Notes From The Phillies’ 11-4 Win Over Atlanta

The Philadelphia Phillies won their third straight game on Monday night, taking down the Braves 11-4. Their record improves to 20-35.

On The Mound

  • Nick Pivetta got the start, and earned his first win of the season, going five innings and allowing three runs.
  • Pivetta gave up six hits and three walks.
  • Jeanmar Gomez came on the sixth and pitched two innings, allowing one run.
  • Edubray Ramos worked the eighth.
  • Luis Garcia mopped up in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense exploded for 11 runs on 13 hits.
  • Once again, Odubel Herrera led the charge, going 3-5 with two doubles, a homer, and two RBI’s.
  • Herrera has six doubles, three homers, and eight RBI’s in the last three games.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-5 and drove in two runs.
  • Aaron Altherr busted out of his slump with a 3-4 effort with a homer and three RBI’s.
  • Tommy Joseph went 3-5 with a double and a homer in the first inning, Joseph also drove in three for the night.
  • Maikel Franco went 0-5.
  • Michael Saunders went 1-4 with a single and a walk.
  • Andrew Knapp went 1-5 with a double and an RBI.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-3 with a walk.

Final Thoughts

Three in a row for the Phillies, who have now won half as many games as they did in the entire month of may.

Odubel Herrera has become the first player in Phillies history to have multiple doubles in three games consecutively. His average has shot up from the low 200’s. to nearly .245 during this recent tear.
