Eagles Vice-President of Football Operations Howie Roseman has had an outstanding off season, but that’s including him spending a ton of money to resign the Eagles best young players.  They have re-signed their best young players and given them each big money for their position and their accomplishments in their careers.

The Eagles have led the way in the amount of guaranteed money they have guaranteed since the beginning of the season.  They have doubled the amount of guaranteed money, which was given out by the New York Giants, who are second in line in regards to the amount of guaranteed money they agreed to pay out since the beginning of 2016.  I think it was the right move to sign their best players rather than letting them leave.

Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, Lane Johnson, Vinny Curry, Malcolm Jenkins and Fletcher Cox are all keys members of this football team.  It made sense to sign them to extensions.

Three of those players are on their offense and another three of those players are on their defense.

Zach Ertz –5-year, $42.5 million ($21 guaranteed)
Brent Celek — 3-year, $13 million ($6 guaranteed)
Lane Johnson — 5-year, $56.26 million ($35.5 guaranteed)
Vinny Curry — 5-year, $47.25 million ($23 guaranteed)
Malcolm Jenkins — 4-year, $35 million ($21 guaranteed)
Fletcher Cox – 6-year, $103 million ($63 guaranteed)

The Eagles defense is the strength of the football team and you can see that in these signees.  Cox and Jenkins are two of the best players at their positions in the NFL.  Curry will get the chance to prove himself this season.  Ertz is one of the best pass receiving tight ends in the league, Johnson has the potential to be a star, while Celek is solid, but he’s seen his best years as a receiver.

They signed free agent right guard Brandon Brooks to a five-year deal for $40 million with ($21 guaranteed).

You can also add to this list quarterbacks Sam Bradford’s 2-year, $36 million ($22 guaranteed) and Chase Daniel 3-years, $21 million ($13 guaranteed). Of course, he won’t be around when this team starts getting better.

Add Safety McLeod, Brandon Graham, Michael Kendricks & Connor Barwin and you have 7 Highly Paid Defenders who must Improve dramatically under New DC Jim Schwartz into a Top 10 Unit or much of this $280 Million inGuaranteed $$$ will go up I smoke as will GM Roseman’s Future
It’s great to take care of young Core Players Financially, but these Core Players must Produce Results and Win the Games om the Field
I bet the Eagles Defense are one of the highest Paid Defenses in the NFL
(Jets,,Seahawks, Bengals, Cardinals & now the Giants) and its time to start Playing like one of the Best Defenses
No more Excuses from anyone, the Eagles have Spent a lot of $$$ on this Defense, it’s Coaching Staff and now it’s time to work and get better and become a dominant group on that side of the ball and along with good Special Teams can remain in most games while th Offense finds it way

Graham, Barwin, Bradford, and Ryan Matthews, will all come off their books when they are cut, or traded. Jason Peters could also be released, or take a pay cut – saving a ton of money.

And as the years go by, Howie has manipulated the cap so that the guaranteed money allotted to Lame, Ertz, McCleod, Brooks, and Curry is less of a burden year to year, because all their deals become more cap friendly as the years go by, and are also up in different years including Cox.

Add in Darren Sproles who will come off th Books after this Season
and in the meantime, they will have Bennie Logan, Jordan Matthews, Eric Rowe and maybe some other Players to possibly Extend..
WR’s Randle,Givens & Graham are all on 1-Year Deals, so if Reuben Randle on one of the others plays well and stays healthy, he could get an extension

add Chase Daniel’s 13 million guaranteed for 2 years – The dumbest signing in Philadelphia sports history. ( 3rd string QB for the 1st overall pick and 2nd over all pick; & with one career TD pass in 7 NFL seasons)

I’m not a NFL GM. I’d rather watch Phillies, Flyers or Sixers than a Thursday Night NFL game if the Eagles aren’t playing. ( I’ll channel flip to that NFL game but the next morning I’ll read the box score of the local team before the NFL game’s box score. ) Howie’s job is to evaluate every NFL game and every NFL player and every college prospect not mine. If another NFL team signed Chase Daniel I never would have looked at his career but since the Eagles signed Chase I did. What I learned it was a STUPID signing. Giving a guy with one TD pass in 7 years that contract while also using multiple future draft picks i and the 2nd overall pick on Carson Wentz combined with giving 23 million to Sam Bradford make giving anything to another QB beside a training camp tryout contract, dumb. But since you like Chase Daniel so much purchase his Jerseys both Midnight Green, White and the 3rd Jersey option too at the Lincoln Financial Field gift shop ( Daniel wears #10 )

I have all the faith in the world in Howie when it comes to that, and I’m sure he’ll figure it out – and bring us Ansah, Mack, Richardson, and Warford….lol…

LeBron was legendary last night. The switches that they were getting to get Curry on LeBron and onto Irving were genius. They literally got whatever they wanted offensively last night.

My question for Curry is when you know they are calling ticky tack fouls why try to reach in in the back court? That was a bad foul call, but why risk it? I know that the game was probably out of reach, but why seal the deal there? it is like a hitter not adjusting to a wide strike zone in his 4th AB and getting pissed that they ump is still calling outside strikes.

And Draymond continues to be an idiot.

the results from Bryan Colangelo month long trade discussions for Nerlans and/or Okafor haven’t resulted in a top 5 draft pick offer says ESPN’s Chad Ford. Phoenix at #4 and Minnesota at #5 not interested in either Okafor or Nerlans. Espn’s Andy Katz said Boston is willing to give Marcus Smart, the 16th overall 2016 draft pick and a bunch of 2nd rounders for Okafor but not the 3rd overall in 2016.

Sixers dont have 60 million to spend. The unfourtunate truth is for every top pick they have in all these years every year for the next 4,5,6 years in a row there rookie contracts will expire. Next year Noel, then embid, then Okafor, Then Simmons then next years top pick, then the following year. Cant pay all of them

Thats why this process is a little flawed. Everyone of these top picks we have are going to ask for 15-20 million a year, some max contracts and if the Sixers dont give it to them someone else will. Thats why the notion of getting top 5 picks every year wont work. We will develop them then not be able to sign all of them. Embid is up in 2 years he will want max deal if he develops, then Okafor if he is here will ask for max deal, then Simmons, whats Saric going to ask, what about Noel? What about next years top pick? Cant pay all them guys.

I think many on here are “Over-Valueing” the 76ers Top Picks of Recent Drafts
They are very unlikely to get any Top Draft Picks in Return for either Okafor or Noel.. Their Best Bet is to Draft Simmons at #1, then address PG/SG at #24/#26…
(Maybe they can package Nerlens Noel & one of these Picks to move up 10 Spots or so… )
Until Embiid Proves that he can actually Play in the NBA , then the 76ers will have to hold onto Okafor as their Inside Score
Either way it shakes out the 76ers are at least 4-5 Seasons from Competing for the upper level of the Eastern Conference

Actually they can sign all of their OWN players. To my knowledge the NBA’s salary cap isn’t a hard one like the NFL. You’re allowed to resign your own FA and go over the cap.

The Larry Bird rule allows them to resign all their players even if it takes them over the cap.

The issue that may arise is when some of them start thinking they’re worth more than they really are, and start looking for bigger roles with other teams. That’s why they need to get rid of Noel; No sense in renegotiating with him, he’s no where near worth a max contract talent wise.

They can have Okafor, Embiid, and Simmons signed for as long as they want to be 76ers.

Teams are supposed to TRY TO WIN– I’ve been consistent in that point from day 1–They are supposed to have players on their roster that they believe can help them win more games–it doesn’t always work out that way but you have to TRY TO WIN- trying to lose isn’t a process– any nitwit can try to lose.

and what do you think the lakers and boston have been doing over the years? The Spurs are this so called model org. Epic tank to acquire Duncan. Every team that can’t see their way above the 8th seed has been “coached decision” and stubbed big toeing their rosters forever to position for the lottery. Those of us who actually follow the sport know this; as have the media and the orgs themselves. Hinke and the sixers just snatched the beach towel off and exposed the tiny weenies of the commish, ownership, and media. At least when the sixers lost it was with players you or I could beat. Not with Wilt or Russell nursing the same hang nail or mysterious DNPs.
Hinke has become the nba Canseco. Canseco exposed players, owners, and media for being complicit in knowledge of steroid use and instead of owning up, they made him villain #1 until guys like you found Barry Bonds to take his place. Anyone that pretends there wasn’t perennial tanking before Hinke is either dumb as a box of rocks or full of you know what.

coldbrewski
coldbrewski
June 20, 2016 8:52 pm

And Ford knows about as much as most of you do in this thread in regards to Nerlens and Okafors trade value. Basically nothing. The process started by the previous GM worked so well that the league (NBA) got exposed for their complicity in turning a blind eye to overt tanking (especially) by elite franchises. The league had to interfere (Colangelos) so other clubs wouldn’t tank in full view of all to see. But I guess teams like Boston and the Lakers stocked full of #1s and just leaving HOF players are doing things just right? What’s their “process” other than the same bs we’ve seen for decades.

Noel is a dime a dozen, you can get rim protector, run the floor, offensively challenged Player ho will Play 15-18 Minutes a Game in the 2nd Round..
The Jury is still out on how much upside Okafor has at the NBA Level and it will be up to how hardheaded works to improve, get stronger and his willingness to play physical inside as Playing in the NBA demands…
Overall, Okafor had a nice Rookie Season but has a ton to work on and#1 is his Toughness… Putting him andBen Simmons out there together may be a very Talented Duo, but it’s also a very “Soft” Tandem that will get beaten up and down by the Physical Players/Teams of the NBA.. They will Score 40 Points a Game together but will give up 50 Points to whomever they are matched up against

I talked to him sometime after his workout with the Sixers, and he told me that he was informed that HE was the player they were trying to get another high pick to draft – NOT Kris Dunn.

The problem is that Boston, and Danny Ainge really like him as well, and the Sixers know it. He is also coveted by Pheonix, Denver, and New Orleans.

I’d rather the Sixers trade Noel, the Lakers pick next year, 24th & 26th pick, and a future #1 pick to Milwaukee for Giannis, and the #7 pick, and draft DeJuonte Murray, the 6-6 PG/SG from Washington. He is a more pure PG that Kris Dunn, and a better shooter. The only negative in comparison to Dunn is he is not as experienced coming out after his freshman year.

Any move trading Okafor, for anything other than Jimmy Butler, DaMarcus Cousins, or LeBron, I think Brian Colangelo should be fired. ….Noel is the ONLY player that should be discussed in any trade…

@Eagle – We agreed I would come in after the draft on the 29th Eagle. I have a convention at the Liacouris Center Thursday – Sunday, to attend…

Ben Simmons has been informed by the 76ers that he will be the No.1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Chris Haynes reports that that 76ers have told Simmons camp that they will use the top pick on the 19-year-old. Rumors of a promise had been swirling after Simmons unexpectedly worked out for the Sixers and it looks like those rumors have come to fruition. The 76ers are reportedly looking to move frontcourt bodies to open up minutes for Simmons, so he should be an interesting mid-round option in fantasy drafts with his expected usage.

Joel Embiid (foot) has been cleared to start light scrimmaging in five-on-five settings, according to league sources.
While this still doesn’t mean he’ll be ready, this is a step in the right direction for the big man. The Sixers have already ruled the 22-year-old out of summer league, but we’ll keep a close eye on his next steps. Embiid’s progress over the summer will go a long way towards determining his fantasy value, but he’ll likely end up being an intriguing high-risk, high-reward option in the later rounds on draft day.

The Celtics are reportedly want Nerlens Noel in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft.
The 76ers are reportedly “pushing hard” to trade with the Celtics for the No. 3 overall pick so that they can draft Kris Dunn, and with Philly already expected to bring in Ben Simmons with the No. 1 overall selection, they may be more willing to part ways with Noel. Noel would be a great fit with the Celtics, and Dunn would finally provide the 76ers with a solid point guard, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see something like this go down on draft night. However, any deal getting rid of Noel, and keeping Okafor – I am down for.
Exciting week for Philadelphia Sixers fans. My hope is that Brian Colangelo doesn’t screw this up, and trade Okafor for garbage, and a shaky draft prospect.

I’d like to see them grab Simmons, DeJounte Murray, and or Malik Beasley in this draft. They are on record saying they don’t want to have 3 guaranteed contracts, so they won’t keep all three.

I can’t see boston even wanting a late 1st rounder. Don’t they already have 3 or 4 picks in round 1 this year?

Offer Boston Noel and a top 5 protected first and a player for 3 pick and olynck

Then turn around and offer oak for the 4,5 or 6 pick

Get buddy and Dunn or Murray or jaylen.

Then we got a good future and strong team at multiple spots and we still got a high 1st next year while they develop and the lakers 1st in the pipeline

Although I don’t wanna be to good next year cuz I want a good shot at josh Jackson who if we get to go with Ben and our other talent will push us too having some much talent we looking at a dynasty come 2020 or sooner

There are several teams rumored to be trying to acquire him that Chicago is dangling him to. They are not against moving him for the right deal, and the Sixers have assets they would be interested in – especially future draft picks as they are ready to rebuild.

But he is NOT untouchable.

Who wouldn’t for Simmons, and Okafor…???

But, I’m not giving the centerpiece of my team to the Bulls either; Again, I am against any trading of Okafor…I think it’s dumb…

Where did you get the Bulls rejected the #3 pick for Butler???…I heard it as a rumor that included 2 more draft picks, Smart, Bradley, and future draft picks, and wouldn’t accept it if they couldn’t help them with cap relief – taking Gibson, and Dunleavy off their books – But no #3 straight up for Butler – that wouldn’t be enough any way.

My point was He isn’t untouchable as you stated – because he isn’t.

A 3 Way Trade
Pacers Send Guard George Hill to Utah, who in turn sent their 12th Pick of the 2016 Draft to Atlanta who sent Guard George Teague to the Pacers…
I always liked Hill as a SG off the Bench and is a quality Shooter and Scorer who is from Indianapolis and played locally for IUPUI ..

A Good Deal for everyone… Pacers need some inside Scoring

But I will say his empty gym jumper looks better than I thought and his body is already nba ready….. After empty gym tape I proclaim him a star…..that’s not a joke his body is a man, a big man with fluid Motion and handling skills… Ok HAC confirms the draft choice

10-9-8-76ERS…
Tonigh Ben Simmons officially becomes a Sixer, what I called and hoped for since the end of the 2015 NBA season. My hopes and wish will become reality. After that, I hope the Sixers can move up via a trade and grab a G, Dunn, Murray or Hield, unless the Lakers pass on Ingram, then I do what I have to move up and take Ingram.

A dime a dozen? You know absolutely nothing about basketball. Outside of Cousins, name me 5 young bigs that are better. I’m not even going to get into his numbers the last 2 years. I’ll help you, 2 of the young bigs are on his team. One hasn’t even played a game yet. That’s how devoid of paint talent this league has become.

Not really all the young kids are drafted now. Collangelo fucked up huge and missed a golden opportunity. You see what Orlando gave up for ibaka ? I would’ve took just oladipo for Noel or oak. Now we gonna trade for same turds like Rubio or some shit.

Major fuck up not moving a big. Of course there’s still time but we aren’t getting no rookie guards now and the players that are on the blocks now are basically all turds.

Just a ton of Foreighn Players Selected this Draft
76ers got some young Prospects with upside with their #24 & #26 Picks
Both are Young and should compete in Year #1
Luwawu-Cabarott is 21 and a Wing Player and probably a future replacement/upgrade for Robert Covington
Furman Korkmaz is still only 18 and a Shooter who can help handle the
Ball and looks to be a future Player at the #2 Spot.

Both Players need to get Stronger for the vigors and physicality of the NBA

All in All, 16 out of 60 Players Selected in this Draft were Foreign Players with 8 Selected in the 1st Round which is about 25%…

Sixers traded Thad Young 2 years ago for a conditional Miami Heat 1st round draft pick that finally transferred this year. Pick Number 24.
Brooklyn traded Thad Young yesterday for the the 20th overall pick. Brooklyn got better value for Thad than Hinkie.
Bwahahahahahaha.

Boston, Phoenix, Minnesota, New Orleans, and Denver all turned down Okafor or Noel for their first round pick – one of those GMs is going to get fired when Brown, Bender, Dunn, Hield or Murray turn into the 2016 version of Anthony Bennett, Jimmer Fredette or Johnny Flynn. At least one is going to be a big time bust.
I think it is safe to assume that Colangelo turned down the 12th pick for Okafor or Noel. Also Jeff Teague for either , Derrick Rose for either and Patrick Beverly for either.

probably shouldve took the teague deal after all i guess. or even some shit deal like beverly now. noels value isnt going to go up at the deadline… and i cant see us resigning him if oak improves and embiid shows skills…

fact of the matter is they were never getting in the top 10 for noel, theres a bunch of free agent bigs many of whom are arguably better than him and will cost teams nothing

As stated numerous times, Nerlens Noel’s is not returning any Top 12 Pick in the Draft… He’s too limited Offensively for todays NBA where a 4 needs to stretch the Court and be able to hit open shots.. Noel’s is also limited down in the Box Offensively where he really doesn’t have any Post Game or the patented quick safe turnaround shot
With these deficiencies, where do you play him on most Teams?
Noel’s is a 6-10″, Athletic, run the floor, rim protector which many Teams could use, but not at the Cost of a Top Half 1st Round Pick in Return..
I thought Noel’s plus 76ers #24 for a early to mid-teens Pick in return could have been out there but 76ers saw some of Players they liked dropping so there probably wasn’t real need to do so…
Bottom line this Draft was just not very Deep for what the 76ers really needed which was Guards/SG after they Selected Ben Simmons at #1
I would expect Adela or two before Camp Opens..
Colangelo would be foolish to move Okafor until Embiid actually proves that he can Play so hang ong onto Okafor for thisSeason and then see how things shakeout ..
Noel’s can be moved for a Veteran PG as he can easily be replaced

Pman — Colangelo turned down an offer for both Teague and Rose so he is still searching for draft pick guards not NBA vets. They are All star experienced vets Rose and Teague.
I don’t think they need to do anything as long as Lebron is the King of the NBA Eastern Conference. Indiana, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta all imploded trying to compete against him over the last 6 years. If Derozen leaves add Toronto too and Miami looks like they imploded too trying to replace him. The smart move is the Hinkie plan. Wait until Lebron gets too old to matter and keep drafting top 14 lottery picks, then pounce when Lebron crumbles. Sixers have 2 studs now Simmons and Embrid. Next year they get 3 chances to land a 3rd stud in the lottery with their 2017 #1, Lakers #1, and Kings swap. They can add Nerlans or Okafor to move up in the draft next year. Maybe they have the 4th overall pick next year and they add Okafor or Nerlans to that 4th overall to move up to number 2 overall and take first guard off the board.

if he turned down rose and or teague then hes a damn fool. i dont like either of those 2 but this guys acting a fool. theres just not enough minutes for noel, oak, embiid, saric… Although theres just no possible way sarics coming here this year because of the log jam so i guess its not really that bad they forced to start a combo of noel/oak/embiid and center/pf and forced to start ben at sf

who cares if one of their centers feelings are hurt when they ride the bench because the other 2 beat them out for minutes. Keep all 3 and play one at a time with the other the backup and the other injury insurance. Sixers aren’t winning anything next year and neither is Phil Jackson, Danny Ainge, Larry Bird, or Pat Riley. Lebron James is winning the east next year and the year after that too. 2 more additional off seasons will fill out the roster. New Orleans should have built the way Minnesota is building with Anthony Davis and the Sixers should add another triplet next year like Minnesota just did with Towns, Wiggins and Dunn. New Orleans made a mistake and rushed the process with these trades you keep wanting ( Gordon, Tyreke Evans and Holliday moves). Sixers have Simmons, Embiid and will get a 3rd stud next draft maybe 2 studs next draft in lottery. If Embiid gets injured again then they have 2 role player centers still in Okafor and Nerlans.
