I think Thortonn deserves a chance on the roster to show his ability to be productive. Mike P. is a steady player but not a play maker or game changer. Dixon can do what Mike does. He can be put on the IR.

@eagles0... you're the same dude who wrote a few days back that Harbor was terrible and needed to be dumped. And now you post another crass remark.
Of course, your implication doesn't match with Washburn's public comments on his skills. At any rate, I'd agree that no conscientious doc should ever give the OK to let him play "trench warfare" head-first either. Patt needs to retire and enjoy a healthy life with his family.

OMG, It will be so hard to replace his 2 sacks a year. What will the team do? Maybe Brandon Graham playing on the 3rd team will help replace them.

Patterson is much more effective in the Wide 9 with an aggressive pursuit, but The Eagles need to be smart and put him on IR for the year to open a roster spot and to see if he can really recover from this fully.

He should retire. He should have never played last year. He took a major risk, by doing so. He should just ride off into the sunset, while he's healthy. Not to be insensitive, but in a football sense, he is no big loss on the field anyways, & IMHO, if he didn't have this issue, he would have already been out of here. He has always been nothing more than a mediocre DT. He's a nice enough dude, but nice dudes, don't help you win games.

Sorry but not surprised to hear about Mike Patterson. I stated all Off-Season that he would not figure in plans for a return in 2012 and would most likely remain on PUP list until he is officially IR and out for the Season..I really expect a medical settlement to be reached where he retires but that wprobably won't happen until next Off-Season. Patterson's situation is unchartered water for all involved, The Team, the NFL and of course Patterson himself and teven the PLayers Union.. We all know that Head Injuries/Concussions are big time on the Radar for the NFL and the Players Union . You have Millions in Lawsuits by ex-players, Widows & families of Players who committed suicide from what some say were due to severe head injuries over a long course of time.. What Team or even the NFL as a League wants to take the Chance of Patterson returning to the field where Football is a violent/full contact sport and where he could sustain a major injury or perhaps worse.. There has never been a doubt in my mind that would miss the 2012 Season and the Eagles sent the message when they Re-signed Derek Landri back in Free-Agency that they were moving on without him..Now with the development of Thornton and Draft Choice Cox, they really don't need him anyways but Coach AR loves Patterson who has always been one of his favorite players, so my guess is that Patterson goes from IT to PUP so he can collect his Salaray in Full for 2012 for this is how Coach AR likes to take care of players when he can..Next Off-season will be the time to figure what Mike Patterson's long-range plans are as far as Football is concerned
