Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Week 4

Cam NewtonWill the real fantasy football studs please “step up?”  NFC East running backs not named Lesean McCoy are dominating.  Martellus Bennett and Larry Donnell are giving Jimmy Graham and Julius Thomas competition as the best tight-end in fantasy football.  Rookie wide receivers are making a huge impact across the league.  Did you spend a pick too early on a top defense like Seattle or San Francisco, ouch; they have yet to prove their worth.

It’s only week 4, but if you are staring at 1-2 or 0-3, it’s a big week for you.   The bye weeks have begun, and you may also have begun to put some of those early round selections on the trade block as you are simply tired of their lackluster performances.

QB

Bench’em–  Newton, Brady– Two guys who have both made their living in the top 5 over the years, not feeling either of them this week.

Trust’em– Rivers, Roethlisberger-Both quarterbacks are at home against teams going in the wrong direction lead by young/inexperienced quarterbacks.

Bust of the week-Ryan Tannehil-I like the Dolphins to the win the game; I just don’t see either team scoring a lot of points.

Surprise of the week-Mike Glennon- He wasn’t terrible last year, and he is going to do everything in his power to give Lovie Smith a reason to keep him as a starter.

RB

Bench’em– Gerhardt, D. Brown, D. Martin- They might get the touches, but not the production they are projected for.

Trust’em– L. Miller, Spiller, Fred Jackson, Ridley- Going to get the touches, playing defenses that allow nice scoring to RB’s.

Bust of the week-J. Bell/Reggie Bush- The Jets are no joke with stopping the run.

Surprise of the week-Eddie Lacy-He finally eclipses RB-1 production!

WR

Bench’em– C. Patterson, D. Bowe, S. Watkins- I need to see what Bridgewater looks like, Watkins has this guy Manuel attempting to throw, and I feel Pats take it to the Chiefs this week.

Trust’em– Steve Smith, K. Allen, T. Williams-All 3 find the end-zone this week.

Bust of the week-TY Hilton- He is going to start, but a guy who is “speed” based, the injury he sustained last week will be enough to slow him down.

Surprise of the week-Mike Evans- Steelers will struggle with matching up with the size of the Bucs WR’s.

TE

Bench’em– Olsen-He is a must start most weeks, I think Baltimore removes him his receiving role with the blitz packages.

Trust’em– Gates-Where did he go last week?  Don’t worry, he isn’t lost, he will show up for a 14 point effort on Sunday.

Bust of the week-Jason Witten-Will be used more as a blocker; pedestrian 6 catches for 59 yards.

Surprise of the week-Heath Miller-Could be one of those 4 catches for 29 yards and 2 Td’s for the vet.

DEF/ST

Any squad (preferably home team) that is facing a rookie quarterback.  SD, MIA, ATL
