Donovan McNabb Claims He’s The Most Criticized QB In NFL History

Defending yourself in the public never comes across well.  It never comes across well.  Would somebody please tell Donovan McNabb that.

McNabb continues to cry about something.  He was on ESPN First Take today calling himself the most criticized quarterback in the history of the NFL.

The statement was made that Tim Tebow was the most criticized quarterback in NFL history

Somebody is going to have to rescue McNabb or he’s going to let his mouth totally ruin his public image and his future career in the media.

Donovan stop crying.

I thought McNabb may have had a good point when he was talking about the Redskins and RGIII… but this is just more than enough…

Its whiny and sounds like a guy who knows he’s washed up and is throwing his excuses out there

C’mon Donovan!

Was Donovan the most criticized QB in the league absolutely… I mean Rush Limbaugh, when he was an analyst on ESPN, went so far as to say “the only reason Donovan got the attention for his play is because the league wants to see a black QB do well.” It doesn’t get much worse than that. But I have to be honest here. As much as I liked Donovan and respected his ability and accomplishments, I’m was disappointed in him. Donovan capitulated. He let the media and some of the idiots who call themselves fans talk him out of his game. All while ignoring the fact that Donovan was carrying this team year after year to NFC championship games all by himself… on his legs. In the words of Jon Richie on ESPN’s First Take “Yeah but Donovan never had any receivers… I mean who did he have to throw to… Todd Pinkston?” It’s interesting how many injuries McNabb had once he started running less… ohhhh wait maybe he’s frail… yeah that’s it at 6’4 240lbs he’s frail. So much criticism for Donovan yet when he finally got a bonafide #1 WR the Eagles got to the SB (and then they were cheated out of a victory, but that’s another article in and of it self).

Donovan… yes you were heavily criticized and often times unjustly by people who no little to nothing about football, but I have to be honest… you capitulated and that cost you the ability to prove your naysayers wrong.

@ lionsden

I agree on #5… He decided it was important to prove he could win without running and he took away one of his best weapons… Once defenses realized he was pre-occupied with being a classic pocket QB, they stopped worrying about his legs… He didnt make defenses pay like he could have.. He was never really that accurate of a QB anyway, so it really disappointed me when I realized he wasnt going to use that added dimension like he used to..

there is obviously a very delicate balance that a QB who can run needs to strike up, but that weapon is way too valuable to just tuck away in your back pocket…

sometimes you just need another 1st down…. another chance to win.. and I feel like he left alot of ‘food on the table’ in games that we lost and could have possibly won

Of course he was criticized more than most. Hell even his own fans would criticize him. The bullshit about he threw nothing but dirtballs but fail to mention the 30,000 yards he threw for. How convienient. How about all the wins and probowls. Was he a HOF QB no.Alot of QBs arent. I can name 20 teams whose QBs have been horrible over the last 20 years. Matty Ice WTF has he won? Dont here shit from Atlanta. Romo has won 1 playoff game in how many years lol. comical. Phillip Rivers? Shiver shiver. Yeah hes special. No bashing him and all that hes done.. Carson Palmer is laughable couldnt hold McNabbs jock. How many playoff wins? and so on and so on. Vick gets the same shit. They know what it is really about.

Who cares. We need a tackle. We need a safety. We need olb. We need a d-tackle and we need a whole lot of other things. But we don’t need to hear mcnabb whine and cry. If he was or wasn’t the most criticized qb in the history of the NFL, WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

– good points, must agree.

That been said, nobody wants to see McNabb boo hoo over how criticized he was. True or not, If he doesn’t learn to put that behind him, make it joke, make light of it etc. people will not want to see him in the role he so desperately wants in front of the camera. Nobody like sour grapes. Swallow it and move on iif your going to be in the public eye.

SMFH!!! BOO f^#@!NG HOO Donovan. You didn’t get the job done, & were a shell of your former self, when you left here. Get over it, your done! Stop bitching wining & blaming everyone else. Just like TO, living in denial! As for everyone bringing up the racecard, it’s perplexing to me. Fans didn’t like him because he was a company yes man, annoying momma’s boy, a choke & never had the balls to stand up for himself. He admittedly never liked this playing for this city, was never one of us, & never let go the draft BOOING! They wanted RICKY WILLIAMS, GET IT. THEY WERE BOOING THAT, NOT YOU PERSONALLY!!! YOU WERE MOSTLY BELOVED HERE & WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE TOP ALL TIME, TEAM QB’s. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK HEAD! YOU CHOKED, YOUR COOKED, MOVE ON CRY BABY!!!!!! GO BUY A NOOKIE FOR THAT PROBLEM!!!

BTW, he said he is the most criticised QB, in the history of the NFL!? I guess he has forgotten guys like Moon, Elway, Kelly, Fouts, & locally Cunningham & Jaworski, to mention off the top of my head, who all got lambasted by their fan-bases & media, for various reasons. ALL QB’s ARE RIPPED! It isn’t because of their RACE, their CREED, or their BELIEFS! It comes with territory! DMac, you choked, you are toast, & can’t play anymore! STOP BEING A MOMMA’S BOY, DRAMA QUEEN, GET YOUR BALL’S OUT OF YOUR WIFE’S PURSE, & SIMPLY GOOOOO AWAAAAAY!!!

I agree with you guys that Donovan was a bit of a whiner and needed to be coddled way too much for my taste. In my opinion, if he had been more of a leader, his career would not have ended the way it did. But Donovan got it from all sides. I agree he was a company man and a “yes” man and this is why I say when it all came to a head he capitulated. For that I will always be disappointed in him. But having said that he’s the best QB the Eagles have ever had. And I make this point again… after coming up short in all his previous attempts he finally got to the SB when he got a bonafide #1 WR (and yes I do believe he choked when he got to the SB) but, he also had his best statistical season when he had that WR. This can not be ignored. But ultimately I put this on Donovan because he was the QB and as a QB if you know that your receivers can’t get it done and yet you still try to get it done purely as a pocket passer because of criticism then you live and die with the weapons you chose to use.

Yes, I agree. Donovan needs to let it go and keep it moving.

BTW… McNabb choked worse than Mamma Cass. For the younguns that don’t know, she was a singer from the Mamma’s and Pappa’s pop group that died from choking on a ham sandwich…

It’s pretty accurate and I mean how much damage can you do when you’re telling the truth…really? The dude has been aired out publicly multiple by multiple people for totally illegitimate reasons and he has the right to air some people out if he feels like it. Having said that the Eagles should re-sign McNabb on Monday and Trent Edwards is hot garbage and McNabb isn’t.

Those other QBs may have been criticized locally, but McNabb constantly caught a wide angle national barrage fairly consistently from all types of unexpected places and all the dude knew how to do was win games.

After watching the video I don’t even understand why Gary brought that up since it was less 30 seconds of a 15 to 20 minute discussion. It makes Gary look worse and seem like he’s crying about McNabb having a national audience on ESPN when he’s going to blow something WAY out of proportion like this.

It’s not even like McNabb attempted to turn a Tim Tebow conversation into a Donovan McNabb is the most criticized QB in history conversation.

For a player eho exuded such calls and dignity during most of his playing Career, he is now coming across as a whiny, victim which is not going to go over well for him in the long run, people will even forget that he was a very good NFL QB with these childish, attention getting comments he has been making lately..
I stated this for a number of years, McNabb was the best QB fin the Eagles History, but he is not an elite or HOF QB and this recent behavior and comments by him prove to me that he is not HOF Worthy and will stain his reputation as time goes by.. You have to realize when it’s over as an athlete and move on with the rest of your life, he seems to be having a very hard time in doing this which is kind of surprising in my opinion for I thought he was smarter, more mature and basically above of this ..
