Chip Kelly: Eagles Starters Will Play Vs. Bears, Regardless

ChipKelly5Eagles head coach Chip Kelly just finished his weekly day after game news conference and he said he’s going to play his starters next week against the Bears on the Sunday night, regardless of what happens in the Dallas-Washington game on Sunday afternoon.

I don’t think it’s a good idea, because the game might not mean anything if the Cowboys were to win their afternoon game against the Skins.  The Eagles don’t benefit at all from beating the Bears, if the Cowboys beat the Redskins in the earlier game.  Kelly doesn’t care, he’s going to play his starters any way and take the risk of somebody getting hurt.

“We have to get back on a winning track,” Kelly said about an hour ago at the Nova Care Complex.

Kelly also continued to defend his reasons for kicking the ball to the up backs and blockers on the kickoff team.  He says they could have done a better job of making the squib kicks.

The Eagles head coach blew down any and all rumors about him taking off to Austin, Texas for the open University of Texas.

“I haven’t spoken to anybody, nor will I speak to anybody” about a college job, including Texas, Kelly said.

You play to Win the Game

To Birdo
The 49ers and the Saints/Panthers all have 10 Wins and will be the Wildcards.
Only the 1 Divisional Winning Team from the NFC East (Eagles/Cowboys) and out of the NFC North (Lions,Bears & Packers) will make the Playoffs
The Saints & Panthers play next Week making the Winner in the Drivers Seat for Division Crown while the loser becomes 1 Wildcard and the 49ers whwo are not going to catch the Seahawks, but at 10-4 have secured the 2nd WIld-Card berth .

Rest people? Did you watch the game yesterday? I understand the risk of someone getting hurt, but we don’t have the luxury of taking a week off. They need to get back out there and bounce back. The Eagles don’t gain anything by beating the Bears? How about regaining some momentum or confidence by being able to beat a solid Bears team. How about gaining a shot at the 3 seed instead of the 4 seed? I’m not suggesting it is going to happen, but if the #1 and #2 seeds both lose, the #3 seed can host the NFC Championship game. Please explain how they have nothing to gain by beating the Bears.

What an odd scenario, 2 games left and the first of the 2 could be meaningless. I’m not sure if I remember a situation where a team had a meaningless game 15 followed by a winner-takes-all game 16. This may be a new wrinkle resulting from the league trying to have meaningful late season games.

I’d like to see the Eagles have to win in Dallas in order to win the division, but I also want the Bears game to mean something.

Definitely play your starters. Momentum is extremely important especially if your anywhere near making the playoffs. This team is still wet behind the ears and is far away from being a power house…Keep playing the starters no matter what the outcome may be
