Sam Bradford’s Working In The Weight Room

Picture taken by Jenn Pirri

Birds quarterback Sam Bradford can do a lot to set the tone of the Eagles this off season by putting some serious time in the weight room.  I’m not talking about getting muscle-bound and stiff.  I’m talking about putting on some muscle on both his upper and lower body, so his teammates can look at him and believe that he’s going to make it through the season without getting injured.

I know he has spent a good deal of his time since he’s been in the NFL, rehabbing knee injuries.  He can focus on really getting bigger this year and that’s great for him and the football team.

Head coach Doug Pederson says Bradford has already put on 5 pounds of muscle.  That’s good and he’s going in the right direction.   When he comes in and the guys can see the amount of work he has put in, they’ll know that they had better get to work and come into camp ready to go.

Quarterbacks don’t have to lift to throw the football so much as they have to lift in order to withstand the pounding they take.  Many times these guys get hit by speeding 250 to 330 pound monsters.  If a quarterback is not well put together physically, there’s no way he’s going to be able to get up each time he’s pounded into the turf.

I’ve got a great idea.  The Eagles need to lock Bradford in the weight room for the off season.

I follow Jordan Matthews on snapchat. For those of you who don’t kno it’s a App where u can see pictures and videos of that individual.

Zach ertz and Jordan Matthews both spent a week with Sam throwing and workIng out. The workouts sam and company were going thru were straight up intense. Drenched in sweat they would throw, and then go lift. Sam looked like a totally different person in the legs.
Much bigger and actually looks proportional

“I’ve got a great idea. The Eagles need to lock Bradford in the weight room for the off season.”

I GOT A BETTER IDEA LOCK HIM IN THERE FOR THE REGULAR SEASON TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but on the real i hope this is true, sam always looked like dark helmet from spaceballs and the wimpiest most nonathletic guy on the field last year. guy should gain some weight, ditch the improperly fitting helmet and dumb sleeves and act the part

Unsure how I feel about this really. It was always a 5-7 year process and it still will be. Sixers got real unlucky not getting Wiggins Parker towns or Russell imo.

But I feel like this offseason is the time we turn the corner. We are adding likely the 1 or 2 pick, possibly the 4 or 5 pick, embiid, saric and most likely a solid free agent or 2 – derozen , brad beal, Barnes. I’d sign Noah and dump nerlins…

Oh well I like where this team is heading I think

CHECK THE FREAKIN ARCHIVES ON THIS SITE!!!

I CALLED THIS MONTHS AND MONTHS AGO AND PAUL SAID BRYAN COLANGELO WOULD GET HIRED BY THE NETS!!!

OMG JH is now having visions of Kevin Durant (good relationship with Jerry Colangelo thru USA Team and seen in my profile pic) AND DeMarr DeRozen (very close with Bryan Colangelo from his days with the raptors where he won executive of the year) coming to Philly this summer… Let’s hope!

This is definitely a sign of things improving and moving in the right direction and finally NO MORE TANKING!

Hinkie saw the writing on the wall… he created alot of positive things for us now and for the future but he won’t be able to see the fruits of his labor. The team is about to take off starting next season

Keep this in mind too, Hinkie has burned bridges all over the league with agents and GMs. So In order for Jerry to move this thing forward he had to get Hinkie out.

I strongly believe the Sixers will flip this roster in one season and they will be more than competitive next season.

Both Bryan and Jerry have more than enough connections league wide to make something special happen in a hurry this off season!!!

I couldn’t agree more.. we need this! We are beyond due!

This has been one of the better weeks in Philly in a very long time

A.I. inducted into the HOF and Nova wins the National Championship, this news is just what we needed to hear

There is no longer a tug of war between Hinkie and Brett Brown or Hinkie and agents and GMs. He’s burned alot of bridges..

Now Jerry has brought his son on board to revamp, reconstruct and reshape this whole thing. I expect great things ahead

You don’t hire Jerry Colangelo if you don’t want your franchise turned into a winner, and what you’ve seen in Toronto with the Raptors is from what Bryan Colangelo built. Those are all his guys that he drafted. So bringing them two together will be nothing but positive

We’re in good hands…

Good Riddance to Sam Hinkie…
I called this like many people did when Jerry Colangelo was Hired..
Colangelo was Hired and Paid to turn this sorry ass Franchise around and Colangelo is not a proponent of tanking and taking 6-8 Years to build a competitive Team.. Colangelo is getting up there in age and has a much shorter sense of urgency than Hinkie did and probably has a 2 Year Timetable and will make some moves likely including the Firing of Coach Brown
This move is no surprise to anyone in the NBA and was expected

Bro you don’t have to worry about any of that. The best is yet to come. Believe me.

The Sixers just drove out a guy that created a mess. For all the good he has done with creating cap space, draft picks etc, he’s done more damage.

Like I said months ago, they now have Jerry who is well respected league wide and internationally. They don’t need Hinkie anymore, he did his job. Now we have Jerry who will work to flip this thing

Dario will be fine, Embiid will be fine. In the draft they’re going to target best player available but they will work to bring in scorers and shooters

I understand man, us true fans have all been through way too much with this team for over a decade

We’re finally about to see what all this tanking, acquiring assets, creating cap space was all about

With the kind of connections that both Jerry and his son Bryan have and with Hinkie out of the way, this team has the potential to look pretty impressive and completely different going into next season

Think about it, we add Embiid, we add Saric, we then have the draft with all those picks and of course free agency where we have the money to sign two max players, this team has a chance to really turn this whole thing around in one year..

Hinkie did a damn good job. He did his part, and now is leaving it in the hands of the experts in talent evaluation and the coaches.

You can hate on Hinkie all you want, but he left this franchise in better condition then when he found it by a mile.

Assets, picks, cap space, and cap space with a new training facility coming in.

That new logo and uniforms are just the icing on the cake.

***Hinkie News***

Sam Hinkie’s resignation came after he was told he would only oversee the Analytics area of the franchise, no longer the whole thing, that was going to be the responsibility of Bryan Colangelo. So Hinkie new that the announcement and possible press conference of the hiring would be Thursday(today) so he wanted to get out before that came about, but Jerry didn’t fire Sam but he kinda drove him out by telling him Bryan would be GM no matter what giving Hinkie limited choices, either fall in line or get driven out…

Jon Hart
Jon Hart
April 7, 2016 7:43 am

I did like Hinkie’s creativity and unpredictability on draft night and trade deadline…

I liked his approach to getting this team where it is today and how his mind works, but he’s an introvert, a flat out introvert that likes to lurk in the background when as a GM and VP of basketball operations has to be accessible, available to the public, media alike.. Now Bryan Colangelo does. Bryan is a guy that doesn’t mind being in the front so to speak, being seen and heard frequently

Yes I do.

Since you’re not a true fan you can’t recall where we were before, dwelling in mediocrity and having bad contracts with no quality picks

Sam has put us in a position we’ve never ever been in. All these draft picks with future year implications, getting a rim defender like a Noel, a player like Okafor with superior offensive scoring ability, drafting Saric who has alot of talent and will finally be here this upcoming season, drafting Embiid who’s finally showing improvement and is make great strides in his rehabilitation and we can see the type of franchise changing talent he has

So yes I like the direction of where the team is going and Hinkie is a huge reason for it..

You aren’t qualified, nor do you know me well enough to judge my fandom…. for the record we aren’t even mediocre… we are horrible with no end in sight. We have put the franchise in the hands of ping pong balls and 19 year olds. We brought in injured 19 year olds, paid them well and then left them to flounder both athletically and emotionally… all because you have no clue how to build a TEAM!!! A team is not an assembly of ASSETS!!! “The sum is greater than the total of its parts”…. sports 101!!!!!

I believe in supporting a team that is trying to win– making moves that at least try to contribute to winning more than losing. It obviously doesn’t always work but i think you try to win…now the sixers/nba is different a tank, a rebuild does become necessary but to get rid of ASSETS over and over again that can take you from 10 winds to 17 then to 25 and upward is silly…. year after year…

HAC explain what options the Sixers had then?

Explain to us what the Sixers could have done to win and win big the way the team was constructed with Iguodala ET and Brand.

Explain how they could have gotten around the Cap Hell they were in with bad contract after bad contract

I wanna hear your thoughts bc you keep saying “a team is supposed to win not lose” I wanna hear your big plan big fan. Since you wanna complain about how they went about it

Let me ask you this, is the Cav fans complaining? How about the Warriors fans? How about the Twolves fans?

All 3 teams tanked and tanked and tanked in order to become great. Twolves are well on their way to being a great team down the road and we already know where the Cavs and Warriors are.

So explain wth your big plan would’ve been HAC

JH I have said numerous times that because the NBA is SO flawed that a certain level of tanking is inevitable. I do understand the plan and I can’t go back, put the pieces back in place and say “if this, then that”– My point is two fold: 1. The nba draft is really a fairy tale–each year a bunch of CONSENSUS top 5 picks turn out to be just guys–A LOT!!!!– 2. building a TEAM is more than acquiring assets– it is about leadership, it is about LEARNING TO WIN, it is about building relationships— in fact to use an overused word winning is a culture– the sixers were built in a vacuum, void of the human element–
I think in each of his drafts he did in fact draft ‘the best player’ but as i said most top 5 picks end up being just guys– IF, and thats a huge IF…embid somehow gets /stays healthy and is Olojuwan…. and they do some sort of version of the twin towers, get a scorer/guard in this draft and saric can play a role– maybe its a success– thats a lot of ‘ifs’ and a maybe….

paulman

This was all very predictable and expected the day the 76ers Ownership Hired Jerry Colangelo who isarelationship person and leader and does not get paralysis from analysis like Sam Hinkie Operates…
Hinkie did get the Cap-Space fixed but really, how hard is that that do I’d you simply release or trade every medium to large Contract over a 3 Year Period
Hinkie never got the Guard Position right thrust he Draft or Trades
The 76ers Won less than 50 Games out of 240 Games over the last 3 Years
Which is ridiculously bad anyway you slice it.. Hinkie and his Process were a Failure more so than Chip Kelly’s Process… It all starts with having competent, experienced people run the Front Office, Draft, Contracts and the overall Roster Management and Identity & Direction of the Franchise and here with Sam Hinkie and Chip Kelly, both were way in over their heads

I will admit that it seems as if the Sixers could be in a better position, but I will wait until next year to decide.

-Noel- can’t stay healthy ever
-Okafor- love his offensive game, but he has shown to be a bit of a knucklehead and he needs to get in better shape for next season
-Noel and Okafor- don’t seem to play well when on the floor at the same time
-Saric – still completely unknown to me. Looked up his stats and he is a career 34-35% 3pt%. This team can’t have a 3 that can’t shoot
-Embiid- would like to see him at least play a game (not too mention a whole season) before I annoint him

Draft:
-Add in Simmons or Ingram and where do those guys play?
-Chances are they are not going to get the Lakers pick, but they will have l-ate 1st round picks
-They need guards
FA- They need guards bad and anyone who can shoot.

So the roster is very flawed as it is, so I will wait to see what is done with it over the next year or so to really judge what Hinkie did.

You hit the nail on the head CT and that’s exactly what I’m talking about!

Where the hell were we before this? We were dwelling in MEDIOCRITY with Evan Turner, Jrue, Iguodala etc. Yes we made the playoffs and beat the bulls that year and I was so excited about it but that was the limit to what that team could do, and oh we were in CAP HELL!!! BAD CONTRACTS GALORE. From Iguodalas Max deal to Elton Brands Max deal. It was a complete mess!!

Any true fan knows where we were. If they don’t think that we’re in a better position moving forward with all these picks and cap space along with this state of the art training facility that will supposedly be complete in September and Saric, Embiid, Okafor, Noel etc, then they’re not as smart as they think they are.. They just want to complain about any and every decision

Hey Bugs. Pretty spot on assessment there. However, I just want to point out that the odds are 44.2% that the Lakers get the 4 or 5 pick, basically a coin flip.

I actually hope that the Lakers get the 1,2, or 3 pick this year because they are going to be absolutely awful next year, likely worse than they were this year which means are chances of getting a top pick from them next year is high (pending they dont go nuts in FA and land a real team).

with embiid, saric, this years lotto pick and a FA or 2 being added this offseason I’d rather that lakers pick be deferreed next year where there are a few gems in the draft unlike this years question marks.

while this tanking process has played we have been extremely unlikely to have missed out on wiggins, parker, towns and maybe russell. And ultimately Minny got real lucky. that team is gonna be nuts and if they get buddy on that squad they may just become the best team in the league in a short time. we were just extremely unlucky.

If you recall Big Mhenski, I stated a little while back that Jaylen may NOT go Pro, and only those with insight would know that.

Neither he, nor Ivan Rabb have declared, and they shouldn’t because they aren’t ready, and Jaylen’s Mother, has a Masters Degree, Financial stability, and is very much about the education, so he isn’t hurting so much financially that he has to turn pro.

But it is his decision, but if you’re asking me – I say he stays in school, and with a satisfying season, or 2, he will probably be the #1 pick in the draft the year he does decide to come out.
