NFL Week 7 Picks

TonyRomo1Atlanta @ Baltimore

The Falcons just look mediocre. They couldn’t win against the Bears at home last week, and taking down the red-hot Baltimore offense.

Pick: Baltimore 27, Atlanta 17

Minnesota @ Buffalo

Teddy Bridgewater’s train got brutally derailed against the Lions last weekend. A road trip to Buffalo won’t help him get back on track.

Pick: Buffalo 20, Minnesota 10

Miami @ Chicago

Miami gave their best to try and overcome Green Bay, and will now see their play slip a bit going out to one of the more difficult places to play on the road.

Pick: Chicago 31, Miami 20

New Orleans @ Detroit

Its time for the Saints to wake up and turn things around. Fresh off of the bye week, they’ll be able to overcome a Detroit offense that just hasn’t looked special without Calvin Johnson.

Pick: New Orleans 23, Detroit 21

Carolina @ Green Bay

What happened to the Panthers defense? They can’t stop anyone anymore, and a road date with Aaron Rodgers is not at all what the doctor ordered.

Pick: Green Bay 34, Carolina 23

Cincinnati @ Indianapolis

What happened to the Bengals defense? They’ve been lit up for 80 points in the last two games. A road date with Andrew Luck and the Colts on extended rest is not at all what the doctor ordered.

Pick: Indianapolis 30, Cincinnati 24

Cleveland @ Jacksonville

The Jaguars apparently haven’t taken any steps forward in Gus Bradley’s second season. The Browns, high off of a big win over Pittsburgh, keep it going with a solid road win.

Pick: Cleveland 31, Jacksonville 13

Seattle @ St. Louis

The Seahawks bounce back and take out frustrations on an inferior Rams team.

Pick: Seattle 30, St. Louis 17

Tennessee @ Washington

A mediocre Tennessee defense is actually what the Redskins need to snap their losing streak.

Pick: Washington 27, Tennessee 17

Kansas City @ San Diego

The Chargers have a date with the Broncos this coming Thursday, but I don’t think Mike McCoy’s group is the type to look past an opponent.

Pick: San Diego 33, Kansas City 20

New York Giants @ Dallas

Dallas is just in a great groove right now. Offense and defense are clicking for this team right now. The Giants came back down to earth last week, and must now try to bounce back without the services of Victor Cruz.

Pick: Dallas 31, New York 17

Arizona @ Oakland

The Raiders showed some signs of life a week ago, but the Cardinals know they can’t afford a slip up on the road or they risk losing ground to Seattle and San Francisco.

Pick: Arizona 30, Oakland 17

San Francisco @ Denver

Time for the 49ers to get knocked down a notch. Manning and the Broncos offense will overwhelm the Niners at home. Colin Kaepernick played his best game of the season last Monday, and he won’t be able to keep pace with Manning.

Pick: Denver 31, San Francisco 21

Houston @ Pittsburgh

Bounce back game for the Steelers at home after an embarrassing loss to the Browns.

Pick: Pittsburgh 23, Houston 20

Denny Basens

The Percy Harvin news came as a shock to many Im sure. Clearly, good teams are not putting up with thugs. We saw the Eagles move on from a guy in Djax, who in my opinion offers more to a team on the field than does Percy. If a team is willing to bail on a guy like Djax, why is it surprising that a guy like Percy gets let go. Its a shame because both these guys are tremendous assets and Xfactors on the football field. However, they are also selfish idiots.

Very wrong.

NFC Contenders:
Eagles, Packers, Dallas

NFC Pretenders:
Detroit, 49ers, Ariz

I don’t know where to put the Seahawks.

Why even mention Saints, Chic, or Falcons or Giants? They’re not making the playoffs.

Some Team has to Win the NFC South
With Panthers,Saints & Falcons all struggling

I list the Bears as a pretender but do note the Lions have a habit of self-destruction Every Season down the stretch so I am not completely ruling them out
49ers Beat both the Eagles/Cowboys so I am not counting them
Out either and especially the way the Seattle “Young Guns” are imploding..

I have a good question….

Why is it when the Cowboys have a winning record the expectations is Superbowl, but when the Eagles have a winning record the fan base claim the team is 3-4 years away from a team that can contend?

Keep in mind this is the same Cowboys all the experts claimed was a joke compared to the Eagles before the season.

Over the last decade the Cowboys have won 1 playoff game. If you think the current Cowboys fan base is programed to expect a super bowl you need you head examined.

There is an entire generation of Cowboys fans that have never seen their team reach a conference championship game.

are you listening to the sport talk shows comparing this team to the Cowboys of the early 90’s?

They are saying the Cowboys can easily be in line to represent the NFC with a wide open conference this year.

looking at the rest of the NFC….are they wrong?

Again, I said nothing about the Cowboys fan base.

I’ve heard over and over on this site that the Eagles are a few drafts away from being considered a real Superbowl Contender.

Saying, it’s alright to go with a learning quarterback with growing pains because the team is not ready to contend anyway.

Have something changed?

Now, that Seattle and the Niners have come down to earth can we now say the Eagles can get to a Superbowl this year in an wide open NFC?

I see Krapernick blowing the 49ers chances
Throws to wrong receiver on previous drive resulting
In a Int to Broncos who quickly turn the short field into
7 Pts then on next series, kraiernivk overthrows a wide-open
WR Lloyd which should have been a TD,
Then gets sacked on 3rd down play.
I don’t see Krapernick anywhere close to
A Top 10 QB..
Keep him in the Pocket and he is actually below Average

If Harbaugh walks….it will be interesting to see what the 49ers do with him.

post whistle shoving match and the ref separated Erik Walden and the Bengal like a boxing ref would if they were clutching and grabbing. Walden swatted the ref’s hand/arm off his chest for pushing him and the ref tossed him with a 15 yard penalty. I hope refs throw more flags for that after whistle nonsense. I hate the Extracurricular post play tough guy act stuff. Pierre Garcon, Steve Smith, Desean Jackson, Cary Williams, Antoine Bolden, Cortland Finnegan, Richard Sherman. I had the eagles/redskins battling it out for the division with the winner getting a 9-7 record. Looks like 13-3 is needed to win the NFC east this year between the Cowboys and Eagles.
Had Broncos beating Saints in superbowl. ( Broncos still look good )
Had Drew Brees beating MVP ( Demarco Murray week 7 MVP )
Had Richard Sherman D – MVP ( JJ Watt)
Had Kelvin Benjamin Rookie ( looks good still)
Had CJ Mosley D – Rookie ( looks good sitll)
saints collapse is the most shocking to me, I thought they were best team in the NFC

Dallas has Washington, Arizona, @Jax, @NYG before the Thanksgiving gave vs Eagles. There are 3 very winnable games with a toughie vs Ariz, (though at home) I cannot see how they don’t win 3 out of those 4 (at least).

They’re going to be 10-1 or 9-2 going into the Thanksgiving game vs Eagles.

Eagles have much more difficult slate, but manageable:
@ Ariz, @Hou, Carolina, @GB. There are 2 cupcakes in Houston and Carolina, and two tough games on the road obviously. I see 2-2, maybe 3-1 if they catch a break.

Just because of the schedule, its going to be tough to catch those Cowboys.

NFC teams to worry about:
GB
Dallas
Eagles
Arizona
Seattle

NFC pretenders that will fold in big games (esp on the road):
Detroit
Carilona
Saints

Using the Harvin trade as precedent….

Brandon Marshall and the Bears are going down in flames. They resigned Cutler for a boatload of cash and have Alshon Jefferey on the cheap.

Would you make a run at Brandon Marshall if available in trade? He is the prototype for a Chip Kelly WR.

No Brandon Marshall best years are behind him as he’s on the wrong side of 30 and is grooming himself for his Post-NFL Career in Broadcasting and being a Spokesman about Mental Illness…
If your looking for a Short-Term Experienced WR to help now and won’t cost you much in terms of Trade Value or Salary is Hakeem Nicks who is not needed in Indy, A Greg Jennings of the Vikings, Andre Caldwell of Broncos, Santana Moss of Redskins, Michael Williams of Bills..

Best move for Eagles is to Play J Matthews & J Huff as much as possible to get as much experience and then Draft another big WR in next Years Draft..

You wont need to give up more than a 4th at best for him at this point. It would be a low round pick with the possibility of being higher if he balls out.

When talking about WR’s
Here are 3 Wr’s that I have been pretty high on the last couple of years while GMCliff has bashed me about and said they were all not that and would suck as NFL WR’s)

2014 Stats
1) Golden Tate (Lions – 48 Catches – 650 Yards – 2 TD’s)
2) Michael Floyd (Cardinals – 20 Catches – 350 Yards – 2 TD’s
3) Kendall Wright (Titans – 32 Catches – 300 Yards – 4 TD’s)

You really are having a problem with me referring to better talent than you aren’t you Paul……LOL!!!!

And they aren’t all that.

1.Tates production comes LARGELY from Calvin Johnson being hurt.

2. Michael Floyd – Averages 50 yards a game, and scored 1st TD last week.
week 6

3. Kendall Wright – You, in your hate for DeSean Jackson said, he would be better than DeSean Jackson coming out of College…LOL!!….You were wrong…..and he averages about 42 yards a game…You call that productive!??

I never bashed you Paul, I just mentioned that your guys give evidence to the mediocrity of your talent evaluation…

BTW, I saw your bashing of Jamie Collins – He was always a Linebacker in College, and this year he is hurt, although his entire team isn’t having a good year. I never knew 1 person was to blame for the play of the entire Defense…….asinine…you’re still jealous…..but I love ya man…

And to Counter-Punch

1) Golden Tate not having Megatron makes his Stats even more impressive in my opinion since Teams can now Double Team him and put their Best Coverage CB’s on Floyd.. Yes He gets more Passes thrown his way, but you still have to perform and make plays

2) M Floyd is getting hot and seems to have a nice Rapport with QB Carson Palmer who missed 3-4 Games…By Season’s End, M Floyd will have his 60 Receptions & 1,000 Yards

3) You talk about Injuries on LB Collins and that it’s not his Fault that the Patriots Defense is Banged up.. Look at who Kendall Wright has had to play with at QB his his 3 Seasons with the Titans … (Fitzpatrick,Locker, Whitehurst and back to Locker) ..He’s has 2 HC’s & 2 New OC’s in his first 3 Season… Kendall Wright can play and if he was on a stable Team with a real QB, his Production would be much better

gmcliff
gmcliff
October 21, 2014 10:51 am

You’re right, Its really not for those who don’t know talent, I understand…..

Stats don’t exactly tell you how good a player is; They’re extremely circumstantial For instance:

Shady is a better RB talent wise but other RB have better stats.

Jimmy Graham is a better talent than Dwayne Allen, but he has better stats.

Julio Jones is a better talent than most WR in the league but others have better statistics……..Players can have a better year statistically, and still not have as much of an impact than the ones with more talent……

Like your point about Benny Logan leading the league in tackles for D-Lineman – it’s bullshit…..again circumstantial – a RB runs into a congested pile and he happens to be there when the opposing O-Line gets no penetration – He’s still not more impactful to a game than Vinny Curry – who gets less minutes…

Your rating system to me makes no sense you see things through rose colored glasses making average players seem like potential pro bowlers…..

Paul’s stats for Floyd, and Wright, are embarrassing to use as evidence of talent

Back to Floyd/Wright, I also never said these Players were Pro-Bowlers, What I said is that you were wrong in claiming them to be Busts, which is what you said, while I stated then and now, that both Floyd/Wright will have Productive NFL Careers which both are having…

Now, you have to take a few steps back, because after 3 years it’s apparent, and obvious that neither is all that….just like I said.

Who are your choices this years draft?….I always look forward to your preferences for the Eagles in the draft…….

GMCliff, there are about 160 wide receivers in the NFL meaning ” average at best” ( which you called Kendall Wright) would be the 80th best wide receiver. Kendall Wright is a top 20 wide receiver hence why your rating system doesn’t any make sense. Drew Stanton and Charlie Whitehurst are below average QBs who both check down the ball to closest passing option to the line of scrimmage. Now that Carson Palmer is back behind center, Michael Floyd will returns as the Cards #1 option. Andre Ellington ( the running back ) is currently the Cardinals #1 passing option because every pass play was checked down for a month in Arizona behind Drew Stanton.

GMCliff, everybody gets different enjoyment out of the NFL Draft for different purposes. I personally like to follow the local draft eligible players whether from the High School area, Rutgers, Penn State or even the smaller local schools like Temple, Deleware, Villanova. You are the one who likes to pretend you could do better than Howie Roseman. I know I’m not better than him. I get a kick out of you floundering while you proclaim you could Better Howie. You still haven’t found a QB better than Howie’s draft pick Nick Foles. Your current QB is Logan Thomas. EOS, as usual you don’t have your facts straight.

If you really read my article, you would have read where I stated my 1st choice for the new Eagles Head Coaching job was Bill O’Brian. but because he went back to Penn State, my choice was Gus Bradley – and I stand by that, although I have learned to love Chip.

– and I don’t think Bradleys’ coaching ability can be based on what he has done so far in Jacksonville. Bill Belicheck could be the head Coach, and Peyton Manning could be their QB, and they would still stink. Minimal talent, yet he almost beat the Birds with that minimal talent too…

You and Paul, are dreaming if you think Kendal Wright, is better than DeSean Jackson, or Jeremy Maclin……and that’s what I mean Paul – stupid statements like that – Claiming Average production equates to superstar talent – and 50 yards per game – 42 yards per game for Wright – is NOT productive……He would NOT be a #1 receiver on the Eagles…He’d be the 4th receiver behind Maclin, Cooper, and Matthews…..stop it Paul…Your Pride is getting in the way of your logic.

and E0S – Michael Floyd, has NEVER been, nor will he ever be the Cardinals #1 receiver, as long as Larry Fitzgerald is on that team, and if he ever left, they know they would have to FIND a #1 receiver because he isn’t it.

Fitzgerald, gets double teamed, and yet Floyd scores his 1st touchdown IN WEEK 6!!!!!, and yet only averaging 50 yards per game – That’s not productive, that’s Paul clamoring, and exaggerating the average production for his guys

So you’re also saying indirectly that all three will make the Pro Bowl…

Incidentally, I don’t ever remember discussing Golden Tate ever. Like I said you do 100 mock drafts, and claim you singled them out when it’s convenient. …..

Regardless, I am right – None of them are all that. So the two of you can continue to exaggerate their abilities, and production all you want, and I’ll call it what it truly is – average talent at best: not all that.

Paul knows the last QB, I wanted to draft to eventually start for the Eagles was the same year we drafted Nick Foles – Brock Osweiler

So Basically GMCliff, Your Saying that it’s Ok for Logan Thomas to need time to Develop at the NFL Level because you picked him, but that many of the Players I have listed from the past, such as Tate,Floyd.Wright have to be All-Pro’s out of the gate…

As far as QB’s goes in the Foles Draft, I recall you thumping your chest about Ryan Mallet the most….
And as far as this Years Draft,
Under the Radar Players that I liked that have gotten off to good NFL Careers are WR’s Jarvis Landry, WR John Brown Jr,
RB T West, OL Joel Botonio, OL Justin Britt, Safety Deone Bucannon, RB Bishop Sankey , QB Derek Carr , RB Tre Mason,
DT Aaron Donald, LB Preston Brown, WR Brandon Cooks
WR Davante Adams, TE Crockett Gilmore, CB B Brashaun Breeland, DT Beau Allen
Are any of these Players Pro-Bowlers in Year #1, absolutely not,
but are they contributing and playing significant Snaps as Rookies and helping their Teams.. Yes they are…

I never looked at Logan Thomas being anything, but a potential back up, because you know all I said was that Foles was the man.

I never looked at him as replacing Foles, or being anything special. I don’t even know why you even mentioned him.

Wright, and Floyd are still average…….what does Logan Thomas matter???

How can you recall me thumping my chest as you say, for Ryan Mallett when he was drafted the year before.

In the 2012 draft I wanted Brock Osweiler as a QB Prospect, If the Eagles couldn’t get him I suggested – not thump my chest – suggested, to perused a trade for Mallett, but Osweiler was the QB I wanted in the Foles draft.

I’m really trying to see your point my friend. 85% of the prospects I have suggested for the Eagles over the years are Pro Bowlers – not just progressive contributors…….

For me Deone Buchannon – every one on here knows where I stood with him, is the only player in that list….

but again if you do 100 mock drafts you can pick your spots when you see it as convenient….I think Bishop Sankey is a joke too…

GMCliff, you suggest 50 players and then wait to see who is successful. If Austin Seferian Jenkins or Eric Ebron were having a good season then your soap box would be on their band wagon bull horning with I told you so they are better than Zack Ertz but that didn’t prediction isn’t happening. If Walt Aikens, Stan Jean Baptiste, Keith McGill, or Pierre Desir were any good your narrative would insert their name into your propaganda comment speeches now but they are not. If Tiny Richardson or Cyril Richardson could play then that would be your narrative. You have a list of 50 players and 85% can’t play.

LOL!!

You have me confused with Paul. I speak about the same 12-15 players all offseason leading up to the draft. I don’t know why you keep saying that.

Some of those players may have been mentioned as potential prospects, but you didn’t consistently see SOME them on my mocks. I loved Khalil Mack as well but he wasn’t in any of my official mocks

I may mention the same players 20 times but not different players. again YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FACT STRAIGHT…

Cyril Richardson starts for the Bills,

Deone Buchannon starts for the Cardinals,

Jeremiah Attouchu, plays behind the high priced Dwight Freeney – Freeney will be a cap casualty next year because Attouchu, brings more energy to the position – unlike Marcus Smith

Kony Ealy is 2nd string behind Wes Horton for the Panthers – I have no problem saying that because he is still a better prospect than Marcus Smith, and unlike Smith will be starting soon enough..

Gabe Jackson starts for the Oakland Raiders

Walt Aikens, and Pierre Desir, are both 3rd string on the Browns, and Dolphins; Aikens is being trained to play the Strong Safety, and Desir at Cornerback – Both coming from small schools – Linwood, and Liberty, you can’t think they were going to make an impression immediately. But they are both good prospects for depth, that will be starting sometime in their career…..

DeMarcus Lawrence is injured, and hasn’t played a game this year.

Kyle Fuller is starting for the Bears – DAY 1……

All that says IS you can kiss my ass E0S, because if the Eagles had drafted any of those players, their talent level would be much better.

These are the players I MOCKED all offseason….what percentage is that Jackass??? You’re just a hater.

Are you looking forward to Jameis Winston’s NFL Career? I am, so I can tell you again – YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT – and I told you so….

Oh I forgot to mention Ethan Westbrook, and Andrew Jackson.

Andrew Jackson is 3rd string ILB for the Colts, Good depth player, has a chance to be a starter with more experience…6th round pick

Ethan Westbrook is 2nd string – but has started 5 games this year coming from small West Texas A&M. Bright Future for an UDFA….

Paul that more tackles than Marcus Smith brother….

But you don’t think that is a major accomplishment for that young man to come from West Texas A&M, to make an NFL Roster??

You don’t think that says anything about his potential, or talent?

Don’t minimize it because he has 4 tackles – He wasn’t a high pick with expectations….I give kudos to him in the same way, I give kudos to Beau Allen…..nice job for someone not expected to contribute.

Izzy I agree with you 100% the Gm and paul mocks are fun/funny to read. Paul loves to make 100 predictions one of which will be correct and he crows about it, the other 99 are explained away. GM on the other hand has some sort of thing about not getting paid to be a real GM– actually graded the eagles draft of 13 a D- when in fact rounds one and two have probable pro bowlers, round three a good solid interior lineman and I believe some special teamers and PT contributors in the later rounds.

Janoris Jenkins was getting roasting the last 3 weeks anyway, that might be a blessing in disguise. Kyle Fuller was playing Defensive ROY football ( big loss). The Redskins Orakpo, The Chiefs Berry and Lions Bush always seem to be injured don’t they? Bryce Brown fumbles next week ( guarantee)

Getting a 4th rd pick for Bryce Brown was highway robbery by Roseman and Co.

I like Janoris Jenkins alot and was hoping we would take a run at him in the draft. He is getting roasted this year compared to last because he is trying to jump EVERYTHING. Hes more reckless version of Asante Samuel right now. Kid still has skills though however with the Rams lack of pass rush hes getting exposed. Put him on a team with a better pass rush and his ballhawking skills would be on display.

4th round pick was conditional. Could have been a 3rd that would rollover into 2016 if Bryce Brown hit certain marks which at first I doubt he would but with both Spiller and Jackson gone who knows…possible.

The only other thing is that pick is somehow tied into the Stevie Johnson trade so that confuses me. I believe we get the 4th this year if Stevie hits certain marks if not we get 2016.

However they have all of their picks next year.

JJ Watt vs Big Ben tonight.
Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Brett Keisel in a beard off.
Troy Polamalu is so easy to expose in the passing game but Fitzpatrick is so dumb in the passing game I am unsure he will be able to complete passes when they get Polamalu isolated. Tough call who wins this game. I’ll go Texans 15 – 14.

Huge Game tonight with both Teams going in at 3-3
the Loser will drop to 3-4 and have an uphill battle to make the Post-Season
I like the Steelers to Win at home on the Arm of Big-Ben to WR Antonio Brown Brown & TE Heath Miller
The only real shot Texans has, is for RB Arian Foster to get off to a fast start have a big Game which he is capable of versus a softer Steeler Defense… By QB Fitzpatrick has to play a smart, clean game and make a few big plays which I am not sure he’s capable of doing…

Actually RG3 and his people arent laughing…because he already cost himself a contract extension and will have 7 games to showcase his skills for a team that more than likely will have quit by the time he suits up.

Not to mention Gruden has put him on notice that if he doesnt want to run and make plays out of the pocket than he wont play. Most people not following the Skins dont understand that RG3 has made it know by both him and comments by his father that they dont want him to be a running QB at all.

Bob is turning into McNabb.

Kirk Cousins interceptions are the equivalent to Bobs 7 step drop roll right go out of bounds for 8yd loss. Or break his ankle.
