I don’t care much about the Nationals either Jake, but as a baseball fan, they have put together a much more talented squad for now and the future than the Phils and have much more athletic,younger and a hungrier roster than the old,broken down Phils do nd since the Phils will now have to compete with them every season, is the reason why I am concerned about them and other teams like the Braves and Mets in the NL east for if the PHisl can’t beat their Division foes, then there are no Playoffs in the short-term Future for the Phils..This is why I care so our Phitin’s don’t end up sucking for the next decade or so ..

Paulman, too bad nobody cares about the nationals except you and the few who show up to support them instead of the phillies in that park, and if amaro didn’t do such a poor job with the bull pen, the phillies would be in this race

Nat’s are built for the next 4-6 Seasons and will dominate the NL East

Paul, you did call it! you have also called for the demise of the phillies for the last 4 years. It’s about time you go it correct!

baseball is a sport you can play into your mid 30′s very,very well. Its not like football where 30 is the bench mark for deteriation.

The reason the phils played like shit this year is certianly not just because of their age. Thats foolish!

I recall many laughing at me when I called the Washington Nats winning the NL East with the Bravesnot far behind and the Phils as a 4th/5th Place Team back in Febuary/March..
All I keep hearing & reading are excuse’s on why the Core of Phillie Players became so mediocre so quickly as a group….It’s called Age, the Phils Core are all past their primes and in their twilight of their Careers (except for Hamels/Papelbon) but Halladay,Lee,Utley,Rollins,Howard & Polanco, c’mon guys, you think these oldtiomers are all going to bounce back in 2013?? A couple of them will adn couple of them will get worse.. It’s what happens in Athletics.. It’s a young man’s sport mixed in with a few Veterans, but not the other way around.. .

bugsy i think all the young arms in aaa have been used in the bp this year. i think cloyd is the only new pitcher we could see although next year we could get a good look at adam morgan who has been pitching well this year for A and AA.

on another note im starting to get very excited about Darin Ruf, the guy is killing it in Reading, batting 314 with 27 homers including 8 homers in his last 10 games. the phillies moved him from 1st to lf which tells you they are considering him. Also Tyson Gillies is healthy and playing very good baseball too. I am praying we get a look at Ruf this year in philly, guy is a power righty!

Shooting to finish the season at .500. Looking forward to extended playing time for Brown and hopefully we see Cloyd at some pont. Would also like to see any other young arms that they are considering for the bullpen. Let’s get an early start on spring training.

It’s a shame the Phils can’t play the Marlin’s every game for they would have a good shot at being above .500, but at least the Starting Pitching as a Staff is been much better lateley which is what it needed to be for them to be a competitive/playoff team.. Hopefully they finish strong and make it tought for the Teams ahaed of them to clinch playoff spots..
