Phillies Sign Chad Billingsley

billThe Phillies have added another arm to their rotation, coming to terms with starter Chad Billingsley.

Billingsley was once a top pitcher in the Dodgers’ rotation, but hasn’t pitched since 2013 because of elbow problems.

Billingsley will be in the mix for a spot in the team’s rotation, which already includes Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, and Aaron Harang, with Jerome Williams and David Buchanan fighting for the final two spots in the rotation.

Ruben Amaro continues to add the elderly and the injured to this roster. And he also keeps adding pitching.

At what point is this organization going to try to find a bat?

Not a bad pickup..
If and when healthy, Billingsly is effective
And can chew up innings..
Low risk with a Player trying to
Jump-start his Career which could pay off
The Phiks a pitching with Rotation of
Hamels,Lee, Billingsly, Harrange and Buchannan
Is not bad with their young and talented Bullpen
2015 obviously comes down to Ryan Howard,Utley,
Ruiz & Brown… If this group of 4 Players and their middle
Of the Line-up can Produce, then they will be in most Games
The CF & 3B Asche should improve with more experience
OF Grady Sizemore is a Wildcard
Who knows… Go Phils!!!

as you state paul he rotation is pretty decent– and ‘deep’, meaning ‘deep with questions’–
the absolute only hope to compete is if brown magically turns into the type of player that all of baseball wanted a few years back—
and of course somehow howard can hit 35==
interesting about the new commisioner and the shift??? baseball is trying desparately to get more offense- i heard one of those metrics dudes on the radio say that if they outlawed the over shift howard would have hit like 255-260 last year with approximately 15 more RBI… who knows…

I hope that they don’t try to limit the shift. Ridiculous. There will literally have to be lines drawn that you cannot cross, because defensive players will be pushing the limits.

And honestly, learn to hit the ball the other way.

bugs it is just one thought to get the offense back into the game—baseball is really getting back to the days of low scoring games (which i don’t mind but i’m old) – i think the metrics thing for pitchers and defense has crippled hitting in general–
i read a thing that .280 is the new .300– and 25 homeruns is the new 35….

That’s about right…
We all know Top Pitching really shines in the Pist-Season, but to get there, you have to Score Runs with some Power Guys and
Good situational hitting where you move runners,
Sacrifice or clutch hits where you can sneak a run or 2
In over a course of a Game..
This is the Post-Steroid ERA that Baseball
Is in so batting .270 with 25 HR’s 85RBI’s is
Considered good MLB Production

Unless it was one of the Cubans, I won’t no part of adding a bat to the lineup. This lineup needs to be turned over before they start adding contracts. This deal and the one for Harang are moves that you make when you are stuck like they are. They are not going to contend this year and probably not next year. These guys are holdovers.

Billingsley is low cost unless he pitches

i believe that is the plan– these guys will be stop gaps– then hopefully the 4-5 young arms they have in minors will be ready when its time to get a bat or two and hopefully- asche, crawford and franco amount to something…
does anyone know is tommy joseph done? damn shame what happened to him???

“Sixers Win” tonite good game by noel 6 blocks and controlled the paint the whole night….MCW with a triple double…..and Lord Covington clutch in the 4th qtr….but my game ball goes to jerami grant he carried the team early in the fourth and help give us our biggest lead of the night….WIth mcdaniels and grant off the bench we actually have a pretty decent bench….this young team is jelling…not so much with T wolves wiggins struggled tonite against equally athlectic players in mcdaniels and grant….and of course noel….very happy where this team is going…look noel will never be a 20 10 guy but he has the ability to become a noah or jordan from clips….but our 20 and 10 is here in Joel….bright future for the sixers

I’m good man, hoping for a good Super Bowl. By the way I am shocked at the progression of Jerami Grant he is ridiculous.

Noels projection was always a Tyson Chandler Joakim Noah type. Closer to Noah because of his all around game.

Jerami Grant has the potential to be a Tony Allen type. He intrigues me more than McDaniels. His athleticism is RIDICULOUS.

Z I I’ve been telling you these young boys going to be alright and nobody wanted to listen lol.

MCW playing as a pass first point guard looks great in comparison to him trying to be a scorer. If we could develop him out of the post he would be even better.

Izell I think his potential is way above a Tony Allen.

Big Tony Allen is not a slight comparison. I think Tony Allen is one of the best on ball defenders the league has ever seen. IMO he single handedly kept the Celtics above the Cavs with what he did against Lebron.

I think Grant will have even more potential when this team can space the floor and he can run the lanes. If he can become a lights out 3-and D player that would be tremendous.

Dude ive alwayz seen the potential of this team…. we are finally seeing the young boys gellin… mcw being pass first is what he should be and him in the post would be great with his lenght…. noel is exactly like noel just a stat machine….blocks…..steals…..rebounds…..hustle plays……and he can pass the ball very well as you seen with the alley op last nite…..but man this grant guy intrigues me a lot…. he can shoot the three now and his defense is great i mean for real he had 8 blocks the other night….the future is definely noel….mcw….lord cov…..mcdaniels…..grant…..joel…..shit and even our veteran lubam moute is a solid player for the young guys plus he helps emblid being from same country….. a solid scorer next year in draft and this team wont need any high priced free agents

The job Brett Brown is doing can not be overstated. His label of being a great player development guy, he had more than lived up to.

Seriously he has developed this talent very well i think mcdaniels is like a gerald green kawhi lenard mix. needs to get stronger and ball handle is not that good he turns it over a lot….. but he will be ok….izell did you see jerami Again tonite 4/4 from field and 2/2 from 3…..the guy is becoming a 3 point expert….we should have won if lord cov didnt miss so many shots…he needs to bring his shot attempts down and let mcdaniels and grant shoot more but i still like tge gunner

I really like stanley johnson i think we get him due to the fact we are the 4TH worse team in nba now…but with that second 1st rounder from miami we get miles turner from texas a great shot blocker with a 3 point shot at 6 10 he would be a great stretch 4 off the bench just hope he falls to

I would package the Miami pick and try top move back into the first round or trade for more picks down the road
