The “Shady” Ways Of Chip Kelly

Chip KellyTrading McCoy is the biggest move to date for head coach Chip Kelly; that is until free agency and the NFL draft get under way.
Year three, Chip has all the power. Whatever the expectations were even with the idea that McCoy could be moved in the offseason; actually seeing the breaking news headline shocked Eagle fans. The veterans released up until that point could be rationalized; the trade with Buffalo opened the door for criticism if handing over power to Chip was an intelligent decision.
Will the ways of Chip catch up to him?
Oh the mere days when it was all about the music at practice, smoothies and quick pace offense. The new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles was witty with his interviews, the media ate out of his hands and fans were open to this new “era” of football. The honeymoon is over, and people are not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
What’s next is going to keep everyone guessing and speculating as the Eagles stay quiet until the scheduled dates the NFL has them speak to the media. The Eagles had plenty of roster holes as the season ended, and with the moves that have transpired since, the Eagles need to add depth at pretty much every position other than punter and kicker.
Names like Foles, Maclin, Peters, Kendricks, Mathis, Johnson and Cox could all be moved. I’m sure if Chip could get any value for Boykin or Curry he would gladly part with guys who have starter worthy talent but who don’t fit the 3-4 scheme.
Trading McCoy shows that Chip is able to make player for player deals in a league where it simply doesn’t happen like the other three major sports markets. Why not call the Chicago Bears and see what it would cost to get Brandon Marshall as long as they can redo his current deal. I know Marshall is 30, but I’d welcome the addition of both the player and the personality, and the “majority” of Philly would love the guy.
Is there anything that is off the table with ideas for trades when it comes to Chip? It would appear that he is going to get his guys by whatever means necessary.
-Over fifty million available to be aggressive in free agency, that could certainly buy talent, but we have also seen this strategy backfire a few years back.
-By trading McCoy, other owners are aware that if you want to try and work a trade, Chip Kelly is certainly one of the first calls to make.
Chip isn’t doing anything by the books, he is writing his own story. He isn’t sharing anything. Not listening to what others think or suggest.
The motto remains, “trust in Chip.” Do you? Should you?

He speaks quickly and tells a good story, but can he build a Super Bowl winning football team?

The only history we have of Chip Kelly as an architect is what he built over in Oregon

We all can agree that he built a powerhouse program that remains intact to this day.

The offense, defense, the style, the flare and success on the field, everything that he built there remains the same since he left

That’s what Chip is trying to build here in Philly

Can he be successful?

Yes

Will he be successful?

Yes

He now has a track record and history of building up a program in the image that he wants it to be, and winning games

All he does is win no matter what

Thats all he knows

We’re now in the beginning stages of Chip as the architect as he shapes and molds this team to his liking

As I mentioned yesterday, all players are on deck. Anyone on this team can get the ax

Especially guys looking for more money or a new deal.

Chip would rather get rid of them since theyre not his guys anyway and would wanna bring his guys in at a cheaper cost

Its really a “genius” move if you ask me

Hes unconventional

As mentioned, player for player trades is something we see only in madden nfl football games

Hes willingly to do whatever it takes to make the Eagles a championship contender year after year after year after year

Just like he did in Oregon who just came off a trip to the national championship game

Just like Bill Belicheck did in New England as the architect and head of personnel decisions

Just like Pete Carroll did in Seattle as the architect and head of personnel decisions

This thing is being tore down so it can be built up to those championship ranks for years to come…

Chip is looking to create a monster, the beast of the east, and hes going to start with that defense

The eagles won’t have to give up alot to get the 6th overall pick from the Jets due in part to what the the Falcons gave up to move up and get julio jones
Cleveland gave up the 6th overall pick to
Atlanta for the 27th,59th and 124 in the 2011 draft
And 1st and 4th sin the 201 draft

Now the eagles are picking 7picks earlier than what the Falcons did ,a package of
2015 picks- 1st and 4th Rd picks as well as a 3rd in 2016 plus foles and Kendricks should get the deal done.

Actually your swapping qbs and I don’t want give up Kendricks either but maybe they draft his brother in the 2nd Rd. And would you rather give that up or what everybody else has sad three 1st Rd picks + other picks.

Well then we might as well just give up 4 1st Rd picks then instead of the package I said. Just so we keep foles and Kendricks. Just do the math Ryans is still on the roster abd is getting paid 6.9 mill ke sticks is gone part of the trade up for MM then they will groom Marcus smith behind Ryans with him ready to take his place in 2016. No matter what Kendricks is gone unless demeco is,cut or restructures and I see neither happening. So your 2016 lb cor will be worlids, smith,Alonso & barwin unless they draft Kendricks brother.

It makes no sense at all for those 3 lbs to be here one of the 2 needs to go. And the Atlanta trade is what the eagles need to look at when doing a trade with the Jets and a way to save draft picks you throw in players instead.

FUCK THAT NO I DONT TRUST THE GUY. DUDE CUT DESEAN AND REPLACED HIM WITH COOPER IN THE STARTING LINEUP. LET MACLIN WALK NOW WE GET MATTHEWS TO TAKE HIS SPOT (IM OK WITH THAT) BUT LETTING MATTHEWS TAKE OVER #1 WR MEANS HUFF IS OUR SLOT GUY – HOW MANY DROPS, FUMBLES, BONEHEADED PLAYS DOES HE MAKE THIS YEAR?

Well, this team haven’t won shit in how long?

Like I said before….Eagles fans don’t know what to get upset over being fans of a perennial loser to mediocre team.

Chip Kelly should be able to build the team with the players he feels gives his scheme the best chance to win.

What’s the big deal here?

When was the last time we have won a playoff game?

Chip is an innovator and there’s no situation any of us can compare to know if this will work or not work.

I remember when the Cowboys first traded Hershel and the media and Cowboys fans made a big stink.

How could we trade our biggest star for the uncertainty of the draft.

Now, Chip’s situation is not the same but I’m using that as an example for those who are drawing conclusions before we’ve seen Chip’s full plan accomplished.

We’ve only seen one phase of the offseason and these moves tells me Chip has a plan.

Shady is not Marshon Lynch, Maclin is not Randy Moss.

These are replaceable parts Chip can mold for the future.

Let the offseason play out guys because I’m really looking at the scenarios and know for sure that Chip’s next QB won’t lead the league in turnovers before going down with another season ending injury.

Chip will not allow the defense to go another season with the worse damn secondary in the NFL.

That alone give us Eagles fans something positive to look forward to.

Chip has seen the league first hand for 2 years and now know what he need to do to take our Eagles to the next level, so hold on guys.

Chip is in charge.

A top type Super bowl type RB get the 1 yard when the blocking breaks down.

Finds the end zone 3 yards out.

Shady is great to watch but he just don’t have that hard nose running style that translates to playoff wins and Super Bowls.

Even Marshall Faulk knew how to hit it in there hard when needed.

My question is to the people that blindly support Chip…if the Eagles win 4 games this year and Mariota is horrible at making decisions as an NFL passer will you continue to rationalize every Kelly decision as something that will benefit the Eagles sometime in the future? There’s a guy named Shannahan that had a similar “hair on fire” approach and he’s currently unemployed.

jeff i dont think there is baggage with marshall nowadays that wasnt why i said that…

strike 1 for marshall – i said that because chip has purged the “look at me guys” on the roster (mccoy, cary, desean…) marshall is a look at me guy that will talk shit in the media which doesnt fit with chip even though what he says to the media is real

strike 2 for marshall – chip wants guys that buy in and mostly prefers young guys so he can mold them his way. marshall is not young and you think marshall is the type of guy that wants to practice at chips pace and practice on saturdays and eat what chip tells him to eat and wear sleep monitors?

strike 3 – he is not a duck!

i say 0.00000% chance we trade for him and 0.000000001% we sign him if he was released (only because there were rumors we tried to get vincent jackson)

i think chip is done at wr. he believes in system over talent. i think matthews is our #1 (he is not a slot wr…), cooper is our #2 (puke) and his boy huff is our slot guy (which i think fits huff well). he will draft coopers replacement this year

Thats why you trade them now before they hit FA next year and you get nothing for them

Because after this season, they’re both walking. Vinny was disgruntled this past year and wanted to be played more or traded

Boykin too wanted out and still does, called himself “just a nickle” … he wants out.

He feels hes a outside starting caliber CB, though we feel hes too small

You trade them and get value for them now b4 its too late

There’s little doubt that Vinny Curry and Boykin do not fit Chip Kelly’s Future Roster and it would be wise to Trade them over Draft Weekend

Vinny Curry fits a 4-3 DE Scheme Team the Best and probably could Return a 4th Rounder
Boykin is a Solid Nickel Back and Special Teamer and probably returns a 5th Round Pick

Here goes one mans predictions on what the Eagles might do, I would be fine with that.

In all, I predict the Eagles’ free-agency period will conclude with the signings of the following players: quarterback Mark Sanchez, running backs C.J. Spiller and Chris Polk, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, linebacker Dan Skuta, cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and Davon House and safety Rahim Moore. That’s not the Dream Team 2.0 either. Instead it’s a number of players still in their prime, unlike 2011, who fit very specific roles on a defense that will not feature any major coaching or scheme changes from 2014 to 2015. With those signings, the Eagles would still have around $15 million available in cap space. That’s pretty impressive to roll over into the next season.

Add a possible trade up in the draft for Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, and Kelly may be building something pretty special in Philadelphia. He certainly has the money for it.

With veteran receivers like Decker n now Marshall theirs no way the Jets are going into the season with a rookie QB especiallly with a guy with no patience like Marshall, Foles would definitely be the guy for them, I see the trade happening if mariota falls to six, I also see an extra player or two thrown in instead of a bunch of picks. foles was not a scout team qb his rookie year he was the backup qb who bowles watched day in day handle a ton of reps in training camp, during the season, then watched him start 7 games for an injured scrub mike vick.

did he get close to foles ? who knows dont care either

but what did happen that year was bowles eyes worked like every other coach that year, they saw what foles could and could not do. there is a comfort level with coaches. all coaches ESPECIALLY new ones prefer the known to the unknown. even if bowles brings in foles to compete with geno it makes sense… he will get a winning qb for a cheap look for a year, #20 pick to get what he wants (a corner), plus a another player and/or 1 or 2 more picks

then in 2014 bowles scouted and played against him again. foles went 36-62 , 411 yards, 2 tds and 2 ints and eagles lost a close one

bowles is probably more familiar with foles than any other qb in the game HOMIE

Wilkerson, Couples and Sheldon Richardson,
Why add a Fletcher Cox who is about to go into a Contract Year?

Jets just Resigned ILB and Defensive Captain David Harris for 3 Years so M Kendricks is probably out of the picture

Jets OC Chan Gailey likes an up-tempo Offense (Not at Chip Kelly’s Speed or a Read Option) but he likes mobile, athletic QB’s who can roll out & pass, etc, etc, These are not strengths of Nick Foles..

Well the problem is that I have this 3-D poster of Shady in my office. My ways re not Chip’s ways I guess. I still believe they would have had more wins with D Jax on the team this past year. How could they not have? he’s a god coach and a smarter man than any of us minus PaulMan. I’ll refrain from the speculation, and will just enjoy the ride. We all have to admit it is quite entertaining. We’ll be off better in the long run. Best wishes Shady. You’re a great one! Sad that you’re going to a crappy team.

Maxwell is a lock to be a Eagle. A deal will be agreed upon tomorrow..I heard today that Maxwells reps were flying into Philly late tonight. Yesterday I was watching one of the ESPNs and Maxwell was on and they had him playing a dating game. 3 people were told to sell there city to him and for him to pick which one was best. He picked and it was Jacksonville. They said are you ok with that he said “we will see”. Then they told him he didn’t pick Philly he immediately said can I change my pick. He will defiantly be a Eagle.

Jerry Hughes and Pernell Mcphee at OLB’s (Worilds as Back-up)
Jared Odrick at DT (Which won’t happen)
WR’s T Smith & B Hartline (K Britt, H Nicks as a Back-Up Plan)
QB J Locker (M Sanchez as a Back-Up Plan)

It’s already looking like Maxwell, McCourty, and Woirlds are locks Paul – no mediocrity bruh…

I would like to see Orlando Franklin, Davon House, and a running back not named Frank Gore signed as well.

I have mixed feelings about the McCoy trade. Its bitter-sweet for me. I understand the salary dump, but I also don’t think the Eagles got anything close to equal value; and Buffalo robbed them.

I still don’t think it’s wise to trade up for Mariota, who I still say will be an average to below average pro.

My draft wish List :
1. Alvin Dupree – OLB
2a. Eli Harold – OLB
2b. Quinton Rollins – CB
3a. Breshard Perryman – WR
3b. Stephone Anthony – ILB
4a. Donovan Smith – OT
4b. Jaquiski Tartt – S
4c. David Johnson – RB
5. Tre McBride – WR/PR/KR
6. Jarvis Harrison – OG
7. Brandon Bridge – QB

I like this Draft GMCliff.
Good Job…
I would like the Eagles to Trade Curry,Boykin
For some more picks or used with lower Pick to get back into
The 2nd/3rd Rounds

Do you think Maclin Stays and Re-Signs?
I think he’s a goner so WR needs to be addressed
in Free-Agency & Draft ..

It would be wise to keep him, but I think Maclin thinks because he led the team in receiving last year he is entitled to 9-10 million a year.

No, that’s because the QB’s had no one better to throw to; DeSean wasn’t on the other side, otherwise more than half his stats would be his. He is worth paying but no more than 6-7 million, 18 million guaranteed.

Also, If Chip Kelly thinks that Tavares Jackson is a talent, I don’t trust his opinion on draft picks, potential free agents, or talent evaluating in General.

Yeah but you would be surprised that many people don’t know about the cheesesteak angle. Especially a young guy who has been on the west coast for man years. Not sure where he grew up.If he did know the cheesesteak comment it just went right over his head. He probably said oh yeah Philly is the place where they do that cheesesteak thing, never had one.”.

A deal is done with the Jets or whomever they are trading up with. There is noway that the Eagles go into FA and the draft without having a deal already in place or agreed to in principle.. The Eagles already know who they can trade with and what the compensation will be. Something this big you don’t go into draft day fumbling and bumbling on the phone with. The Eagles and whoever they are trading with will want to know what extra picks they are getting or what player they are getting so they can focus on other areas in FA and on there draft boards. Same thing goes with the Eagles . IMO

I agree-

I believe in Foles but am convinced Chip is moving on.

Chip will amaze us all and ship Foles and or other Players, Picks out Prior to the Draft to Move up but likely not all the way to 1.

Chip will not Care if he is Gambling if he is ready to move on from Foles.

If chip is passing on Foles Future then there is NOTHING to gain by playing him JUST Like there was NOTHING to gain BY STARTING VICK in 2013.

We are here because Big Balls lacked the Set to start Foles over Vick in 2013. Had we gotten a Full Year then his Evaluation both Public and Private would have been complete.

Kelly could have been in a better position to draft Mariota this year by Playing Foles Two years ago.

If Foles is not getting a Contract Extension THIS YEAR then he will not Start or Play for the Eagles This Year.

We are Drafting a QB or rolling with Barkley. Foles can not play this year without a commitment from this team long term. His audition is over. You believe or you don’t at this point.

What the hell are you talking about foles is under contract…….he doesnt.have any leverage……he shouldnt have got injured if he wanted a full evaluationv oh yea and not play like shit before he got hurt…..eagles own his ass until his contract is up……barkley will never seevthe field

Dude- If they do not Extend Foles and make him the franchise guy then he (will not) Should Not be on the Roster.

There is no Evaluation to be made He is either the next 5 to 10 years (barring Injury) or he is Gone.

Why play a guy only to let him walk. Nope. Sign him or Trade him for the best pick you can get.

Yea we can pull a flacco and let him play it out……and if he is the man then pay his ass…..but most likely he will be traded….but he’s under evaluation until he proves he is the man

Why would you do that….??

Kelly KNOWS NOW if Foles is his guy. He just is not telling us. If he is not You draft a guy and start him. If you pick Petty or Hundley or whomever You play them NOW. Not next Year NOW.

If we spend Big Money on Defensive F/A I would actually feel more inclined to think that Foles is getting an Extension- Except This is Chip

#Shortsighted- My Offense will leave my defense exposed

You know what I think I have Reached the Love Hate stage.

I love his zeal and conviction. I hate his blindspots

Everyone is all but convinced that kelly will move up and sell the farm for mariota, but that’s not his way

Culture beats talent. The fact that he cut, shipped to Siberia his most talented players should tell you he will not invest so much in one player, even the qb.

He will draft a qb, but not mariota.

The Eagles don’t have a farm to sell.

Chip need his QB or those picks what you guys calls the farm means absolutely nothing.

Now, I do agree there’s a chance things can change on the Mariota front if another team slips ahead and get him, but It’s clear Chip Kelly is done with Foles.

If Mariota is gone then brace yourselves for Hundley for Chip feels he have the athleticism needed to sustain this offense and even though he has a bigger learning curve…Chip can coach him up yo be a serious threat at the NFL level.

I still think Chip find away to get Mariota to build “a farm” that will contend for more than “the weaklings” Champion.
