Sam Bradford Just Isn’t Getting The Job Done

SamBradford115Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford does have the skill set that NFL personnel people crave, but he’s not getting the job done.  I don’t see the confidence in the pocket.  He’s not seeing the field properly.  There’s something missing.  Maybe he needs to play more games, because he’s been away from the game so long.

I’m willing to give him more time, because the running game was awful and his receivers were just as bad, but the clock is ticking.   I still say he must play much better and he’s got to challenge his teammates to play better as well.

Bradford needs to see the field much better and he needs to know where all of his receivers are.  His decision-making hasn’t been good.  He missed open receivers without pressure in his face.  At times, he seems too eager to get the ball out of his hands.    When he did see the open receives and got the ball to them, they dropped his passes far too many times.  It was comedy of errors for Bradford and the offense.

Despite Bradford’s ability to throw the ball accurately, some of those throws on Sunday were ridiculously bad.  One time near the goal line, Nelson Agholor was wide open on a curl route and Bradford threw the ball four feet over his head.  After the play I was wondering, where was he throwing the ball.

CHERRYHILL_DENTISTRYBradford connected on 23 of 37 passes for 224 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The pass on the interception in the end zone, should have been higher.  He could have thrown it high enough, so that only Zach Ertz could have caught it.  You can’t make that type of mistake in that situation.

The other interception was a little bit behind Ertz and the defender got his hand in there.  You’ve got to throw the ball out in front of the receiver.  That was not an accurate throw.

I can’t blame him for the early snap by Jason Kelce or the team’s inability to run the football, but the Eagles could have beaten the Cowboys with just a passing game.  As bad as the Eagles running game was, the passing game was pathetic as well with the Birds receivers playing as bad as the running  game.

Nobody would have dreamed of this Eagles football team playing so poorly at the start of the of 2015 season.  Yes, the running game is in disarray, but if Bradford had made just a few more good reads and good throws the Eagles could have won the game, because the Cowboys were terrible.  On the day when Dallas set a record for penalties, the Eagles offense was even worse.

He’s also a historic gimp, playing under untenable pressure of a one and done contract, another flawed move by our GM.This further demonstrates to me that he was plan A B C ..to obtain Mariotta. Why else would you snatch him ,probably before he was being released by the Rams?It was public knowledge the Rams were trying to reconstruct not only his twice injured ACL but his inflated contract ,when he hadn’t been on the field in 2 consecutive years.Than miraculously a GM on a white horse rode into town..what GM wouldn’t first renegotiate his deal as a conditional ,before making this deal? One thing was clear when Cleveland and was rumored ,Sam wouldn’t renegotiate with Cleveland, even they made that a conditional part of the dialogue.Chip only had his eye on the prize ,MM. Yet another part of the rubble, that now lies at his webbed feet

There is no way Bradford was “the plan”. I cannot believe that anybody in an NFL front office, let alone any sane person, could believe this notorious “bail out” artist could be a solution to a team’s quarterbacking issues.

He was about to be released, and even Koolidiot now can see why (though he won’t admit it) until miraculously (for the Rams) Kelly rode into town offering a better QB and draft picks. Egad.

Bradford plays QB like the knights in The Holy Grail. “Run Away! Run Away!”

STL fan has always known this, now Eagle fan knows it too.

If you dismantle the team ,and destroy continuity on the offensive line ,allow pro bowlers to leave through the exit doors and not be compensated ,this isn’t too difficult to foresee.

3rd and 21. “Hut”. No pressure. Immediately looked left and tossed a 2 yard flare to the RB who gained 4.

Threw that pathetic dump of at about 1.3 seconds.

Do you really think, barring injury, that kelly can announce his failure so early?

Bradford is “the symbol”. He traded his starting QB and a 2nd and then announced it was because they were taking a shot for “greatness”. Bradford was the guy who could lead them to the promised land.

The fact that every logical football fan who had ever watched him play scoffed at the idea is irrelevant.

Chip traded for, then announced that this was “The Guy”. Bradford is the face of this thing….and I think Kelly is going down with the ship.

I would be surprised if he were to take bradford out announcing to the world what a colossal mistake he made….but who knows.

Sam Bradford<Nick Foles.

Nick Foles is the only QB to look good in Chip's offense. His numbers dropped off last year (along with McCoy's) because this Offensive line is truly offensive, and coaches have figured out Chips's gimmicky offense.

X, I’ve been calling this fraud out for 3 years. I hate being right when it comes to the Eagles but I could smell his stink all the way down in Duval. He just doesn’t understand that without actual NFL talent schemes mean nothing. I keep telling everyone bringing Vick back was my first clue to the arrogance and ego this guy was brining to the table.

You are Correct Biggie and you have been consistent with your Posts about your concern about Chip Kelly and that he was probably not the right Coach for the Eagles and I agree with your assessment and was not a believer in his
“College-Up Tempo/Horizontal Scheme” to be a sustainable Success as a base Scheme in the NFL.. Run it once in a while to throw Teams off works great like many Teams do (Patriots, Steelers,Packers, etc, etc) but as a Base Offense of constantly running Plays every 20 Seconds is stupid and exposes an Eagle Team with a inherited weak Defense even that much more
I can’t wait until Chip Kelly is out of Philly…

LOL Big, you have been consistent with calling Chip out. I sensed the snake oil salesman in him but I relented and backed away. I was taught to always go with my gut feeling and first answer. Chip has took away the nasty in this team, no attitude, no killer instinct, no killer. Chip is so caught up in the military, those guys are disciplined, but on the field of battle they are killers with a killer mentality, I don’t see it and Chip is responsible for emasculating this team. This team has no dog in them, just good guys….soft and finesse.

Of course, you are pretty easy to sway EHL – just two weeks ago you were apologizing to koolbreeze/songs for not questioning how great Bradford would be for the team….

I was never Kelly’s biggest fan, but he’s far from an idiot… And I would not consider exchanging McCoy for Murray to be taking away any nasty… Same thing with the subtraction of some other star players that flat-out quit on Andy Reid as I recall.

This season has a long way to go and I think it’s a bit too soon to jump off the boat.

Irish, I said Kool was right about Foles and he was, never backed off of that and never will. I also said that Foles could not be a franchise QB before the season ended last year..so there is that. I apologized to kool..no shame in that. As far as Bradford is concerned, I had been stated that I want the Eagles to get Cal QB Jared Goff. Bradford played well in the preseason, when he was in. No reason for me to think it could not carry over. I also stated that they should not have traded DJax, never backed off of that even though some of you stiffs were crying abut culture…well, look at how many yards and TD culture has scored.

What do you want a cookie and a box of Kleenex?I do not agree with the moves Chip made at WR, and the corp is weak, I also was not on board with the Kelly hiring, but willing to give him a chance, as a fan, had little choice. As a fan, i am rooting that bradford somehow becomes this qb to take them to thte promised land… however, last year with a mess of an OL Foles led them to a 6-2 record. foles is 17-10 as a starter including that dismal AR team in 2012. Bradford is 18-32-1. They both have played with some horrible teams… they both have played on chip kelly teams… we traded a guy that is 17-10 as an NFL STARTER for one that is 18-32 as an NFL STARTER… And the response we get is ‘his upside’, ‘his talent’ etc… upside is a term for a rookie and talent (according to everyone on here) wins games… why hasn’t he won?

Foles led us to a 6-2 record? Foles was aided by outstanding special teams play as well as the defense playing well. Foles’s play actually had many admitting that his 27ts 2 int year was more fluke if anything. And I’m hardly a Foles hater. That oline barely gave up any sacks. They were piss poor run blocking, but the passed protected quite well. Foles simply didn’t play well. Bradford on the other hand does not look as confident, but he hardly can be deemed the primary problem. The recv corp has not shown up. He is getting nothing from them. And this oline is clearly worst than at any time last year. I truly wish Vick had not pulled up lame in 2013.

Look at his so called plan last off season he had no plan if he did we wouldn’t have Murray and Matthews wasting away, he lucked into Murray after Gore bailed. The Gimp is only here because he couldn’t get Mariota. Hicks was a smart pick up but only because of medical questions to Alonso and Ryans. I could go on and on why sign Matthews slide some of that coin to keep Maclin. Thurmond is a great slot corner but couldn’t stay healthy but he’s playing safety. Told all you guys Maxwell sucked, man oh man and I haven’t even mentioned the lack of foresight to fix the oline. What am I missing and no I’m not even going to bring Djax into this. But you should mention DJack Biggie -all day long – because both he, and Maclin should be here. This is a perfect example of reinventing the wheel, and it not working

I talked about drafting Offensive Lineman for the last 3 drafts – and Larry Warford, and Gabe Jackson would look good playing Guard for us huh??!!

I also have stated that “WE HAVE NO PASS RUSH” I like our front 3, but the Pass Rush comes from the OLB position. I screamed, and begged for them to go after Justin Houston, and give up the draft picks in 16′ – and 17′ draft – and draft Bud Dupree, and if we wanted to keep Barwin around use him in the middle in creative ways – especially to cover TE’s

I too, wanted Ken Norton Jr to replace Billy Davis. He knows how to use Byron Maxwell, and play a more aggressive defense.

Now, I think Chip will hightail it to College for sure at some point in time. If the Saints season continues to fall apart. I pray they fire Sean Peyton, and the Jags fire Gus Bradley – there is our New Head Coach, and Defensive Coordinator..

Free Agent Targets –
– Kelechi Osemele, Brandon Brooks – OG
– Josh Norman – CB
– Hussain Abdullah – S
– Make a trade for 2017 FA – Jamie Collins – ILB

You guys know me, got to lay down draft picks….

1a. Myles Garrett – 6-5 255 4.6 – OLB – Texas A&M
1b. Tyler Boyd – 6-3 218 4.3 – WR – Pittsburgh
2. Vadal Alexander – 6-5 338 – OG – LSU
3. Tony Conner – 6-1 210 – S – Mississippi

He should sit for a year or 2 behind Bradford. He may have to learn a whole new system if Chip takes off.

Cliff, the loss of that 2nd round pick is killer. I like your draft prospects, I gotta go Jared Goff over your boy Jacoby. Your guy Walter has Goff rated as the #1 overall QB in the 2016 draft, funny I was touting Goff last year when Walter did not even have him on his radar. He has J. Brissett as a 5th rounder, he should move up by draft time. I also like WR Quincy Adeboyjo from Ole Miss, he would be my second rounder. If I could not get Goff in the first I would go O line.

I saw that Eagle, but Walt doesn’t influence my opinion though. I think Brissett has all the tools, and is a duel threat as a runner. The rest is up to him.

He – Walt – also has Cordale Jones ranked higher, and I think Jones isn’t an NFL QB; a man amongst boys in College, that played well in the Championship game, so many will put more stock in that game than they should.

Goff is an excellent prospect as well, but my choice hasn’t changed.

Let’s be honest, if you watched football your entire life you can see this in his googled eye stare. I am beyond pissed than we gave up Foles and a 2nd…let’s say that again…and a 2nd for this known commodity…LOSER. He doesn’t even look like a QB, all that body Armor. Listen we can;t win like this at all. We need to sit anyone hurt and bite the bullet this year. Just lose every flipping game. Honestly, I blame a lot of the problems in the first two games on Chip’s play calling. There’s no doubt that the offensive line is struggling to get in sync, and Brent Celek has missed more blocks in the first two games than he has in full seasons- but is there some rule that says every drive has to start with a hand-off to Murray?

Has he called any bubble screens? Has he passed on first down yet at all?

Yeah, Bradford is not that great, but we knew that two years ago. It was a mistake to trade Foles for him. An even-up swap of those two would be a win for the Rams in my mind – but now that we have Bradford, Kelly could do a better job of play calling.

We all knew that in order to be successful we would have to run the ball! This was well established and understood even by guys like EHL and Vinniedafool.
With losing Maclin, we all knew that we had no deep speed receivers at all..to expect a rookie to instantly replace Maclin is ridiculous.
Therefore, everyone knew that the running game would be the staple of the offense and we neede Bradford to manage the game, get rid of the ball quickly, and have our receivers get YAC.
Only a fool expected Bradford to be Tom Brady…Stop with the bullshit
The question is simple can the Eagles fix the running game…if the answer is no…Chip Kelly has to take the weight…its his team, his decisions, his fuck up….but again stop with the Nick Foles Qb bullshit

Foles had a full year in the offense, more weapons and a much better running game and he stunk…Bradford is playing for the third time in 2 years with no running game, no receivers…new to the offense….he has had numerous first downs dropped by receivers including one drop that was leading to a game winning drive. As much as I hated Foles, I gave him more than 2 games!

For a guy who hasn’t played in two years, under these circumstances Bradford has not been that bad at all.

1 – You didn’t give Foles 2 weeks in preseason.

2 – We’ve given Bradford 5 years and 2 games.

3 – Steve Young was a rookie in TB. There are different expectations for QBs over their first 16 games.

That’s something you clearly don’t understand.

In fact that’s one of the strangest things about you. You immediately turn or ridicule Young inexperienced QBs like Foles, or in this case Young….ripping them for “Dallas game!” when its their what? 8th start?

Yet you have this ridiculous love for these flawed (terrible) guys like Bradford and Vick, whodespite sucking for years and years you defend to the end.

Newsflash: Just because some SI article said they were the next big thing, or some GM made them the #1 pick does not mean they have more “skill” or “talent” or ability to win in the NFL.

You constantly hype and praise this journeymen QBs with losing records, at the same time piling on the one and only Eagles QB with a winning record since 2004.

Its fucking weird.

Under Kelly:
Vick 2-4
Foles 14-4
Butt fumble ( who you also loved) 4-4
Sam I am 0-2.
Dunno here we go again… Vick, butt and Bradford all get passes for their losses, Foles gets BLAME in his 14 wins…I know winning means nothing

Predictably ,behind this O line, Sam will either conveniently ,or traumatically be trampled and yesterday’s news.Guys off the street are not up to the caliber of top notch front 7’s.This obvious void ,is the responsIbility of Chip.Nobodys blaming Sam (Kool) ,it’s the flawed plan were pointing fingers at.Sam is what he is,a capable pedestrian middle of the pack guy ,especially behind a bunch of Nobodys who can’t win the battles upfront.Thats the frustration, because that’s not fixable. What does come to mind is why Sam gambled ,by. Not taking (thank goodness) the extension that chip was errantly dangling. If he has such a high football IQ he must have known he was sitting in the midst of a death spiral. The truth of the matter is ,If he can’t seE the forest through the trees ,why should we have blind faith in his acumen. His pick 6 in the red zone spoke volumes. Its not his fault ,he needed a GM to provide him with the required weapons ,but great ones ,overcome it all..he’s no great one.

Yeah that O-line garbage only works when you use it huh? Foles went 6-2 last year with less of a line. You’re an idiot. Your picture proves that. Bradford is hot garbage, 18-30. Anyone watching the game saw he has no heart. Isn’t the goal win the Superbowl? Well for most of us it is, not to be right on a 3rd rate web site. I have nothing more to say to you. You can’t admit your wrong, Ride the garbage express all you want. Kelly should be fired. Don’t care if they go 14-2 from here out, I’ve seen enough man.

No hypocrisy from me, take a look in the mirror. Foles because of suspension or injury was missing 3/5 of his line much of the time, they weren’t running effectively, there D was much worse. This current D has played six pretty good quarters even tho the offense is 3 and out time and time again. But Charlie check down doesn’t scare the defense. He was Charlie check down before his injuries… It’s who he is. As for weapons, all your blabber in the off season was how he played for defensive minded coaches with no weapons but he will be great with chip and all these weapons….

Kool I’m willing to give Bradford the benefit of the doubt just like I did Foles when he shit the bed against the Cowboys 2 years ago. I remember how putrid his play was with a far superior recv caste minus Maclin. I knew he wasn’t that bad. But I do find it interesting that so many are not taking Bradford’s almost 2 year layoff into account. And many are questioning his heart. I feel if your knees shredded twice back to back behind porous oline play, some anxiety is almost expected. That being said, he needs to seize the moment and take the bull by the horns make this team his. Or it’s over.

LeSean McCoy said that about the Seahawks last year, they were calling out the Eagles plays before the ball was hiked. Well, the Eagles do not run that many plays, Chip’s offense is pretty basic and simple to decipher. There is a lack of talent on the offensive side of the ball which makes the situation worse. What Huff said is no revelation or surprise, but, Chip needs to draw up and implement some new plays that the talent he does have can execute…especially in the run game….they are not going to stretch the field, that’s for sure.

This is the 4th/5th time in the last 10 Games that we’ve heard about opposing Teams/Defense’s knowing the Plays before they happen based on formations, tendencies, etc,etc
We heard this on last Years Games with the Packers, Seahawks and Cowboys and now with the Falcons (Dan Quinn was DC of Seahawks last Year) & Cowboys again this year..
Believe me, Jets HC Todd Bowles who was the DC last Year for Arizona Cardinals will know a lot of these Plays sop we can expect this again versus the Jets..

Honestly….are the Eagles “trapped” right now?? Bradford is clearly gone at year’s end.

Isn’t this an “all or nothing” year? Do we want the Eagles to go 6-10 or 7-9? 8-8?

What happens if the Birds lose this week? Should they then tank the season??

People are idiots, we traded a QB with a winning record plus a #2 for this guy who needs to go to the wizard for some heart and courage. I lost my mind that day…I am still losing it. What’s next RG3 next year? Lets just keep signing injured busts instead of sucking t up and drafting a stud. Fire Chip Kelly—Even if we win 14 in a row it’s a joke man. SO what comes next. Tank it for Goff (or whomever?)

Firstly, I don;t think that’s a terrible idea….Geoff would be coming in to a decent situation with 2 good rbs, 2 young and promising wrs and a decent young te. A couple free agent olinemen and it might turn around in a couple years.

But….

Can Philly fan handle a rookie QB??

Its a serious question. A rookie come in and will suck for 2 years. Yes there are exceptions, but thats the general rule. Look at Bortles, Carr, Bridgewater….hell even luck.

Ca Philadelphia handle a rookie coming in here and throw 15 tds to 19 ints? You saw how quickly they turned on Foles in what was his 2nd year at the helm when he went 13 and 10 and….”LED THE LEAGUE IN TURNOVERS” and all that. No shit he did.

There’s no patience here. And a good portion of the fanbase always wants the quick fix (clearly so does Kelly” going all in on flash in the pans (vick) and never has beens (Bradford)

Could the city handle a 2-3 year developmental turnaround.

You all know I was all for it in 2010…was begging the Eagles to trade the mirage to Buffalo for the 2 first they offered and start anew.

I understand how long it takes to put a team together around a new signal caller….but I don’t think many are.

But guys….I think this thing is poised to implode, and there are a few year of re-building ahead.

Defense took a beating against Cowboys because The Chipper couldn’t adapt and change a losing game plan.
Kiko Knee,
Kendricks Hamstring,
Thornton Hand,
Hart Shoulder.
Only Hart has a chance to play Sunday listed Day to Day.
This Eagles 3-4 defense goes through a lot of middle linebackers.

First thing I would do is attempt to Trade Sanchez right now to the Cowboys who will be without Tebow for about 8-9 Games.. Maybe Jerry Jones will cough up a 4th Round Pick since they are built to compete this Season at 2-0 and will get Romo for December.. For the Eagles, getting a 4th Rounder helps make up for the loss of a 2nd Rounder going to the Rams in Bradford/Foles Deal.. No Team is picking up Bradford at $13 Million so the Eagles are stuck with him..
Maybe the Bears could be interested in Sanchez since Cutler was injured
Then I look at the Roster and see who else is traceable since I’m tanking the rest of the 2015 Seasonand playing the Young Players..
Can I get a 4th Rounder for Jason Peters, a 5th or 6th for Celek.. Maybe a 5th for Ryan Matthews, a 7th for Miles Austin..I play Bradford for the Season and see what happens and let him take his lumps for $13 Million and then let him walk after the Season..
I let all the young Players play and see what happens.. Matthews,Huff & Agholor, I let Kenjon Barner be the 3rd RD, Ertz & Burton at TE
On Defense, I play MS2, Hicks & Rowe & Rice everyGame to see what they got
Now onto Next Off-Season , I’ve cleared Bradford’s, J Peters, B Celek, R Matthews Contract $$ and I go out and Spend on OL & WR and now I have multiple Draft Picks in Rounds 3,4,5,6 & 7 and then look to package some together to get the QB I want.. I then go into next OTA’s with QB Thad Lewis, Draft Pick and then add a Veteran QB in Free-Agency and get ready for 2016..
If any of the Young Players who played in 2015 Season don’t look like they are NFL material, the release them early in the off-season and I am talking about Huff, MS2,Burton, Barner, Tobin, etc…
If Eagles go to 0-3 which is very likely playing the Motivated Jets, then I am bagging this 2015 Season and getting whatever Value I can from still productive Players who can help legitimate Playoff Teams for Draft Picks..
Would Denver Broncos orPanthers cough up a 3rd Rounder for J Peters, would the Jets, Broncos or Panthers give up a 6th/7th Rounder for Austin
Who knows but to stay status quo with the same group and maybe Win 6-8 Games and lose 10-15 Draft Slots in each Round doesn’t make sense to me at this point.. Drafting in the 15-18th Slot is not getting you a Top QB Prospect
Finishing 4-12 will get you a Top 5 Pick every Round…
Something to think about though it’s very unlikely with Chip Kelly to swallow his pride ..

Flyers sort of tanked last season shipping Timmo and Coburn for a draft picks Provorov and Konecny.

Cowboys just traded for Cassel, the thing that bothers me the most is this is not fixable, the offensive line won’t transform overnight and Bradford won’t turn into a accurate downfield passer, if this goes 0-3 watch how fast guys bail on the system and the Chipper. We shouldn’t be sitting here week three thinking about the 2016 draft. Personally I would’ve traded anything not bolted down for Mariota at least then we’d say okay he went all in for his guy. Right now there’s a 0-2 team race for the basement. All of which need to draft a new QB

Eagles
Saints
Bears
Giants
Texans

I think the Bears are the front runners because they are a mess, but they do have a new coach who will be fighting to develop a winning attitude
Giants have seemingly thrown their last two wins on purpose with “bad” (or perhaps smart) coaching decisions, so they’ll be tough to pass in the race for the bottom
Houston has a good D, so they should be able to squeak out a few wins
Philly – will they do the right thing (if they lose this week) and give up the season?
Saints – hard to see Peyton quitting, but he knows Brees can’t throw any more.

Your right DE, we’ll give this a couple more weeks and see what happens before panicking and blowing this Team up but one thing is for sure, the NFL has caught up with Chip Kelly’s “Horizontal Attack” and unless he changes his Scheme’s a bit, their Offense will struggle putting their Defense further behind
The 8 Ball and putting them on the field too much
Remember the Review for the 2015 Season article 2 + Weeks ago and I listed 3 Concerns about the upcoming season
1) Interior OL (Not Physical enough at Center/Guard to best suit Murray’s & Matthews downhill running style)
2) Lack of a Legitimate Deep Threat (Who is able to keep Defenses honest)
3) Lack of Secondary Depth (1 Injury away from a disaster)

All these above issues are not likely to be resolved with more Reps,Practice or Scheme Changes though they can be improved from the crap we’ve seen so far..but the Eagles need more Talent in these 3 Position Groups moving forward..
