Thursday Night Football Pick

Eli_ManningNew York Giants @ Washington

The Redskins’ offense came to life the moment Robert Griffin went down with an ankle injury and Kirk Cousins stepped in.

Cousins has looked pretty darn good through two weeks, coming off of a 400-yard effort in a loss against the Eagles. He’ll now be matched up against a New York defense that can’t stop anybody.

The Giants finally came through with a win last week over the Houston Texans, but through the first two weeks of the season they looked like they’re going to be every bit as bad as they were a year ago, possibly even worse.

I think the New York offense gets overwhelmed by the hot hand of Cousins, and the Giants sink to last place in the division.

Pick: Washington 27, New York 13

former eagle now giant Rodgers Cromartie should know Cousins likes to work his sideline on 3rd down – took Bradley Fletcher a half of getting burned to realize it.
I think I like the giants tonight. It seemed to easy for the eagles to beat Washington corners running straight.

I picked up and like this big Giants TE Larry Donnell
For my fantasy Team last week and he’s impressive
Big, good feet and soft hands and will be a nightmare match-up
For a teams in red-zone..
He reminds me of a young Antonio Gates of the Chargers
Giants haven’t had a TE since Jeremy Shockey?

Eagles are in deep trouble versus the Giants

I feared Ramses Barden would do this goal line success but he never could crack the giants lineup — but wow Donnell is a goal line weapon.

I did not think it was a cheap shot…the Tight End put his head down as Demps was coming in.

I agree. He took a couple steps and lowered his head into the defenders. Vicious hit no doubt, but I don’t think he was defensless.

back to reality for Djax — after 4 games for Washington 15 catches, 207 yards, 1 TD.
His Philadelphia 1300yds, 8 TD season was a sham in 2013. He is back to his normal career production of 800-900yds, 60-70 catch, 6 TD year and predictable loafing routine after an interception instead of trying to help tackle the returner.

It doesn’t change the fact that I believe that FO should have worked this better to have gotten at least something in return and sent him away from a division rival, but looking at his performance through the first 4 games, don’t see much of a reason to miss him on the field.

For the umpteenth time,
Not 1 Team in the NFL in Feeb/March/April/May was taking on D-Jax’s Remaining 3 Year $34.5 Million Contract.. Why is it so hard for some of you to understand this…
Bottom Line, it’s the same Reason that No Team is Trading for Texans WR Andre Johnson this Off-Season either who is due big $$$ over the remainder of his Current Contract
When you Trade for a Player in the NFL, You as the new Club, assume that CUrrent Contract and must have it fit under your Present Cap Situation… Once the Deal is done and then you want to re-structure, etc,etc you are allowed to do so, but all initial trades for Players in the NFL must be able to fit under a Team’s Salary Cap situation and to be honest, WR’s are a dime a dozen and very few Teams are not willing to spend $12-$13 Million per Season for 1 player at WR, they just are not going to do it whether a player has baggage or not…

Paulman is right on this…no one was giving up anything for DJax and in the end he ran to the money and where careers go to die in Washington.

If the Redskins implode this year and his stats arent up expect more of the same nonsense from him this offseason. Especially if all that happens is he duplicates the success that Andre Roberts could have had with them. He will be traded in the offseason or cut. Especially if his cap hit can be split of over 2 years.

D-Jax will be Cut after the 2014 Season from the Redskins,
he’s already bitching about Andre Roberts getting as many snaps as he.. They also have promising Rookie WR in Grant so they really don’t need D-Jax moving forward and will realize he was not worth it…

As far as the Eagles Signing D-Jax to that big deal, your right, that was a mistake in 2010,2011 when they should have moved on from him, But Andy Reid was too weak to make that Call

See you are in a dickhead mood today. I understand the contract issue that they faced with DJax, but I also know that the rumors had been out there that the Saints were releasing Sproles, and then turned around and were able to get a 5th from the Eagles.

What I am saying is that ultimately it was all self inflicted by the FO. It was the FO that signed him to the contract extension in the first place. So if they ended up being stuck getting nothing but a cap hit because they choose to release him, then I say they screwed up. I get the hole that they dug themselves, for the umpteenth time, but it was all of their own doing. In the end the team is better off, that is easy to see.

After the 1st Two Weeks of NFL Play
The Redskins had the #1 Overall Ranking Defensively in the entire NFL.. Hence the Best Front 7 as of Week #2

Here’s the real sad thing though, after 2 weeks of giving up over 75 Pts and 900 Yards of Offense to the Eagles & Giants
the Redskins Defense and Front 7 will still be rated higher and better than the Eagles Defensive Front 7

Many ripped the Birds for their free agency…but this year….they have to be in the mix for a top CB in the draft/FA and be in on the Justin Houston sweepstakes if he hits FA.

I wonder if Barwin has inside lineback potential.

I tell you what….the Birds wanted CJ Mosely bad. Damn if only we had a chance.

Brandon Boykins starting wouldn’t improve the Eagles starting secondary, it would make it worse…..He is not a starting CB in this League. He is a slot corner exclusively.

I do agree with you on Justin Houston. rushing OLB, is what they’ve needed for years. They should have drafted him like I suggested a few years ago.

As well as, Byron Maxwell, another GMCliff guy, from Seattle and Orlando Franklin, to replace Herramans. 2016 is the big Free Agent Year.

Eric Berry, Ahtybo Rubin, Dontari Poe, Aldon Smith, Muhammed Wilkerson, Cory Liuget, and Trent Williams will be available.

If we draft what we need up to that point, I believe that is the year we win the SuperBowl.

No Big-Name Free-Agents Cliff..
Half these Players in 2016 will be in their late 20’s and approaching 30 and will not be offered long-term Deals from the Eagles.. Ain’t happening..
Draft< Development and Coach Players up… This is the Program that Chip Kelly/GM Roseman are on now and for the forseeable future whether we like it or not..

dam GMCliff how do you think they can afford all that? and you have 2 nose tackles too in Poe and Rubin. Besides Benny Logan had back to back good games with 7 tackles in each game.

I wasn’t suggesting all of these players be acquired by the Eagles. I was just stating who would be available in 2016.

@Paul – Paul, I know how hold these players are bruh. Most will be between 24-26, which what you want. I wouldn’t mind acquiring in

2015 – Justin Houston(25), Byron Maxwell(26), and Orlando Franklin(26)

2016 – Eric Berry(25), Dontari Poe(24), Ahtybo Rubin(28), and Whitney Mercilus(24)

Now tell me what’s wrong with their age????..Nothing…

The Eagles don’t draft good anyway. So you would need to allow your draft picks to develop at certain positions.

The Highest priced Free agents on my list would be Justin Houston, and Eric Berry….I don’t see your point bruh honestly I don’t.

Because if you add that to what they have already, and my draft picks of : Benardrick McKinney, Cody Prewitt, Vadar Alexander, and Doriel Beckham Green, I see a legitimate Super Bowl Contender…

Benny Logan is not a Nose Tackle, or a starter.

I like him on the team, but as a backup DE, WHICH IS WHERE HE BELONGS in a 3-4. Don’t give me that 7 tackle nonsense, and say he ‘s good in the same breath…BS!!

He doesn’t bring any impact to this team.

Bennie Logan lead the NFL defensive lineman in tackles after week 3 — That is impact — he had back to back games with 7 tackles of which 12 were solo tackles — Pierre Paul of the NYG passed him Thursday night and Jonathan Hankins tied him but Bennie Logan is playing outstanding football in 2014.

Cliff want no part of Eric Berry he’s plateaued as a player and I don’t see the impact justifying his price tag, don’t think he can cover worth a damn either.

KC has to let go of either Houston or Poe. Whichever they do I want the other. Poe in the middle flanked by Cox and Logan would be nice.

Outstanding Football my ass. You’ve always looked at things with rose colored glasses with Howie’s draft picks. Benny Logan will NEVER be impact, he’s just another lineman….and will never be a NT either

Houston is an OLB, and Wilkerson would be a 3-4 DE; They play two different positions.

The Jets will have to pay him, or Sheldon Richardson. One will have to walk, and I would take either for the Eagles.

It is what it is… Most Eagles Fans could give a Rat’s Ass about
D-Jax or Mike Vick or Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson, Jason Avant, Bryce Brown, etc,etc since none of these Players have any impact to the 2014 Eagles and Beyond.. They have moved on, so should the small % of Fans who continue clamor onto the old days for some stupid reason.. No one is going to change their thinking, motives, but in the end, no one gives a shit…

I agree with you. This forum however is a whole world unto itself lol.

I had no problem with the cut. I have no problem with Kelly building the team the way he wants it.

I just laugh at all the nonsense that was spewed on here for months. You couldnt have a rationale “FOOTBALL” conversation about it on here. I said it then that he was not the straw that stirred the offense and him leaving would not slow down this offense.

As long as the Eagles have a threat in the backfield Kelly can exploit mismatches all over the field. Kelly was getting Wr sets with Cooper Johnson and Avant wide open on one opportunities but clowns on here wanted to say it was Djax forcing all the coverage.

All you have to do is watch the tape of Maclin’s touchdown that was called back and watch the blocking that the receivers did on that play. DJax was and is not into that type of work. Kelly would rather operate with 3 TE’s to create mismatches then deal with a minute diva speedster who offers only limited benefits. I agree that in the end it was a good move, no doubt, but just wish that they could have gotten something in return and avoided his drama twice every year.

Already have the questions out here on him…why did we spend 8 million a year on DJax when we have Roberts and couldve gotten better offensive lineman.

Tops about to come off on him if he doesnt get his numbers soon. Hopefully he can show out against Seahawks or 1-5 is gonna get ugly.

10 million dollar “superstars” gotta catch those passes that hit u scare in your hands rather than drop them. they also gotta get their feet in bounds on the tight sideline throws, they also should be blocking on running plays.

desean is a fuckin loooooooooooooooooza and was never anything more than an average player capable of making explosive plays similar to vick.

desean did some amazingly clutch things for the birds over the years but all in all he isnt special and he is a jackass he quits. so for me this is great to see

i wonder what was greater yesterday for jaccpot records sold or catches
