A Timeline Of The Andrew Bynum Era

I am trying not to be that mad about this situation. I mean, all he did was go out bowling for Christ sake.  It was not like he went out to the club and got a little tipsy and tried to do the “Percolater’ or something like that. All he did was go “Glow-Bowling”. Well, I am actually guessing that it was glow bowling. I used to love that at “MacDade Bowl”.

At the same time though, I want to put this dude on house arrest. Setup that electrical wire crap around his house and put a sensor on him. So when every time he tries to get out its zaps the heck out of him. Too much?

Let’s try to have some fun with this. What else can we do? We could flip-out and just starting swinging at everyone that we come in contact with. Lets try this one first and move on from there..

Bynum’s Sixers Era..

Early August.. Adam Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports tweets

There are other players involved in these fluid talks, but a framework of the possible deal includes Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington going to the Lakers, Philadelphia guard Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Los Angeles center Andrew Bynum moving to the 76ers, and Los Angeles forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Afflalo going to the Magic, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

I am doing the “Percolater”, “Running Man” and the “Roger Rabbit” all at once. Yes, that can all be done at once..

A day later.. ESPN’s Marc Stein reports. that the deal is official..

A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron AfflaloAl Harrington,Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams. In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

It’s official!!! We got Bynum! Quick, someone pass me my inhaler..

August 14… John Mitchell of the Inquirer reports that Bynum will have a German knee procedure..

According to the source, Bynum is not feeling any pain in his knees. However, the center wants to explore any options that will help to prolong the healthy status of his knees. According to the source, Bynum was so impressed with the results that Bryant experienced last season that he agreed that exploring the procedure was a viable option.

I am thinking to myself cool, Kobe had it done. A-Rod had it done. It worked for them. Hooray for the ‘Deutschland“!

August 15…Bynum’s and J-Rich’s presser. Bynum’s quote..

I’m leaning towards making this my home” Never seen anything like this.’ Talking about fans..

Awesome. We got out building block for the next TEN years.  I need to go change my pants.

September 21…We get the update that Bynum had the procedure and all is well from the Courier-Post.

“The treatment takes blood from Bynum’s knees and cartilage, and then makes a specific syrum that is re-injected back into his knees around the patella. The assesment will take a week and Bynum will be back in time for training camp before the beginning of pre-season.”

Thank you, Baby Jesus!

September 29…Our good old friend Charles Barkley chimes in on Bynum through an interview with NBA.com

“I like Andrew Bynum. I think he’s a very good player,” Barkley said. “But the stress level he’s going to come upon now is going to be totally different than anything he’s experienced in his NBA career.”

Oh, Charles you are funny..

October 1… Media day! The day that we remember when Kwame Brown told a reporter that he taught Bynum everything he knows. Also find out that the Sixers are shutting down Bynum for 3 weeksKwame’s quote..

“I taught him everything he knows. I told him if you can score on me, you can score on anyone.”

OK, then…

October 24… The target date for Bynum to start practicing. Instead, the Sixers announce he is out indefinitely. Bynum’s quote..

“It is progressively getting better,” Bynum said. “I am not as sore. They are being cautious. The doctors, the team, we are all cautious because we want to avoid any kind of setback. That is where we are. I am being reevaluated and I will be alright.”

Best case scenario, Bynum misses the first week or two. Worst case scenario, the sky is falling…

November 11… All was quite in “Bynum Land” until Bob Cooney of the Daily News writes a story about it…

Since we were told on Oct. 24 that all updates on the health of Andrew Bynum would come through DiLeo, I asked him whether he could give an update. I was directed by him to ask public relations director Mike Preston. When asked, Preston said there is no update, so DiLeo wouldn’t be talking. It was the second time during the week reporters asked about the health of the Sixers’ prized possession (the Inquirer’s Bob Ford asked in New Orleans), only to be quickly told both times “no update.”

OK, now I am about to freak out..

November 12.. The Sixers finally come out with a statement thanks to Cooney..

After a visit with Dr. David W. Altchek of New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery and a new MRI, Bynum was permitted to resume low-impact exercise for two weeks, followed by three weeks of conditioning on an anti-gravity treadmill. If these steps are completed without any setbacks, Bynum will be able to return to basketball-related activity, which would be December 10th.

So this was the plan all along. Hold him out until Christmas so he is fully healthy. I get it now.

November 15.. The “Pimp Juice” is flowing!

November 18.. Bynum has a “set back”. Confirms that he got hurt while bowling. Bynum’s quote..

“I didn’t do anything,” Bynum said. “I didn’t twist it or fall. I just kind of broke off cartilage and it made the bone bruise bigger.”

Really? The sky is falling.

November 24.. DiLeo announces that Bynum is out indefinitely..

“The bottom line is Andrew is out indefinitely,” DiLeo said. “We don’t know when he’ll be back. Only Andrew can answer that question — his body can answer that question. Basically there are no timelines.”

Man, this blows. The life of a Philly sports fan…

The Guy doesn’t wan to play for Philly.. He wants the Brightest Lights of the NY Knicks,Brooklyn Nets or back in Los Angeles.
My guess is that he won’t play 1 Game for the 76ers this Season
I’ve hears he’s put on 20-25lbs and not in Basketball Shape at all and remembe rhe hasn’yt played since last June..These big guys sit around for 3-4 months and it’s over for them short-term which is all he was for the 76ers to begin with.. 76ers rolled the dice and came up short like every other Philly Team has recently..

how many times do i have to explain to you people…we give him the gold, he’ll start to play…why would he risk his knees this year without his money? he needs a longterm commitment, a little loyalty from his team first before hes gonna risk his knees for him.

So you mean “the gold” will fix his cartilage??!! Oh wait.. tell Bynum that Obamacare has the fix for both his legs as well as his brain.
How ’bout the guy show his enthusiasm and loyalty first… hit the practice floor with his teammates. Oh wait… “Practice? Practice? Who needs practice?”

Don’t give anything to Bynum! What has he earned? The sixers will have plenty of room next year under the cap. Please don’t give money to damaged goods and bury this franchise. He has never played a full season in his career.

bynum has too much class to come out and say it publicly, but he wanna know where his golds at.

tony dileo wont budge because he thinks hes a medical risk…hes gotta realize the only risk is letting bynum take his rested knees elsewhere to someone that will show him where the golds at and he’ll deliver for them like he did for LA.

money solves a lot of problems in sports

Dude, did you eat paint chips as a kid, get too many concussions, or are you a tard?!? WTF are you talking about? The $16.5M salary he’s collecting, to sit his mutt @$$ on the bench, is being paid for by the Sixers, NOT the Lakers! What kind of drugs are you taking?

The guy’s track record is very questionable at best
76ers did a good job of getting out of some bad contracts with
Iggy/Brand last off-season so why add another one with this Bum
What’s another . Season or 2 going to mean in a long run without him,
He’s a Cancer and a malcontent, move on without him and use that $$ for a Player who will show up and Play and be a Team Player
76ers are not a Top 4 Team in the Eastern Conference regardless of Bynum’s Status so plan for the Future and use that $$ for 2 Solid Contributors
The Knicks and even the Heat have some age creeping up and the Bulls are still a ?? Without a 100% healthy Guard Rose

In order to not just have given the kid $16.5M to promote the Afro due the Sixers should at least offer to match or marginally exceed any one year deal he might get in the off season. I doubt very seriously there are any teams willing to give Bynum a multi-year contract based on his injury history compounded by him probably not stepping on the court at all in 2012-2013.
