Ilya Bryzgalov: “I will try to find peace in my soul to play in this city”

What are the Flyers going to do with goallie Ilya Bryzgalov?  He’s got a ten-year deal with the team, so they can’t give up on him too soon.

He has been horrible in goal so far and even worse in front of the mic, but the Flyers are married to him.  Here’s his latest statement.

“You know, I think it’s an easy life when you can blame one guy…’it’s a bad goalie, it’s the goalie’s mistake.’ It’s easy to find a scapegoat. You point to one guy and say we’re always losing because we have a bad goalie, but I think it’s the wrong philosophy. I know I was frustrated in my game today and I know I have to be better and I will continue to work on this, but….I will try to find peace in my soul to play in this city”

This is what being a goalie is all about. I am surprised that he has lasted so long as an NHL goalie without mental toughness. He got booed for a season of subpar play, not just one game. Even though that one game was awful.

Put some vodka in the water bottle so he can relax and play.

They are screwed as Bryz is done for … These damn Russian players are too
weak-minded to play in demanding US Cities, we have seend it time and time again.. Whoever decided to sign this Comade to a 9 Year Deal should be fired immediately and yes, that’s GM Paul Holmgrem.. but Owner Ed Snider share in the debacle too, sinc nothing happens without his approval to begin with.. I always read and hear how the Flyers are committed to winning every year which I agree, that that they are aggressive in upgrading their roster most off-seasons, but you have to be smart about it and this is where the Flyers fall short in my opinion.. It’s been 40 since their last Championship and stupid bonehead decisions like morgtaging their Future on the Eastern European/Russian Goalie has to be one of the worst all-time acquisitons in not only Flyer history, but in the history of Philly Sports and of course, I hate to remind everyone “I told you so”, but you have to stay away from long-term committments with these Eastern European/Russian players and now the Flyers and their fans will have to suffer the consequences of such a stupid move….

JP this looney toon needs more than just a bottle of vodka..this guy cracks me up…PEace in your soul? I bet you he had peace in his soul when he signed a 50 million dollar contract…..god forbid people except him to live up to it or close to it atleast. Im not a hockey expert at all but when your giving up 3 goals on like 12 shots then your ass should be booed all the way back to Russia.

Did anyone else see in last nights game, when he ducked on a knuckle ball shot & missed it, for a goal. I have never seen a goalie give up so many $#!tty, cheap goals, since Hexy’s five hole! Thank God, it didn’t go to a shoot-out. I would have just turned it off, then. This dude is more than just lost in the woods, he has his head in his @$$ & has very slow reaction time, & it looks as though he is really slow, or just not trying. I hope that Homer can rid themselves from this abomination of a contract, or they are done for the next 8 years. BTW, the next time Snyder butts his way into GM affairs, I would tell him to stick to signing the checks, & go back to the f^#@ing press box. When he came out during the off-season & admitted to pushing Homer to sign this stiff to whatever the cost, I knew it was going to be a disaster. If I remember well, only Paul & myself, were the only one’s to not like the move, & were ripped for it. Homer was fortunate to rid himself of Carter’s & Richard’s abomination contracts, but this time I don’t think he will be as fortunate.
