According Ian Rappaport of NFL Media, the Giants have pulled a multi-year $60 million offer to Jason Pierre-Paul off the table, in lieu of the fireworks accident, which occurred over the weekend. Although the injuries are reported to be not career threatening, Pierre-Paul remains in the hospital according to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com.
Back to the pulling of the contract offer, I don’t think the development is major news because JPP wasn’t going to accept the offer from the Giants. He’s already let it be known that he’s going to play for the $14.8 million dollar tender in 2015 and bet on himself. If he has a big year, JPP could walk away with a much bigger deal than $60 million.
Pierre-Paul had 12.5 sacks in 2014, but he finished the year with sacks in his final five games, which has the Giants coaching staff fans anticipating a big year from him. At the beginning of JPP’s career, he was a playing at a future Hall of Famer level, but he hasn’t been the same since he had a back surgery. He was starting to look like the old Pierre-Paul at the end of the 2014 season.
Smart Move by the Giants…
It Appears that JPP will be wearing Big Blue for just one more Season and then will be moving on… I see JPP heading to his Home State of Florida to the Tampa Bay Bucs and HC Lovie Smith who run a 4-3 Scheme or perhaps the Cowboys depending how things work out with DE Greg Hardy…
