December 22nd Eagles-Bears Game Moved To Sunday Night At 8:30pm

LeSeanMcCoy5The Eagles five-game win streak and ascent to the top of the NFC East has been the talk of the city.  The run for an NFC playoff spot has also gained the attention of the NFL television schedulers.

The Birds game on December 22nd against the Chicago Bears has been moved to Sunday night at 8:30pm on NBC.  You’ll be able to see it locally on NBC10.

Last night the Bears humbled the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 45-28 in what turned into a shootout.  Backup quarterback Josh McCown of the Bears threw four touchdown passes in the Chicago win over the Cowboys.

Now the Bears have a tough decision on their hands.  Should they sit down McCown who has been red-hot as the team’s starting quarterback and put starter Jay Cutler back in there?  Or should they keep Cutler on the bench and keep McCown in the starting spot?

Bears should roll with McCown. I think he has looked really good. How has he only been a backup his entire career? I get that he has some stud WRs in Chicago but the guy looks far better than Cutler ever has.

Cutler was force feeding Marshall too much. Jefferies is a terrific wide receiver that was obviously under used earlier this year

I’d leave McCown in until he loses (or longer if Cutler isn’t ready). I think Trestman was a good choice for head coach and once he has a healthy defense (next year), the Bears could be a potent team.

It will be a tough task for the Eagles secondary to defend Marshall and red hot Alshon Jeffery. Should be a high scoring game. Bears run D is weak. Mccoy should have a field day with those gapping holes

Now very worried about this Vikings game.

Coming off the “instant classic” big come from behind win in the snow. National media attention. Players tweeting like crazy….and now, in recognition of their improvement, the Bear’s game flexed to primetime, more national exposure etc etc.

Meanwhile, the lowly Vikes, without their star, in an easy win nestled in between.

This has got doughnut written all over it.

We’ll see what kind of coach Kelly is and if the Birds come out flat or not.

With the NFC east sucking fumes ,the Birds have emerged and, risen above the dysfunctional redskins ,the giants have again put there coach in the crosshairs, and jerry jones fired Ryan at def coordinator and now has the worst defense in the nfl…as fragile as the division stands, and as young and aspiring the Eagles are this is the foundation upon which we can get even better ..the trenches on both sides of the ball have grown week by week ,the QB has answered question after question and with Dallas revenge on Nick Foles mind ,does anyone doubt what this offense can do to that defense ,sending the Dallas cobwebs into a long New Years ..the scientific sports approach has conditioned this team with fresh young legs …it’s exciting to have the number 3 seed in our own grasp.Of course there are 3huge games left ,and in each game ,we seemingly learn more and more about how focused this team has become .No letdown after a bye ,no heads hanging at halftime in the elements to a lions team ,all building blocks of substantive work by the whole organization ,nice job by all …we don’t have to do a better job,we are doing it just fine thanks..

I Hope Jay Cutler is playing for the Bears by
The time the Eagkes play them.. Cutler has had sulu chess versus the Eagles the last few times he’s played them under the AR regime
The a ears would be stupid for replacing McCown at QB with Cutler,
But we’ll see what happens , the focus needs to be on The Vikings and putting them away by the 3rd Quarter and getting some rest for Key Eagke Players
Would be Tge dream scenario..

PRIMETIME

This is when stars separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

If Nick Foles have a monster game on Prime Time in route to a playoff birth, he’ll receive a serious contract extension, but if he lay an egg at home against the Bears that will do the reverse and bring in to question his heart in big games.

Remember that Cowboys game against an atrocious Cowboys defense without their best player Demarcus Russell?

He out right choked and the games coming will tell us if it was an apparition starting with the Prime Time game against Chicago.

This team and city will embrace If Nick Foles wholeheartedly if he win convincingly against the Bears and redeem himself in Dallas the last game before leading the Eagles into the Playoffs with wind behind his sails.

But first………

Don’t overlook the Vikings!!!!!!!!

They can play the spoiler.

It’s does feel good to be relevant in December though.

GO EAGLES!

Songs, an apparition is a ghost..do you mean an anamoly?
I think most of the city and the teamhas moved on from the Dallas game, which evidently was an anamoly because he’s won 5 straight since then with the Cards, and Detroit in adverse conditions being huge games. Those who still want to hold these personal benchmarks for Nick Foles to achieve, well they’re not interested in Foles being the QB anyway.
As I stated, it appears the city, the team and sports illustrated has embraced Foles…Only die hard MV7 supporters still grope like a blind man in the dark looking for something to hold on to as they wait for their savior’s return. LOL, not gonna happen! You and a few others still struggle with this…it’s ok, Foles and the Eagles will continue to move forward as you and othersare mired in the paralysis of analysis and thinking of sill benchmarks of achievement for him to hurdle.

Go Foles, Go Eagles!!!

Funny how each week the MV fans will move the bar on old Nick….if he beats a good defense……if he can beat a winning team……if he can beat Detroit…..every week they say that they will be convinced, and then the following week they continue to move the bar for another “test”.

Just admit that no matter what the guy does you will NEVER fully support him because you are a hater. You will never fully enjoy the success of this Eagles team because secretly you are rooting for Foles to fail so you can scream out that he is “ass” and sucks and that your hero should have never lost his job. Just admit it, because every the group of haters predict a new way that Foles will fail, only to be proven wrong by the actual game. The guy is a second year QB who is destined to make his share of mistakes, but constantly moving the bar each week only shows how desperate you are for him to fail and how the overall success of the team takes a backseat to seeing this player fail.

I don’t think that the offense is going to have problems scoring points for the rest of the season. Not Seattle defense that they are playing. All in the bottom when it comes to scoring and yards allowed. Will the defense continue to play at a high level making plays that they need to is the question? They should win against the Vikes, but they are going to have to score some points against the Bears, because I am not sure that they will be able to contain those monster WRs. 2nd time Cowboy game is going to be a lot different than the first.

I think the Vikes game could end up being close. The Eagles hve to avoid coming out flat after their big win, and before another big game the following week. Doughnut.

Soo much press right now. Soo much hype. “Game for the ages” SI covers. Player’s tweeting.

Suddenly its 13-13 at half vs the shitty Vikes. What? Shouldn’t they just wipe the floor with these gys??

Now, the birds should be able to pull away in the second half…..but this is an interesting coaching spot for Kelly.

We know that there were (under Reid) a few “press clipping” guys on the Eagles, and right now they’re getting their fill of press clippings (before they’ve really accomplished anything) so it’ll be interesting to see if he can keep them grounded.

I do like everything I hear from the on-field leader though. Nothing but humble pie. That kid is grounded. Bodes very well.

Didn’t you know, Foles now has to win in Primetime in order to be considered acceptable.

Come in cold and roll vs division rival NYG? Not enough.
Win 5 str8 to overcome 1-3 start? – not enough
Set NFL td record? – not enough
Beat good Ariz D? – not enough
2 tds away from all-time record of tds sans int? – not enough
Overcome 2 td deficit and snowstorm to go 7-9 in second half? – not enough

MUST win in primetime….or else a nobody.

The one good thing that we have in our favor is that there are very good chances that after Shanahan gets fired, that Snyder will screw up his next hire and the franchise will remain in tumoil for years to come.

Ha…but its funny how Seattle’s defense some how gets credit for wins…

“the QB is the focal point win or lose”…
That really doesn’t make sense…how can an offensive player be the focal point, when a defense is giving up 30+ points? a single player? really? Whoever thinks that, their thinking is extremely flawed.

Tell that to the Big Ben, the first time he won the SB…He most certainly didn’t get the credit, I think the Steelers defense had a big hand in that…theres’ numerous examples just like this one….

seattles defense gets a lot of credit…well deserved… but russell wilson is the media and fan focus– he gives the interviews, will get the contract, gets the endorsements
unreal you are blinded by studpidity i believe…. the defense, the recievers, the o. line, the kicker, the long snapper are all part of the team but no matter how you slice it the man under center is the focal point… it really isn’t complicated– MOST IMPORTANT POSITION IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS– i didn’t make that up dimwit

You are a certified lunatic if you don’t think the NFL revolves around the QB position and they get the most credit when the teams win or lose..pointing out the very few exceptions over the years is foolish when they are minuscule to the vast majority of what occurs year after year esp when it comes to SB winners.
And if Seattle wins the SB, you think guys like Wagner, Thomas, Clemons are going to be running through the media the next day…is there going to be a defensive player on Letterman the following week? Its going to be all about Russell Wilson even though he plays with probably the best overall talent in the league. Just like he is above and beyond the focal point now, even though they have a stud defense.

If Eagles somehow met Seattle in the NFC champ, the majority of the attention leading up to the game would all be about how the 3rd round Qbs came out together, how they are the best young QBs in the league, how they are playing better than guys taken before them etc…its reality of the NFL. All about the QB

Don’t agree with that rational at all…so call me what you’d like! Bottom line, to me, that thinking is flawed, as I stated above.
So if a QB goes on the field and leads his team to 5 TDs…and his defense gives up 6 TD’s…its the QB’s fault? If a QB goes out there and only completes 50% of his passes but his defense only allows 7 points, its all about the QB? If a returner returns a punt and kick return for a game winner its all about the QB?
Is that the same case in Minnesota? yea they probably could use a better player at the QB position, but right now you play with who you have. AP obviously is the man who deserves the credit…
Just like this past weekend, McCoy and the O Line should get the credit. Along with credit to the defense, and everyone else after that!
If the Eagles defense reverts back to the defense of old, I think you’ll have more of an idea about what I’m talking about…When Foles throws for 5 TD’s and the Eagles still lose…
The last time I checked a game has not been played without defensive personnel…

How do you know it would be all about Wilson? what if he doesn’t have a stellar game…What if 3 INT’s are thrown by the opposing QB and ran back for TD’s…you make no sense…Games have to be played and you never know who or where the big play is coming from…Every team has their strengths and their weaknesses…Its not all about the QB…Not every team is blessed with a SB winning QB…and most don’t know until they win the SB, backed by a total team effort!

Maybe recent history its been more about the QB’s that won SB’s…but that does not change history…Do you recall the great defensive teams that won SB’s over the course of NFL history…? Without those defenses do they win a SB?

Big,

Vick is mentioned now and again the same way Andy Reid is mentioned. They are both still very much in the minds of Eagles fans.

The difference is when somebody says “Reid would not have made the adjustments to win that game”….. you and Skayne don’t jump in to defend Reid.

I wonder if anyone would jump on this message board to defend Jeff Garcia? Garcia won more playoff games and brought this city more enjoyment than Vick.

I associate Michael Vick with the worst period of Eagles football in recent history. I think of Michael Vick in the same light as I think of Rodney Peete. Only Peete won a playoff game. But basically they both played during a transition.

In the future, Eagles fans will look back at Vick’s time as being a down period. Kinda like the Herschel Walker years – I bet you forgot he played here…

“Why are you dudes still talking about Vick?”

Do you have that programmed in to appear in every post?

No one, save a couple quick funny barbs by Eagles0 and Paulman, ever mentioned the former superstar on this thread.

Songs came out with his ridiculous (and thinly veiled) “Foles must win in prometime in order to prove himself….” ridiculousness and we called him on such absurdity.

That’s it.

I love it.

No one mentions ‘Vick’ Biglion reads ‘Vick’

Skayne then jumps in with the immediate and predictable ‘haters’ business.

No one once said, “all the credit goes to Foles” Skayne of course read “all the credit goes to Foles”

No one once said Foles was ‘great’ in the Lions game, Skayne reads ‘it’s all about how great Foles was’.

Vick is still a Philadelphia Eagle and could be the saving grace if Foles goes down with injury.

It’s good to have him there so the offense can excel even with injury.

The defense is really the surprise at this point and the Eagles are in good shape as long as the offense goes.

We can’t afford a dear in the headlight game similar to that game against Dallas in which the defense played well enough to win but the QB choked.

The truth is offense played well earlier in the season while the defense sucked ass and cost games, but now the team is playing on both cylinders.

Foles is the guy and it’s good to know Vick is there in case of injury.

Yet you always fail to mention the KC game where the D gave up 19 pts but the QB choked, pick-sixing a freebie to the Chiefs and then throwing for 43% and another pick over the rest of the game.

You always fail to mention the Denver game. Big matchup when the QB choked his way to 50%, 13 pts and a yank from the game against a terrible D.

You always fail to mention the 2 NYG games where the starting QB choked to a grand total of 12 of 23 with a pick and a fumble.

So to review…..

Foles’ one game of 11 of 29 is “choking”

Vick’s 4 games of 39 of 80 3 ints, a pick 6 and a fumble is “not choking”

Its everyone else’s fault. The offense was “playing well” and the Defense “sucked ass”

Funny, but that wasn’t the D losing that KC game. Nor the giants loss.

Look, I’m as sick and tired of bringing up that loser Vick as anyone else. But as long as twits like Songs keep bringing up the Dallas game and warning us of Foles’ “choking”, I’ll keep reminding him that his hero was the kind of the chokes.

Too bad we were “winning now” at the start of the season…because if the Eagles had begun the season with Foles, I am sure they’d be 9-4 right now.

Maybe you and skayne, and theone1, and koolbreeze can have a prayer meeting and ask for Foles to have an injury so Mike Vick can ride to the rescue.

Look at this fool. One of the primary reasons the Eagles are in this position to begin with is because Foles stepped up and is playing as a top QB in the league. I get it, the redskins fan boards must not be too much fun for you over the past couple of weeks. Esp now that they are starting a white guy this Sunday, you must be ready to jump off a bridge.

You heard what Chip said?

Injuries happen.

It’s good to know we have Vick to come in and the offense won’t miss a beat.

I’m behind both.

Go Foles!

Go Eagles!

and Go Vick if the QB goes down with a season ending injury!

The offense will miss a beat. More turnovers, three and outs, and losses will come with Vick.
I was wondering if Vick would’ve come up with and executed that last fourth down play that went to Celek? Nope!
That’s being a leader and field general.

That KC game was a ckoke out on Mike’s part, that team could’ve been had if the offense could have been a little more productive. That early pick 6 certainly didn’t help.

I like Foles right now mainly because the refs throws the flag in favor of the Eagles when he’s in.

Vick can’t get a late hit call to save his life but if you look at Foles the wrong way the flags come raining down.

I like the ref’s advantage with Foles and hope we can ride it to a Superbowl berth.

Thanks for clearing that up FraudSongs. All of Files success this year is due to the refs. Brilliant, if only Kelly would have figured that out earlier, we could be 13-0.

Is it the refs fault that your other hero RIP I isn’t playing now also? I am sure that you have another conspiracy theory for that on too.

Witlock with a pretty damning article on RGIII.

Aren’t we all happy we now have a QB who consistently and constantly says “my fault” when things go wrong, and “everyone else” when things go well.

We’ll never see mid-offseason press conferences. We’ll never see 50,000 Nike ads. We’ll never read tweets.

I love it.

December 12, 2013 3:55 pm

I will need to read the Witlock article.

I like RGIII. I think that he is a good QB when healthy. I think that his leg injury leads to some problems in his throwing motion and that causes more incompletions and interceptions…never a good thing for a QB obviously. He is a competitor, and wants to do everything that he can to help his team win, but that can lead to him trying to do too much or play when he is not healthy and hurting his team more.

He is in a terrible situation with Shanahan. I believe that RGIII has tried to be a leader on the team,a stand up guy, but clearly he and the coach have not been on the same page for some time.

As a player in the NFL, I want to see him do well. As an Eagles fan, I want to see the turmoil in an NFC East rival continue, but I respect him as a player. Funny thing is, I believe that they also have a very good QB in Kirk Cousins, so the drama in DC is bound to continue for some time into the future.

Hello, My Tag here is Xevious some of you call me X. My name though is Dave and as Dave a life long Eagle fan I would like to put my views out there on what this topic has devolved to. Lately I haven’t posted much because of the pure disgust for certain posters on this blog. To make it short and simple there are people on here that are so hypocritical and full of shit that an intelligent person can see right through any lie they post. If there was any justice in the sports world you assholes would be quarrantined from any Joy coming from an Eagles victory. To see the Bullshit you post and how your personal standards are raised week after week is disgusting. You have already showed how LOW your standards are for performance by who you have supported the 12 years. I will from this point forward not respond to you hate filled assholes. I truly hope that you learn someday what truly good QB play is. You can’t enjoy a good thing when you see it. I don’t include TS or Big in this post. As for the rest of you line moving in denial Non fans, shut the fuck up, go root for the Redskins or whatever team you want. As always go Eagles drop Dead you other Posing Mother fuckers!!

I have one agenda for the Eagles to win, and that QB wasn’t winning and was a huge factor in the lack of winning. I don’t go Rah Rah like a dummy when I see something isnt working for 12 years. Judging has nothing to do with it, I just won’t tolerate it anymore. You have no idea what your talking about for not once have I hated on the man that is Vick, but I can’t take his below average QB play on my team. That’s it, you and others around here will settle for bad QB play cause he is your guy. Most important position in all of sports but you accept his play cause you like him. Thinking like that is why we are the only NFC East team without a superbowl. You call yourself real talk but you can’t see reality. Look above this post and defend the garbage up there with facts. You sit there and make excuses year after year but the facts are what’s on the stat sheet and in the record book. Next to that excuses and what could of or should of mean shit. I am not a casual football fan, I know the game and analyse things. I try to take personal feelings out of the Eagles because it skews reality when analysing things. It gets frustrating and infuriating to see hypocrites post things hoping for injury and are obviously racially bias. Im not alone in these feelings I am sure. Im just going to put it out there cause frankly with out Honestly this blog will never get any better!!

you’re absolutely right green.

right now I have guarded optimism.

I really wish Vick could have stayed healthy but I’ve been thinking hard on this…..

If Vick don’t care to learn how to slide then he don’t deserve to have the position.

A starting quarterback must protect themselves for the good of the team.

Foles have showed patience, learned how to run the offense, and have a touch on the ball that’s receiver friendly.

He even throw receivers open for Yards after the catch.

I’m not blind.

Foles is showing me something but I’ll see how he handle leading the team under pressure.

Winning the last 3 games solidifies his position as the quarterback of the future…and if he succeeds at doing so then it will be well deserved.

Vick can be a back up….as long as he Eagles win.

I’d rather have Foles and win than Vick and lose.

Go Eagles!

Go Foles!

The Eagles undoubtedly would have won with Vick or Foles…the play of the Offensive Line and the improved Defense are the major factors in the resurgence of the Eagles…Foles has been effective…his best game was not the Oakland game but the Detroit game where he threw the interception in my view…it was the first game that he responded to some real pressure…in leading the Eagles to a come back win
The bottom line is winning…and Foles is winning!
He has to keep winning and take us to the playoffs…all of the teams left for us to beat we are better than! We are better than the Vikings, Bears, and Dallas….we should win all three and make the playoffs!
Bottom line no excuses…all Foles has to do is what he supposed to do and the job rightfully belongs to him!

Vick took a team to the NFC Championship game.

That’s a proven NFL QB.

Vick have been an MVP runner up more than once, so yes…

Nick Foles have more to prove.

The stars are aligned for him to do so.

Foles have the best running back in the league, good receivers, and a defense on the rise.

So, he should be able to win 3 games in which the Eagles would be favored down the stretch.

Right?

The same old tired and lame Vick bashers are at it again!
Stop it..and spare us the bull!
Vick got hurt…he didn’t lose the job because of poor play…he played very well…he got hurt! Simple has that…if Foles gets hurt…I have no doubt that Vick will step in and do very well. The team has confidence in him…however the Offensive line is playing at a level where it is extremely hard to imagine that Foles would get hurt.
Foles came in and Chip Kelly has made the right decision to go with the hot QB since the team has not lost and and over the course of time…the major improvements has been the offensive line and the defense! The Offensive line has been down right dominant..Foles has been extremely comfortable in the pocket…his best game was the Detroit game! Foles brought the team back from a deficit and then Shady and the O-line took over. He should some poise under pressure. Its all down hill from here…there is absolutely no reason why we should not make the playoffs!
Songsrme2 is absolutely correct! Foles has the job and everything is pointing upward for him…we have three inferior teams to beat to make the playoffs! Lets allow Foles to finish the job and see how well he plays in the playoffs. Then we can make a fair determination if he is a franchise Quarterback…so far he looks like one…but the job is not finished!
Make the playoffs and then we can talk about Foles has the long term solution for the team

If for some unexpected reason Nick Foles forgets how to make good decisions with the ball and begins turning the ball over – or if he loses his accuracy and his completion percentage drops to 54% – or if he starts holding on to the ball too long and starts taking too many sacks…. then we whould draft a QB.

But Foles would have to be injured for Vick to ever start a game in Philadelphia again. Unless Vick can turn the clock back five years. At some point you guys will have to accept that fact

We do not need to talk about mike Vick as the eagles starter, unless foles goes down with injury, then we will be glad we have him, Vick has always has been a dynamic player, and great teammate, unlike that fraud, puss mcchoke , Vick will step in and do the job
