Eagles Sign DeMeco Ryans To New Two-Year Deal

DeMecoRyans5Eagles veteran inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans signed a new two-year deal today and expects to be ready to go when training camp starts.  Some onlookers thought the trade for Kiko Alonso was a sign the Birds would be saying good-bye to Ryans, but the new deal proves that calculation wrong.

“I like having really good football players,” Eagles head coach Chip Kelly explained. “Mychal (Kendricks) missed some games last year, DeMeco missed games last year, Kiko has missed games. We’re trying to accumulate as many good football players as we can.”

The new two-year deal is worth $7.5 million in base value.  There’s a chance it could be worth up to $10.5 million with $6.25 million of it guaranteed.  It lowers Ryans’ 2015 salary-cap number of $6.9 to about $3 million.  This was probably part of the motivation for the new deal because it frees up cap space.

Ryans has been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.  It’s not an easy injury to come back from especially for a player past 30-years of age.   The former Pro Bowler is confident he’ll return in same form that he left.

“I’ll be ready to go when training camp starts, no doubt,” Ryans told New Jersey Advance Media. “That will be like the end of July I’ll definitely be ready by then. I’ll be out there at the start of camp.”…

Ryans missed the final 9 games of the 2014 season.  He been doing his rehab at the NovaCare Center and says everything is right on schedule.

“It’s going really well,” he said, “I’ve been jogging on the field. The program is right on schedule, there have been no setbacks at all.”

Chip loves Ryans. Personally, I think Kendricks, Boykin, and Mathis are all on their way out. Mathis may not be able to find a team willing to trade and pay for a 34 year old guard so he may well be back. Thurmond can replace Boykin – who we may not be able to resign next year. It’s interesting that the Eagles have spent so much quality pre-draft time with potential ILBs. Maybe Chip trades Boykin and Mathis to Miami for a certain former Oregon OLB. Maybe he uses Boykin to trade up for a Key player

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles keep acquiring bargain/injured players like Oregon corner Ifo Ekpre-Olomu in the second or third round of the draft. They may want Watkins to play safety since he did a lot of it at Florida.
That leaves the first round pick to take the best offensive lineman available to replace Herremans. I would take the best tackle available like Peate from Stanford and plug him right in at guard.
That leaves plenty of picks for another o-lineman, wr and corner.

I’m hoping the draft is about keeping Bradford clean in the pocket and the running lanes open.

We can pretty much guarantee Olumo is drafted by Kelly in the 5th or 6th round. This team is rounding up health risks like they get discounts on Obamacare or something damn.

Stay away from Stanfords Austin Peat , he is dropping down the Draft Board
I see Oregon’s OL Jake Fisher as the Eagles Top Pick in the First Round

And no matter who the Eagles take with the 1st pick its always someone who surprises us. And usually it’s a total reach which ultimately turns out to be a f**cking bust!! Maybe this year they will get it right for a change..

Expect the worst, hope for the best, & don’t be surprised by the idiocy. That’s the motto I’m going to continue to take from now on, until we flush & purge all 4 of our teams, with a giant enema!
