Steelers), line backer Elijah Joseph and defensive tackle Eli Joseph (Packers), linebacker Amara Kamara (Chiefs), guard Colin Madison (Ravens), and tackle Darius Morris (Texans).

Obviously this is not the most exciting news coming out of free agency this week, but it is a positive sign for the hundreds of thousands of Temple Alumni in the Philadelphia area. It’s great news that their once embarrassing football program is heading in the right direction.

Temple opens up its season Thursday, September 1st , against cross town rival Villanova at the Linc.

It’s a real shame that Coach Al Golden isn’t around to Coach for a few more Seasons for he built a strong foundation and a up and coming program the right way.. I think he has some NFL Coaching Potential in a few years.. If he gets Miami turned around and contend for a BSC or ACC Championships, he will sky rocket and get some opportunities in the NFL
