Chip Kelly Must Learn From His First Loss

ChipKelly1A loss is a setback when you fail to correct the wrong doing.  Accepting blame, assigning responsibility, practicing execution, preaching relentlessness and moving forward with optimism; this is your test Coach Kelly.

Your Eagles failed on Sunday.  You are responsible for several components, some which you have acknowledged and others we anticipate resolution with come Thursday night.  The Kansas City Chiefs provide your next opportunity to succeed at the NFL level.

Fact, the Chargers exposed more of your weaknesses than the positives demonstrated versus the Redskins.  Fact, the Chiefs present the greatest test thus far.  Their record indicates they are better, even though one of the wins came at the likes of the semi-pro Jaguars.

What is your game-plan with your line-backers to limit Jamaal Charles who can catch the ball out of the backfield?   The bigger and more physical type wide-receiver was able to take advantage of your secondary; Dwayne Bowe makes his living doing just that.  The Chiefs play a 3-4 with a strong front seven.   Your quarterback struggles with base 4-3 reading when calling an audible.  What pictures will your assistant coaches hold up to regain that fast paced offense that often came to a halt on Sunday?  What will your defensive coach do to stop the bleeding and on-slot that the opposing offense just took to you?  You can’t change everything, so where do you start and where does it end?

The “Andy Reid” return will attract attention, as will the Donovan McNabb retirement ceremony.  Fact, old faces are returning home.   This side-bar and media frenzy is just that, you are the predecessor after that “era.”

Your pride means everything to you.  You lost a game, it was going to happen.  We expect you to learn from it.  You already have, and we expected these growing pains and for more to follow.

We are die-hard. We have your back along the way coach.  Be humbled by defeat and hungry for redemption.   Send Andy Reid to the podium, clearing his throat and giving non-answered excuses for why his team lost the game.
