- Jonathan Papelbon earned his 20th save of the season.
Final Thoughts
Ken Giles just continues to impress.
The rookie reliever came in to a difficult situation, asked to preserve a one-run lead with two men on and two out in the seventh inning. Giles responded well to the pressure-situation, and came back to give the team a scoreless inning to get the ball to Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth.
Giles has now posted a 0.77 ERA in 11.2 innings with 17 strikeouts and just three walks. He’s the one of the lone bright spots of this team that is worth watching at the moment.
