DeSean Jackson: “Michael Vick’s got a lot of confidence in himself”… “I think he’ll get the job”

DeSeanJackson2Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was on ESPN’s First Take yesterday and he had plenty to say about the Eagles quarterback situation.  To nobody’s surprise he told he expected Michael Vick to with the team’s starting quarterback job.

“In my opinion, honestly, I don’t want to be put on the spot, I know y’all gonna do me like that, but Michael Vick’s got a lot of confidence in himself. He’s been there, going on 12 years in the NFL, I think he’ll get the job,” DeSean said on ESPN’s First Take via Phillymag.com.  “Nick Foles is a great, great talent coming in from Arizona, actually a Pac-12 guy. He has the hype, he has the skills as well too. Going into camp, I think Michael Vick will probably be the starter, but we still don’t know. I think Chip Kelly’s gonna keep everybody honest and keep everybody open.”

“From Day One, when Michael Vick actually came in… they tried to switch his playing skills up a little bit, try to [have him] sit back and just be a pocket passer,” Jackson said. “First off, Michael Vick is a quarterback that uses his legs first and foremost. When things break down, that’s what he’s got to depend on. He can’t sit back there and just take hits.

“To try to get a Michael Vick to stay in the pocket when things kind of shut down, that’s hard to do, and expect him to just pass the ball, pass the ball and not use his legs. So as long as he’s still able to use his legs and do things like that, I think he’ll be alright.”

“Running is hard for a quarterback,” Jackson said. “You can see what happened to RGIII, taking those hits, it’s a brutal game. The NFL is no joke, so as long as you can get down and slide, do things like that… which I encourage Michael Vick to do, get down bro, we need you, we need you to learn how to slide man…”

I believe 2013 will be th final Season for #10 who needs to step up his game after 2 lackluster Seasons.. He better bring his “A” Game every week and
Fine tune that attitude or Chip Kelly will look to trade him after the Season
D-Jax is due $12.5 Million in 2014 & $12 Million in 2015 & $10 Million in 2016
Which none of this guaranteed.. Catching 45-50 Balls a Season with 2-3 TD’s is very replaceable with Players at 1/8th the Cost.. No excuses D-Jax!!!

The first week-10 Days will show Kelly & Staff which Players have been doing their Homework and have picked up and learn his system,
A slow start to Camp by Vick will be a major dissapointment and a major red-flag for Vick’s future as an Eagle..
Kelly has been putting it out there that practices will be up-tempo with coaching individual player in the evening during film sessions
If Vick hasn’t used these last few weeks wisely,
Foles will jump ahead of him for the #1 Spot and not look back..
Should be interesting to watch..

and D-Jax. I want them both gone in a big way.. D-Jax we will have to wait until after next Off-Season, maybe he rebounds with a big Season but I really expect him to sulk and wimper since he won’t be running deep routes all game long and he doesn’t like contact and will be asked to make tough catches, screeens, bubble routes and block and if he’s not uyp for it..
D Johnson, R Sheppard or others will step up and do meaning his ass is going to be on the sideline sulking.. I can just see it now and come to a head about the 10 week of the Season or so…

Those are some stupid comments by DeSean Jackson.

Maybe DeSean missed it but Michael Vick had the best season of his career in 2010 playing in Andy Reid’s offense (100.2 QB rating – 62.6 % completion percentage). He also ran the ball over 100 times and lead the league with 6.8 yards/att and 9 rushing TDs.

Andy Reid didn’t stop Vick from running with the ball – NFL defenses stopped him… From the day the Vikings took a page out of Jim Johnson’s playbook and shut Vick down in week 16 of the 2010 season things have not been the same – and they never will be again.

The Read/Option will not make Micheal Vick a star again, but it might make him a cripple.

The Read/Option will be a thing of the past after next year, and QBs like RG3 and Russell Wilson, and Colin Kaepernick will continue to thrive on their quarterbacking skills. Mike Vick can not do that, and everyone knows it… Vick is a one trick pony if ever there was one.
