Notes From The Phillies’ 16-4 Loss To Baltimore

Cole HamelsThe Philadelphia Phillies lost their Grapefruit League match against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday 16-4.

On The Mound

  • Phillies’ pitching has been solid throughout the first few weeks of Spring Training, but today it turned in a pretty poor performance. 
  • Cole Hamels lasted just two innings, and allowed five runs on six hits and two walks. Hamels also served up a three-run homer.
  • Mike Nesseth followed Hamels by allowing four runs in the third inning.
  • Cesar Jimenez gave up four runs on six hits including two homers in two innings of work.
  • Jake Diekman allowed a run over two innings, but also struck out three.
  • Justin De Fratus pitched 1.2 innings, and allowed two runs on four hits.
  • Jason Berken recorded the final out in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • Darin Mastroianni led off and played right field, going 0-5.
  • Cord Phelps played second, and went 2-3 with an RBI.
  • Chase Utley was the DH, and went 1-3.
  • Ryan Howard went 1-2 with a single and knocked in a run.
  • Grady Sizemore went 1-2 with a walk and an RBI.
  • Cody Asche went 0-3 and left four on base.
  • Darin Ruf went 0-4.
