Report: Chiefs Very Interested In Geno Smith

GenoSmith12There’s nothing like a ball carrier making a good head fake to make a tackler miss, or a wide receiver giving a defensive back a good head and shoulder fake to get open in man-to-man coverage.  It’s also good if you are a franchise that wants to get a king’s ransom in a trade for the first pick in the draft.

Enter the Kansas City Chiefs and Ian Rappoport of the  NFL Network.  About an hour ago he tweeted the following; “Word from Chiefs scout: They’re fascinated by Geno Smith comparing him to a young McNabb.  They love how he throws.  Need to study deeper”.

Now Andy Reid is comparing Smith to McNabb.  The rhetoric is starting to amp up.

Are Reid and the Chiefs serious about drafting Smith or are they trying to smoke out some of those teams who are desperate to draft the guy who is considered the best quarterback in the draft.  Are the Eagles one of those teams?  Answer those questions for me.

Stay on the quarterback watch today because this is USC’s Pro Day, which means Southern Cal quarterback Matt Barkley will be throwing.  The young signal caller was considered the best quarterback in the nation before the 2012 season.  A mediocre season for himself and the team has lowered his ranking.  He separated his shoulder during the season and was still rehabbing during the NFL Combine, so teams will get the chance to see him throw today.

No NFL GM is dumb enough to fall for this as actions speak louder than words and KC’s action screams WE ARE TAKING AN OT @ #1 and nothing will change that.

Quite frankly I think Ian Rappoport is an idiot for even putting this in print as it is completely false. There is 0% chance they pick Geno at #1, although they could make another trade to get him later but highly doubt that after the idiotic haul they gave SF for a middle tier (being very generous) QB in Alex Smith

Cmon its Andy Reid lol. Total smoke screen. They traded for Alex Smith to be the starter. Luke Joeckel will be the #1 pick. Book it!

I guess Andy Reid likes Alex Smith more than McNabb because he doesn’t like Geno enough to draft him to play ahead of Alex

Only way this works for the Chiefs is if they actually draft him and wait to see who offers picks for him- then again….. they miss out on their OT by doing that so….. not gunna happen.

It would have to be a Trade agreed up before the Draft on during their “Time on the Clock”, there is no way any Team Selects a Player at #1 with hopes to Trade him for fear of Drafting a Player you don’t really want or need if you already made the move with Alex Smith who is maybe just Turning 30 and has a good 3-4 Years left..

GOOD! Take him Hindenburg, & start the ball rolling, on ruining another franchise! I don’t think their is another GM, that is going to fall for this BS smokescreen. Maybe with our, or Oakland’s pick, then maybe they’d bite! Try again FAT MAN!!!!
