Notes From The Phillies’ 3-2 Loss To St. Louis

The Philadelphia Phillies lost their third straight game on Friday night, falling to the Cardinals 3-2. Their record drops to 21-38.

On The Mound

  • Jeremy Hellickson pitched six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits.
  • Casey Fien, just called up from the minors to replace Joely Rodriguez, pitched two scoreless.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up two runs on seven hits.
  • Aaron Altherr had a big night, going 3-4 with two doubles, a triple, and an RBI.
  • Howie Kendrick went 2-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Tommy Joseph went 1-4 and drove in a run.
  • Odubel Herrera kept his hitting streak alive, going 1-4 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco turned in an 0-4, dropping his average to .212.
  • Cesar Hernandez, Andrew Knapp, and Freddy Galvis also went hitless.

Final Thoughts

After a solid four-game winning streak, the Phils have now dropped three straight.

During this latest losing streak, the offense has once again struggled to do any kind of damage against opposing pitching. They haven’t scored more than two runs in any of the last three games, and in two of their losses they managed only one run.
