Eagles Sign Two Defensive Tackles, Anthony Hargrove And Derek Landri

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with defensive tackles Anthony Hargrove and Derek Landri. It’s not a surprise that the Birds would sign a couple of defensive tackles with Mike Patterson collapsing today at practice and Trevor Laws injured his knee.

Hargrove (6-3, 272) is a seven-year veteran of the NFL, playing in 87 career games (25 starts) with St. Louis (2004-06), Buffalo (2006-07), and New Orleans (2009-10). Hargrove, 28, has posted 306 tackles, 16.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He was a member of the Saints’ Super Bowl championship squad of 2009, contributing 42 tackles and five sacks in 16 games (6 starts). That year, he was also voted by his teammates as the recipient of the Ed Block courage award. In 2010, Hargrove saw action in 14 games for the Saints and finished with 51 tackles and one sack.

Landri (6-2, 290) is entering his fifth NFL season after spending his first four years of his professional career in Jacksonville (2007-09) and Carolina (2009-10). The 27-year-old Landri started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2010 and posted 43 tackles and three sacks. He was acquired by the Panthers off waivers from Jacksonville on December 4, 2009.

While with the Jaguars in 2007, Landri recorded a sack and an interception of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger in an AFC Wild Card game at Pittsburgh. He also recovered a fumble in the closing moments of that game to seal the win. A fifth round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2007, he starred at Notre Dame as a nose guard, recording 10.5 sacks among his 161 tackles. He is a product of De LaSalle HS in Concord, CA and a former high school teammate of Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew.

Good pick-ups.. I saw Landri alot last season while he played for the Panthers, He’s very quick and has good feet for a DT.. A blue collar type of player who goes all out on every snap, not the biggest guy out there but very active and wouldn’t be surprised to see him stick as the 4th DT/Situational DT Pass-Rushers on the final roster….

Samuel is gone and I have to believe a deal is close. . The reason is EVERY single position on this team a FA has been brought in G, T, TE, QB, RB, WR, DT, DE, CB and safety. Not 1 LB not 1 out of ALLL the FA brought in has been a vet LB. You would think just for competition. The LB are so young. I cannot believe this was done on purpose. They have to know someone will be released or is avaiable in trade.

These were great picks… they really are going all in… they must be pretty confident with there LBs… ive noticed at andys press conference today that when someone asked him how good is this team he got a weird smirk on his face usually meaniing that he know something that we dont… the team they have out there right now is no comparison to what they will have out there tmr morning at practice.. That team doesnt compare to what we had last yr or the yr before that…

Guys another thing i thought about and posted something similar on a different post, is that the eagles keep acquiring these team captains and 1 round picks players and guys that have won SBs, and throwing them all together making up a monster team… These guys may end up signing for longer terms if we win it all… but i ll hold back from SB predictions we still have to play, and develop chemistry which i feel will work very well, the egos wont get in the way… This is team is ready to compete, they just have to prove it on the field starting tomorrow morning…

Any seen First Take this morning? Skip Bayless has the eagles behind the Patriots as “free agent winners in 2011” Says we signed no difference makers Nmandi is not a difference maker and no one really cares about Cullen Jenkins. Thinks the best signing we had is Ryan Harris. What an idiot.

These were good depth signings. Skip Bayless is a FEM tool. He is a well known Philly hater. He can go choke on his boyfriends meat.

Skip bayless is hilarious, but how wrong he is… Whoever got Nnamdi Asomugha won free agency bottom line, but we went far and beyond any and every team in the nfl in regards to our acquisitions… its not even close. We ll be battling with the packers for a trip to the SB if everyone STAYS HEALTHY… Skip bayless will change his mind, we ll make him, he wont have any other choice…

LB has been our worst postion the last 7 years. We have been searching for capable LBs ever since we needed to bring Trotter back. Now the Eagles are telling me that a mid round rookie and 2 young late round draft picks are starters? On top of that what happens if one got hurt? You have brought in not 1 vet to challenge.lol. I cant believe they will go into the season with this group. We have 20 DBs and safeties, and 50 WRs under contract.

You can tell when people are subtle haters…The Pats are not even close compared to our offseason…and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they haven’t won squat since they have not been able to record other teams practices or get their playbooks…

The Eagles will kick ass and take names…19-0 hoist the trophy undefeated season and will be the first team to unseat the undefeated Dolphins…

Watch the whole league hate…I love it
