Eagles Sign Huge Rookie Offensive Tackle

MichaelBamiro1Yesterday the Eagles signed huge free agent rookie offensive tackle Michael Bamiro of Stony Brook college, who stands 6’8″ and weighs 335 pounds.  Bamiro should have been in this past year’s draft but he mistakenly thought he had another year of eligibility.  Recently the NCAA informed the youngster that he is no longer eligible to play college ball.

Rather put him in the supplemental draft, for some reason the NFL made him a rookie free agent with the ability to sign with whichever team he wanted to.  He decided to sign with the Eagles

Former Eagles offensive tackle Tra Thomas has been training the young offensive tackle at his workout facility, 7 Deuce Sports in Medford, New Jersey.

“I think he’s a solid athlete, someone that kind of fell through the cracks,” Thomas told Philly.com on Tuesday. “He has large hands, he bends well. We worked on both right and left stances; he’s coachable.”

After taking a look at the huge offensive lineman workout on Comcast Sportsnet, I think he’s a project, who will probably wind up on the practice squad.

I loved the signing he is learning from Tra Thomas, This guy and Lane Johnson could be our Tra Thomas/ John Runyan for the next 10-12 yrs excellent signing he is a mauler and fast this isn’t a camp body player. This guy in 2 of his 3 years allowed 2 1,000 Rushing Yard Seasons for 2 different backs this tells us that the team is run first. And Depth is secured.

I see him possibly replacing Dennis Kelly on the Depth Chart (4th OT)
as Kelly moves inside to Guard meaning the end of the “Danny Watkins” experiment…

OL in 2015 (from Left to Right)
L Johnson, Mathis, Kelce, Kelly & Bamiro..

No I mean replace Johnson permanently as a fixture on that offensive line. Lane Johnson is not a LT. I know you see him as something special.. I don’t.

The reality of drafting him was a mistake. Won’t be long just wait, and see,…..

I think he will be fine at RT and a potential All-Pro in 3 Years Time
I don’t really envision him as a LT at the Pro Level..

Paul, This is where we disagree. I don’t see a potential all pro at RT, or anywhere else…….at all.

Time will tell GMCliff, just like all the Draft Picks across the NFL,
Give him 2 Seasons and let’s see what he can do..
I don’t expect him or any Draft Selection
(Dion Jordon, Ziggy Ansah, Fisher, Joeckel, etc, etc to cone in and dominate or make a major impact their a rookie Seasons)
I see 3-4 PlYers who will excell because they were elected by the right Teams and in the right System
OLB Harvis Jones of the Steelers
WR/Returnnan Tayvon Austin of the Rans
WR DeAndre Hopkins of the Texans
Safety Eric Reid of the 49ers
OLB Jaime Collins of the Pats
Many of the others will be a work in progress as most Rookies are, regardless of where they were chosen

If this guy was in the draft, in what round would he have been taken? Anybody know? Cliff, Paul?

He was projected as a late 5th Rounder by most .. I think his Size and Athleticism alone would have intrigued a lot of Teams.. but the lack of quality competition would be the big question and hard to gauge since he did not participate in any All-Star, Senior Bowl, Indy Combines events..

I am sure many Teams would have given him workouts and see how he performs, understands the game, etc, etc…

**Eagle News
Drag-Racing & Dangerous Driving Charges Dropped for LT Jason Peters as he paid a $656 Fine to a reduced charged of “driving without a muffler” which again just goes to prove it’s not the Color of your Skin that determines the outcomes of Court Cases, it’s the amount of resources you have to hire “Effective Lawyers” to work the “system” … Case is closed per Monroe,La Attorney’s Office…. Peters needs to keep clean for this is his 2nd incident the last 2 Years (the other causing a distrubance nad failure to listen to an Officer in NAshville,Tn while attending a Car Show)
Peters earns $10.75 Million this and $10 Million next Season, but Lurie & Company are not going to put up with his behavior and bad press very much longer, regardless of how good a player he is..
