Only Ten Carries For McCoy, While Eagles Were Being Blown Out

Ten carries against the NFL’s twelfth ranked rush defense.  Ten carries to keep the time of possession in the Eagles favor and keep Tom Brady off the field.  Ten carries for the NFL’s best running back.

As we’ve seen time and time again, Andy Reid and the Philadelphia Eagles abandon the run game and it ends tragically. This time, LeSean McCoy, the league’s leading rusher and touchdown scorer only carried the ball ten times. With only six runs in the first half and four in the second half, McCoy had his lowest number of carries since week four against the 49ers, the league’s best run defense.

Shady only managed to gain 31 yards on his ten carries, a 3.1 yard average. The Patriots, who averaged only 2.9 yards per carry, stuck with the run to keep the defense guessing. Their running backs ran the ball 29 times. The league’s 15th ranked rush offense ran the ball 29 times. On the other side, the league’s number one rushing offense only ran the ball ten times with their running back.

According to a CSN Philly report, defensive line coach Jim Washburn and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg got in an argument on the sideline because of Mornhinweg’s lack of running offense. Washburn was reportedly angry about his defense having to take the field after short drives.

After storming out to a 10-0 lead after just six minutes and thirty-seven seconds, Tom Brady led his offense to three touchdowns in just over six minutes. During that time, in the Eagles two possessions, McCoy didn’t touch the ball. One drive was a one play drive that ended quickly with an interception. The other included an incomplete pass, a sack, and then a Vince Young run out of bounds after eight yards.

On Sunday, the NFL’s leading rusher wasn’t a factor. He only touched the ball 14 times in the game for a total of 61 yards. With Michael Vick, the supposed leader of this offense, and the team’s leading receiver out of the game, the Eagles biggest playmaker touched the ball less than one-third as many times as the back-up quarterback.

Somehow, McCoy still managed to maintain his lead in the league for rushing yards. With his first quarter touchdown, he gained sole possession of first place for the league’s touchdown scorers. Yet, after the first drive, he only carried the ball eight more times in the remaining 57 minutes and 43 seconds.

After the game, McCoy was quick to say that he thought the offense would focus more on running the ball because the Patriots “weren’t the best” against the run. The young talented back never questions the play-calling, but the fans have been for years.

In this week’s installment of Andy Reid saying “terrible job by me and my football team today” and “we have to do a better job there” Reid was asked about the lack of running plays. Reid’s answer; “We have to do a better job there.” Didn’t see that one coming.

On a short week, the Eagles head across the country for a Thursday night game against the surprising Seattle Seahawks. Seattle has the league’s eighth best rush defense allowing exactly 100 yards per game. Michael Vick will likely return and maybe Reid will ease Vick back in and give the ball to Shady. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

I’m excited to concentrate my thoughts on a new coaching regime. Not to thrilled about Cowher, took him 13 years. Although once he got a legitimate QB under center only 2. Gruden may be overrated, he inherited a talented team and got them over the hump. OK, hold on a second……..hmmmm…….

Ever since the Dallas game, when Shady chewed them up, Reid has stubbornly, arrogantly & stupidly underutilized him. I knew it would happen, as soon as the media pointed out to Reid, at the ensuing press conference, that Shady had a career day, that won them the game, & asked Reid if he has changed his play calling to run the ball more. He is a rotten, egotistical, arrogant, condescending, SOB, who thinks he invented the game, & is incapable of changing his predictable & failed ways. HE HAS TO GO IMMEDIATELY!!!

If you ask Reid’s Butt Munches, “Left-Cheek Schiller” and “Right Cheek Navy,” running the ball is a thing of the past.

That’s why I don’t ask those experts anything.

Good Morning!

Jack Del Rio just got fired….would Laurie actually fire Reid during the season?
To answer my question…NO.

In fact, my prediction is that Reid actually stays in some front office capacity, with a new head coach hired. The bad thing is that in his new capacity, Reid will have input into the hiring. Let’s hope that he does better than his 2am selection of Castilo!!

When/If Reid gets fired, is this team rebuilding or are we in need of a new approach to possibly gets us over the hump.?..given the money invested in both sides of the ball which way do you guys see Jeff Lurie going ?

I see Lurie potentially selling the Club..
It will kill him personally to Terminate Coach AR, it’s just the way he is..
He is very loyal, (to a fault)..
2 Things everyone needs to keep in mind if the EAgles fire Coach AR

#1) What becomes the status of QB Vick who the Eagles committed huge $$$ over the next 5 Season and who does not fit the Pocket-Style of QB play that many other Coaches employ..
#2) How do you think will be repsonsible for hiring the next HC… Yes,that’s right, Joe Banner and Howie Roseman who are money guys with limited Football Knowledge..

To take advantage of the current players, their skills set, that are on the Roster and the Schemes they run, it would probably be better to bump Coach AR up to GM/President of Football Operations if they want to try to win a Super Bowl within the next 2 Seasons..If the Front OFfice wants to blow this team up and replace the entire Coaching Staff and current Philosophy (Small but Fast roster) then it will take 2-3 Years just to get the Eagles back to competitive football which is about where they are now..
So the big question remains, if you clean house, then expect a few dry seasons of no playoffs as a New Coach and Staff most likely would want to rebuild this roster in their own likeness and philosophy and that will take a while , meanwhile there will be fan fall-off, drop in merchandise and ancillary revenues and business that are created when a team is succesful..
It depends how Lurie & Banner want to look at the state of the Franchise, and think of the Short Term versus Long-Term success and my gut feeling is that Lurie will feel most comfortable keeping Coach AR involved in some capacity whether it’s as HC or in the Front Office..I do not believe he will terminate him completely and put his Franchise in the hands of a “unkown” and I also think that Lurie is aware that Banner & Roseman are not Football people and would lrather them handle the finances, conmtracts, etc, etc and have Coach AR oversee the Football side of things.. (Scouting.Draft,Coaching Staff and Roster Management)
Either way, this final 5 games of the Season will determine many Players and Coaches and probably the direction of this Eagle Franchise or the foreseeable future. If you see Players and Coaches to start “Tanking it” and thinking of the Off-Season,(like Sunday) then maybe you blow the entire team and coaching staff up and start over but if the Eagles and their core of players get off the carpet and fight, play hard and finish strong, then maybe you bring everyone back to try 1 more time in 2012 (which is what this Coaching Staff is signed thru) maybe this year was just a freak occurence where all long-tenured Coaches will have a down year once in a while..
It will be interesting to watch and the man who has a lot of tough decisions to make over the next 2-3 months is Owner Jeff Lurie…

And drummer you can lick the brown spot right between them – again –

I didn’t think it was possible drummer – but you are an even bigger bitch then I imagined – um – notice the Navy – that would be the college Navy – you are farmiliar with college – college football – (cause your posts on pro stuff other then to list every mistake Reid has made for 13 years) is extremely limited – well – you would notice Navy doesn’t pass much…. nah – that’s too much for you to understand – see Drummer – I used to block for a fine gentleman named Napolean McCallum – but I am gathering 6th grade was about the last time you stepped on a football field…

guess you also never got the hint I was an offensive guard and OL coach – nah… you live in your own fantasy world – you just make shit up and then wait for your boy songs (hey you two can be right ball and left ball and between the two of you you might have enough to form a small pecker between you) to give you a reach around

Remember, we Eagles fans here kept saying if the Eagles stick with the running game exhibited against Dallas our team would be back in it?

If?

Did we not know Andy would revert back to his old, tired ways?

And if we know….you think opposing teams know that if they get a lead at any point in the game, Andy will abandon the run?

Of course they know!

The NFC is not weak like it was when Andy came here and the window he once had while our front office had a jump on how to balance salary have closed. Reid’s philosophy that once won games are now his flaws. You’re not surprising anyone anymore by passing while the opponents defense thinks you’re going to run. They know you’re going to pass!!!!!

So, they use Nickel as the base and play the pass and get stout against the run on 3rd & Short.

What Andy doesn’t understand about the run game is that gives your offensive line a chance to wear down the defense which makes it easier for you to pass. It also gives your defense a chance to get their wind, and keeps the other team’s offense off the field.

Yes, Andy you are right!

This is a passing league!

But you can not have continuous success in the passing game without the threat of the run.

New England was in 10-0 hole and did not abandon the run knowing our defense would now be playing the pass with a lead.

Andy Reid is our bigges problem…..Not Juan Castillo, not Marty, not the
wide 9.

Andy!

Without Andy their would be no Juan Castillo, and with all the changes in the off season the problems in the redzone for defense and offense remains the same.

So, was our atrocious defense last year McDermotts fault?

Was there limited OTA’s and limited minicamp last season?

Why everyone else open for scrutany with the threat of being fired while Reid keeps his job?

He’s the damn problem!

Don’t run the ball with the top runningback in the league…His draft picks in the last 2 years have been atrocious.

Give me a break. Look at our Safeties! Look at our Linebackers!

Who once told us the linebackers are not as improtant in our scheme?

FIRE HIS ASS ALREADY.

I REFUSED TO BUY TICKETS AND MERCHANDISE THIS SEASON AND WILL NOT SPEND A DIME ON THIS TEAM UNTIL ANDY IS GONE!
