Report: Eagles Inquired About Moving Up For 1st Pick

CarsonWentz21Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net reports that the Eagles were one of the teams to make inquiries about going up to get that number one pick in the draft.

“The Cowboys are one of four teams that have inquired on moving up to the top spot of the draft. The other three teams are the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets, who are the dark horse. The overall belief around the league is the Jets don’t have the ammunition to move up. The question is would they be willing to move up a half dozen spots is Paxton Lynch falls to the middle of round one?”

I think the Eagles are just doing their homework when it comes to inquiring about what it’s going to take to move up to get the number one pick.  They’ve worked out all of the top quarterbacks and they’re going to host them at the Nova Care Complex, so they’ll go into the draft with all the knowledge they need to make the right decisions on the day of the draft.

I think it’s a safe bet that one team will move up in the draft… The Titans will trade the first pick, for sure.

If the Eagles want it more than the others they can likely pull it off. If the reports are true about Pederson loving Wentz, I think it could very well be the Eagles that win the bidding war.

If the Eagles don’t move up I doubt that Lunch will be there at pick #8…. In which case, I hope they don’t draft a quarterback at all. We don’t need another career backup.

Last year, Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota were the top two picks in the NFL Draft. NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell declared that Carson Wentz is better than both of them.

“If I had to compare this year’s group, I think Wentz is more talented than either Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota just in terms of traits. I think Carson Wentz is a high-level traits prospect,” Cosell said.

Assuming NFL personnel people view Wentz the same way Cosell does, the Titans will be asking a king’s ransom….

I can’t see the Titans trading their pick. They just aren’t good enough on the o line to pass on tunsil and there’s a huge drop off at tackle after him. That Titans o line has been struggling for too long to pass on him. Imo the chargers are our trade partner if we move up but I can’t see Cleveland passing on wentz in favor of golf. And I don’t think moving up for golf makes sense. For the most part losing ncaa qbs don’t win in the NFL and golf wasn’t a winner

I think golf will drop to 8 if we want him. If we want wentz I think we have to blow away the Titans or pray the Browns brown it and take golf and we move up to 3

I think there’s one way Cleveland passes on Wenzhou and it’s about risk aversion.

They’ve been burned twice in a row by “risky” picks with “upside”. first they took the 28 year old ‘risk’ and they followed that with the greatest risk in Johnny dumbass. and now they’ve gone out and signed another risk in RGme.

They’ve spent all their “risk” capital…at least with the fan base. They go out and add another perceived boom/bust div II guy in Wentz and it’ll be a fun time on talk radio.

Goff is the ‘safer’ pick and I think they might go that way and pair him with the ‘risky’ rgIII.

Hope so anyway.

They’re Cleveland …after all…four strikes and you’re out applies..Johnny football …is on there tombstone …I’m still hoping that last years ,rumors of there desire to sign Sam ,was reality…that and a swap with the Eagles for there one and others like picks and or huff …would be a dream come true ..and it would better define why chase got the deal he got …it makes too much sense ..it is Cleveland ,after all

The BRowns has already signed a Retread in the name of RG3
there other QB will be a Young one from the Draft… It makes little to no sense
to add a Sam Bradford to an RG3 to a last Place Team with a New HC who is known as a QB Coash.. They got their Veteran per say with RG and will not Groom a Young QB from the Draft… LEt it go DE, the Eagles and Us are stuck with Sam Bradford for 2015 .. The Texans where about the only Choice and they went with the Younger, more mobile QB with the Big Arm in Brock Osweiler over Sam Bradford.. No Other Teams were or are good Fits for Sam Bradford… Denver could have been one Scheme & Coaching wise but they simply couldn’t afford Bradford’s bad, overpaid Contract.. The other Teams (Jets,Browns,Rams,49ers) are not interested

The Cleveland Browns are expected to trade down in the NFL Draft at some point, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Terry Pluto. The Browns could even trade down from their second overall pick.

Hmm, trading with the Browns might be possible…

The Top 3 Teams in the Draft (Titans, Browns & Chargers) all want to Trade Back and accumulate more Picks as there simply is not enough Playmakers in this Draft to really push that Demand up to a fever pitch as in most Drafts…. There simply are not many Natural Playmakers in this Draft… There are probably 2 of them (DB J Ramsey & RB Z Elliot) and then that’s about it … There are some Nice OL, DL, QB’s but they will all need a Year or Two or Three before making any real impact

Since the Browns Signed RG3 in Free-agency, they may not look for a QB until Round 2 and try to Trade their #2 Pick in the First Round for more Assets.. Could a DT Fletcher Cox, RB Ryan Matthews or WR Josh Huff Plus #8 & #77 get the Eagles and Coach Pederson his Future Franchise in QB Carson Wentz… …

The Browns may be one of the Few Teams that has a need for WR/Returnman/Scat Back like Huff… The Browns inexplicably let their only Playmaker in Travis Benjamin go in Free-Agency
(You could substitute Kenjon Barner, Josh Huff, Taylor Hart in any of my Deals as a Sweetener, just to throw them in with any deal to get rid of them) Go Ducks…

Source BGN

t’s been a long time since we’ve heard an update on Fletcher Cox’s contract situation with the Eagles. A few months ago it was reported that both sides were “close” on an extension. It was said the deal could be worth over $100 million with at least $60 million guaranteed. But then ESPN insider Adam Schefter denied an extension was close. Cox himself posted some cryptic tweets that made it seem like a deal wasn’t immediate. Apparently things weren’t so close after all considering a deal still hasn’t got done.

In an appearance on NFL Network on Monday morning, Howard Eskin said Cox’s agent is responsible for the holdup in negotiations.

It’s ridiculous because Fletcher Cox … a lot of these guys, they listen too much to their agent. His agent is Todd France. The Eagles, I have been told, have offered him over $60 million guaranteed. Now that the contract would be worth over $100 million.

But Todd France has told Fletcher Cox not to accept that, and that’s ridiculous because the Eagles could have his rights for three years. The year of the contract left this year, they can franchise him two more years, $60 million guaranteed. Fletcher Cox is not a guy that spends a lot of money, but Todd France represents other defensive lineman. So, and people believe this in football, that he’s trying to get an unbelievable deal for Fletcher Cox so his other players’ scale of salary would increase and use this to try and get those guys more money.

It’s ridiculous that Fletcher Cox has not signed a contract which guarantees him over $60 million. And a couple years ago, he had some back issues and, I mean, any player can go down, so that’s the problem. The Eagles have offered him a lot of money and his agent, Todd France, said “Nope.” And I think he’s using Fletcher Cox for his other players down the line.

It’s certainly not unusual that France is trying to get the most money for his client. That’s his job. And it’s not only for the benefit of Cox, as Eskin points out, but also the benefit of the entire defensive lineman market.

It still feels like it’s only a matter of time before both sides work something out. Cox has said he wants to be in Philly and it’s clear the Eagles want him to stay. The truth is there’s no real rush to get a deal done. Cox is under contract for this season and both sides are aware he could be a franchise tag candidate next offseason. A long-term contract is likely in the best interest of both sides, but neither side needs to rush into anything right now, which is exactly why a deal hasn’t been completed.

My goodness he would make more than Tom Brady as a DT. It probably adds up to 2 million a sack. If and when he gets that I don’t want to hear shit about a Doug Martin running for 1000 yards up the middle. Someone next off season show me a list of FA I could buy for 60 million guaranteed on 100 million contract. No fucking way he is the best option to pay that type of money. Then he turned it down.lol

And BTW Ciggy, who are the others that you claim I ALWAYS overvalue? You don’t know anything about talent to be speaking to me like you know better…In fact you don’t even have a leg to stand on in comparance to me.

Cox allegedly turning down a contract like that puts the Eagles in a bind. Roseman isn;t going to pay more than that (obv as no deal has been done) and other teams are now going to be very wary of trading for him knowing his demands.

Obv any deal will be contingent on a team first being able to work out a deal, but clearly that hasn’t been able to happen either.

I understand that the Eagles can just “franchise” him 2 more times after this year, but that causes cap problems.

Cleveland is a horrible team, but Gordon was not the reason they lost by any means averaging well over 100 yards per game – They would not have been able to win without him.!!

Cliff you throw the word talent around like it’s the only piece to the puzzle…. You know better than that. You know I know talent isn’t the only factor in winning. But I never said that. YOU said that. You’re always assuming, and putting words in the mouths of posters at times – because your objective is to just be annoyingly critical.

I think Ezekiel Elliott is a talent, but I see Trent Richardson 2016. I look at his games at Ohio State, and I see that his Offensive Line Talent in front of him, was better than his individual talent. I see him being not as good as a pro, as he was as a College Player.

He needs other talent around him to be successful like you are trying to describe. Josh Gordon needs a mentor, and needs to get out of Cleveland. His talent can only help you win. His off the field issues, are his problem, and can only affect the team if he isn’t on the field – He isn’t a detriment ON THE FIELD…

I know you had to have smoked weed in your life Ciggy – are you a butthole??? I stand by my opinion, and I want him on this team.

I said Manziel has the SHIT factor..I was correct. Anyone with an eye for NFL ability knew Manziel could not play in the NFL, surprisingly Chip passed…but that is why Ray Farmer was fired..for drafting Manziel.
