Notes From The Phillies’ 6-5 Win Over Detroit

jeromeThe Philadelphia Phillies won their Grapefruit League match against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon.

On The Mound

  • Jerome Williams pitched three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. Williams also allowed a home run. 
  • David Buchanan, who is in competition with Williams for a spot in the rotation, pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
  • Hector Neris had a rough outing, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks.
  • Kevin Slowey came in to get the final out of the seventh, and also picked up two outs in the eighth. While Slowey did not allow a run, he did give up four hits.
  • Luis Garcia picked up another save, recording the final four outs of the game.

At The Plate

  • The Phillies scored six runs on eight hits. 
  • Ben Revere went 0-4, dropping his average to .143.
  • Odubel Herrera played second and went 2-4 with a double and scored a run. Herrera is hitting .333 for the spring.
  • Domonic Brown went 0-2 with two walks and scored a run.
  • Ryan Howard went 0-3 and left two men on base, dropping his average to .182.
  • Jeff Francoeur went 2-4 with an RBI.
  • Cody Asche went 1-3 and scored a run.
  • Andres Blanco went 1-4 with a two-run triple.
  • Cameron Rupp went 1-3 with an RBI  double.

Jeff Francouer is having a nice Spring for the Phils
I always liked his Bat and his Throwing Arm from RF when he was Younger..
