Notes From The Phillies’ 12-1 Loss To Colorado

pettiboneoutThe Philadelphia Phillies lost the first game of their series with the Rockies on Friday night 12-1. Their record falls to 7-9.

  • Jonathan Pettibone was lit up in his second start of the season, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks in just four innings.
  • Pettibone gave up four runs in the first, and three in the second.
  • Mike Adams made his first appearance of the year, pitching a scoreless fifth.
  • Mario Hollands gave up a run in the sixth.
  • Jeff Manship gave up a run in just .2 innings of work.
  • B.J. Rosenberg allowed two runs on four hits in 1.1 innings of work.
  • The Phillies’ offense turned in another wretched performance, picking up just one run on two hits.
  • Cody Asche was the only starter to earn a base hit.
  • Jayson Nix drove in the team’s only run as a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning.

Final Thoughts

This was one of the ugliest games of the season.

The Phillies’ offense has been pretty decent through the first two weeks of the year, but over the last three games they’ve started to look as bad as they did throughout Spring Training. Its becoming a struggle for them just to get some runners on base, let alone drive in runs.

They’ve scored just two runs in their last three games, and their latest failure comes in a Colorado ballpark that is extremely hitter-friendly.

Took it on the chin big time last evening..
If Rockies get decent Pitching, they will be in the hunt this Season
Tulo, Gargo,Cuddy & Morneau will generate Runs..
A nice line-up with good consistent hitters who actually put the ball in Play

I don’t know why anyone on this site is still watching this sick excuse for a major league baseball team play!
