Carson Wentz Is Ready To Run This Offense Now, But…..

CarsonWentz10Everything went as scheduled last night with the Los Angeles Rams selecting California’s Jared Goff with the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.  The Eagles stepped to the plate next and grabbed the guy, Carson Wentz, who they believe is going to be a “Franchise Quarterback” and lead them to consistent years of “Excellence”, meaning year after year of deep trips into the playoffs and Super Bowls.

Howie Roseman, Doug Pederson and company have committed themselves to make sure they give him time to learn his job. Wentz is a fifth-year senior, who enters the NFL with a great deal of maturity.  He has been playing in a Pro Style offense for fives years.

In fact, he has been playing in a version of the West Coast offense for five years.  He already knows the concepts of the plays head coach Pederson and offensive coordinator Frank Reich will be sending in from the sidelines.  He knows how to read the entire field and has been doing it for years at North Dakota State.

In reality, Wentz has been training to run this offense in the NFL for five years.  I think he’s going to make it impossible for the Eagles to sit him down for the entire season because he is so mentally advanced.  Think about it, this kid is more than ready to play in the NFL mentally.  I have heard a number of player personnel people say that he is the best prepared quarterback to ever come out in the draft.

Despite this preparation, the talented quarterback has been a starter at North Dakota State for only two years.  He has been playing against inferior talent.  Wentz has been facing defenses that don’t have one player talented enough to play in the NFL.

Now, he’s going to be facing players who are much bigger and much faster, but he has a NFL body standing 6’5″ and weighing 237 pounds.  He’s got the NFL body that Sam Bradford wishes he had.  Wentz is not only big, but he’s very athletic as well.  He’s not Cam Newton but he will be able use his legs to make plays in the NFL.

The big question about this guy is the level of talent he’s been playing against.  Will he be able to make the transition to top level of competition?

Obviously, Roseman and Pederson have said Yes to that question. I haven’t seen Wentz in action, but I like their chances with what I know right now about Wentz.  Everybody I know who has met him, say he is “Live Wire” in that he is a fighter, who bring an energy to the Eagles because of his enthusiasm and work ethic.

100% love the pick of Wentz. He has the size, athleticism, ability and skill as well as the intelligence. I’m not concerned about the level of competition, if you can play, you can play. Wentz is mature student of the game who is interested in honing his craft and has a great work ethic. Wentz just has to adjust to the speed of the game, and if Wentz’s ability to step right in and adjust to the talent and speed of the players he faced in the Senior Bowl is an indicator of his ability to adjust and transition to facing higher level competition, he will be fine. Wentz can make all the throws. What I like most about Wentz is that he made all the calls at the LOS, checking the defenses, audibles …barring injury, I believe Wentz is a legit franchise QB. The Eagles will bring his development along slowly, I have no problem with this plan…the payoff at the end will be worth the patience in the beginning. Welcome to the Eagles Carson…Go Birds…E-A-G-L-E-S- EAGLES!!!!

Bradford lost any loyalty he might have had from the players when his agent said this last week:

“Basically, our contention is that the team could have used the draft picks on offensive and defensive players for this season, to win this season,” said Condon.

That’s the same as Bradford saying “my position didn’t need to be upgraded, the other position needed attention”….

He has no friends after that.

Y that whole line really threw me.

Firstly, he threw all his offensive teammates under the bus. “You’re not good enough – I need waepons!” Not sure how that went down in the dressing room.

Secondly…what if they had stayed at 8 (or 13) and had taken Hargraves, or Apple, or Rankins…or any other D player. Would that have been “adding weapons” for him??

And thirdly….”adding weapons to help right away….” business. I mean that’s laughable.

That’s not the way the draft works. It almost always takes 2 to 3 years before any rookie draft picks make any substantial impact. (Agholor)

The idea that some pick at 8 or 13 is going to come in and immediately push the Eagles over the top and to the Superbowl this year is a laughable position – and beneath Condon to even suggest it.

Would he have pouted and demanded a trade??

So tunsil in his post draft interview admits he asked for money from his coach and received money from him. Throws his coach and college under the bus and Kool and his dick rider Mac dolo wanted him. Wanted the selfish, drug addict, criminal who would’ve guessed.

Oh and this pic was not in highschool , it was recent. He didn’t look like that in high school. It was in the last 2 years. And his agent made a ridiculous statement that he wore the gas mask so he didn’t let his team mates breathe in the smoke.

Since Bradford literally abandoned his teammates while they were at voluntary workouts there was only Chase Daniel to QB the offense…so Wentz can come in and start building chemistry with these guys. A leader does not leave the workouts, his teammates and coaches after being told that the team is moving up to draft a QB with the #2 pick. A QB leader and competitor sucks it up and uses it as motivation to drive himself to be better..and perhaps put the team on his back, making those around him better. Bradford showed his true colors…selfish, cowardice, and arrogance.
Bradford refuses to answr the telephone when Coach Pederson has called him.Bradford’s give me my ball I’m going home attitude exposed him for the fraud that he is…straight bitch move..Scam Bitchford! How embarrassing!!!

Wentz on dealing with Bradford:
“Professionally,” he replied. “We’re both professionals now, and it will be what it is. I won’t make it bigger than it needs to be. I’m just going to go in there and focus on what I can control, and learning as much ball as I can as quickly as I can.”

Well actually Wentz, seems like only one of you is acting professionally.

It’s no surprise that leadership is earned on the field ..Teammates ,will always judge you in the room by your actions..Wentz ,will have traction Day 1 ,as he hits the field with rubber on the ground running..he’ll be mentored and schooled and will emerge at a rate of time that’s appropriate ..The agendas of the “kools” who are ready to kick there “franchise” QB Sam the. Sham …out the door, and put the kid in the front of the line ,hoping more that they’re justified in backing Sam ,then the future of the organization..That exactly mirrors the selfishness of sideways sevens ..so no surprises there ..

Yes you were Right Irish Eagle on the Cowboys Call..
I had them Addressing their Front 4 wcih they will do in Round #2 I guess and probably go with DE Emmanuel Ogbah of Oklahoma State or DE Kevin Dodd or one of those Big DT’s from Alabama
I stated all along this runnup to the Draft that RB Ezekial Elliot was the biggest Offensive PLaymaker in this Draft who would make the biggest Impact to an Offense in his First Year, I just thought the Cowboys would have been focusing on their DL since they can’t even field a NFL Quality DL as of Today and signed Free-Agent RB Alfred Morris to a 2 Years Deal with Darren McFadden still under Contract for 2016 so RB was not a big need for them, so I thought….
Now Watch Elliot run Wild for the next 5-6 Years

Oh, and they don’t have a QB to throw the ball to him either.

Browns may take QB Connor COok or LB Myles Jack since they have lots of Picks and can take a flyer on a Player or Two.. Heck, they may even Trade Back to start this 2nd Round where they currently have 3 of the First 14 Picks

You have to like what Tampa Bay Did at #9 which was Trade Back to #11
and Picked up an extra 5th Round Draft Pick from Bears and still were able to grab their CB Vernon Hargreaves who everyone had them picking at #9

Bears Jumped ahead of Giants to Get OLB Floyd
Titans Jumped ahead of Giants to get OT Conklin
GIants should have Traded Back…

Spence is a Good One, but is the same kind of Player as a Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence at DE who are both Suspended for the first 4 Games of the 2016 Season…
Noah Spence for the Jaguars would be used like Chris Clemmons/Bruce Irving Type and would be great in Jaguars Scheme….
Cowboys Rod Marinelli likes his DE with a little more Length, maybe a Kevin Dodd for them at #34.. But wonder if Jerry Jones could pass on a Myles Jack if hes still sitting there…

Strangest Trade of Round #

The 49ers Traded their 2nd, 4th & 6th Round Picks in 2016 Draft to move back into the FIrst Round at #28 with the Chief’s to Draft Guard Joshua Garnett who very likely would have been on the Board for the 49ers at #37 is they did no Trade.. The Chief’s who lost 2 2016 Draft Picks for Tampering with WR Jeremy Maclin saved their 2016 Draft by getting 3 Picks to go back from #28 to #37 .. I don’t understand this move by the 49ers at all and realyl helped out the Chiefs..

I liked Josh Garnett for the eagles in the 3rd round before they signed the Houston Texan OG Brooks. I thought Garnett like Brooks is more pile mover than finesse mover. That big as a house RG that Andy Reid likes. Not sure Garnett is a field stretcher on those sweeps the Chipper likes to run over and over again.

Never seen Carson Wentz play so I went to youtube. Only watched one game a condensed version of 2014 NCAA championship game vs Illinois St. It has Carson Wertz’s non hand off offensive plays.
I was shocked with what I saw.
Wentz takes a lot of hits, a lot. He was tackled more than 20 times in that championship game including a couple fumbles he coughed up. He plays like Cam Newton. I wasn’t expecting that. He also takes a lot of sacks, never once threw the football away but took like 5 sacks. That video is identical to Cam Newton. He won’t last the preseason in the NFL getting hit that much. He is a running QB. Not surprised at all he broke his wrist last year.

that bootleg throw at 415 was strong. dime right between the numbers. amazing awareness, great athleticism on display at 440

kid throws a beautiful deep ball and lazors on the out throws

throw at 930 was big time. hits the receiver perfectly in stride

for sure needs to work on his internal clock and knowing when to quit on a play but man im excited to see him play with some weapons (do we have any?) and a behind an oline…

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Kid.
I was expecting a Joe Flaco or Ben Roethlisberger scan the field gun slinger.
I was taken back a little.
What I see is Andrew Luck or Cam Newton’s game, a bulldozer with a strong arm.
He isn’t even a half way in between those 2 type of styles ( Roethlisberger/Flaco ——- Luck/Newton ) which would be like Aaron Rodgers. No, he likes to run by choice. I see why the Eagles “Collaboration ” of “strategic thinkers” like him. He reminds them of a young McNabb or current version Newton/ Luck.

Nothing wrong talking about the Eagles Competition too…
What Teams do the Eagles have to Beat in order to be Successful in the Playoffs..The Panthers,Packers,Seahawks,Cardinals & Vikings are all better Teams going into the Draft and the Eagles have lots of work to do to catch up to these Teams besides taking care of business within the NFC East ..
Right Now – The Cowboys are back where they were in 2014 with a Strong Running Game and a Healthy Romo…
Redskins are the Defending NFC Champs and have added some nice Pieces this Off-Season…
The Giants spent the most $$$ in Free-Agency on their Defense

Redskin draft pick Josh Dotson = Is he DJax or Garcon’s replacement ?
Both DJax and Garcon are 29 years old, both free agents next year and both make 9-10 million this year. The Redskins TE Jordan Reed is also a FA next year with a QB on a franchise tag. So that is Cousins, Reed, DJax and Garcon all free agents with Josh Dotson taking someones spot.

paulman
paulman
April 29, 2016 4:01 pm

Draft Pick Doctson will be replacing one of them and it will depend who has the better 2016 Season for who remains… Doctson is more of a possession type of Receiver similar to Garcon, so you would have to think that Doctson would be learning and running many of same Routes that Garcon currently does ..Redskins also have the Ryan Grant, J Crowder & the disappointing Andre Roberts.. TE Reed who gets flanked out as a Receiver a lot, so no real Speed/Deep Threat outside of D-Jax.. Garcon has been the more consistent of the 2 as D-Jax missed some games and may be losing some his explosiveness…
They have some important Decisions to make next Off-Season
I expect QB Cousins to sign a new long-term deal by summer
they can Franchise Tag TE Reed next Off-Season to buy some time and let D-Jax/Garcon Walk in Free-Agency or offer 1 of them a cheapo deal to remain, aging WR’s got very little in Free-Agency this past Year

Some other players if available in the 3rd round:
Braxton Miller-WR
Su’a Cravens S/LB
CJ Procise-RB

Jaylon Smith…that nerve issue in his knee is problematic. I read teams have dropped him into the 6-7 round on some boards..the nerve has to heal on it’s own..nothing medically can be done for it so there is no guarantee that it will heal properly, if at all.

Might sound crazy but if jack and Smith are gone I’m trading out of the 3rd and trying to get two 4ths and a 5th and stretching the picks out since we don’t have a lot…and I’m still trying to trade

Carson Wentz will be wearing jersey # 11..formerly assigned to wr Chris Givens, who bought that number off of Josh Huff. I seriously doubt if there was any barter or compensation given to Givens for the #. More like “Hey Chris, you gotta find another number, 11 has been reassigned”.

Translated… Sam is a loser, I spent my time watching winners…
He also said “I know he was a top draft choice not too long ago”… Translation, “um there is no way when I’m 28 are the eagles going to spend a bunch of picks to draft my replacement”….. Sam, hold out., please never show up!

Jaylon Smith, great talent, very risky pick. Dallas Cowboy doctor performed surgery on Smith so he must feel good about Smith’s odds to recover. Risk vs. reward. Good luck to Smith.

If Myles Jack can fully recover, Jaguars have a nice defensive haul in first two rounds!

Dallas’s LB Sean Lee is always hurt, why would they draft another hurt LB?
Jags lost their 1st round draft pick for the entire year why would they draft a known hurt LB? Those 2 teams shouldn’t be drafting hurt players on defense at all.

Surprise with NY Giants Selecting Slot WR Shepard of Oklahoma …
Where’s Victor Cruz going to Play?? Who plays OT ?
Where is the Pass Rush? Who Stops the Run or Stuff the Middle..:

I Don’t understand the Colts trading back to the Packers who took the best OT still on the Board (Jason Spriggs) , you would think the Colts would have selected Spriggs themselves to protect their $100 Million QB
Add Spriggs to 1st Round Pick Center Ryan Kelly to go along with OT A Constanzo and now you have the makings of a very good OL

Clark played in a Spread, Wide Open Pass-Happy Offense at Texas Tech and has very good Pass-porotection skills with long arms & reach but he needs to improve his core strength & run blocking ..

Will Demarco Murray pull a Bradford after the Titans drafted Alabama RB Henry?

paulman
paulman
April 29, 2016 8:36 pm

Good Pick & Draft by the Titans thus far.. They have gotten bigger and more physical .. RB D Henry is not a 3 Down RD as he is not a very Blocker or Receiver out of the Backfield and will be used to spell Murray for his first year or two.. Murray has to prove that he still has it, Drafting Henry to form a nice 1-2 Punch will likely extend Murray’s Career..

bye bye Geno your NFL career just ended. Hackenberg’s best year was with Allen Robinson who had 1400 yards and 14 TDs this season in Jacksonville. Brandon Marshall catches everything like Robinson .

Redskins took a slow, small, not very strong LB from USC S’ua Cravens, why? Some bad 2nd round LBs selected way too early. ( Smith, Jake, Cravens)

Many Teams are using these Hybrid LB/Safety Type of Players who are 6-1/6-2, 220-230lbs but that can Run, Cover Receivers, Athletic TE’s and move all around the Formations..
Almost every Team is adding one of these types of Players to their Defenses
I expect DC Schwartz will use Michael Kendricks in this a Role a little bit

Some strange Reach Picks in the 2nd Round which should push some quality Players down the Board into the 3rd Round..
Some DB’s selected were 1-2 Rounds ahead where I thought they would go
Lots of Good RB’s onthe Board still (Booker.Dixon, Procise, Perkins)
TB Bucs trades back into the late 2nd and Drafts a Kicker ?
The Steelers, Panthers DB’s Selections are very raw
