The Philadelphia Phillies snapped their three-game losing streak on Monday night, taking down the Mariners 8-1. Their record improves to 25-51.

On The Mound

  • Another strong showing for Aaron Nola, who pitched seven strong and gave up just two runs on five hits.
  • Nola struck out five and walked four.
  • Joaquin Benoit pitched a scoreless eighth.
  • Hector Neris got some work in with a scoreless ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense exploded for eight run on nine hits.
  • Daniel Nava hit out of the leadoff spot, going 1-4 with a double and an RBI.
  • Freddy Galvis picked up three hits out of the two-hole, driving in two runs.
  • Howie Kendrick served as the team’s DH, going 0-4 and driving in a run.
  • Aaron Altherr went 1-3 with a two-run homer and also walked twice.
  • Maikel Franco went 2-4 with a homer and a double.
  • Tommy Joseph went 0-4 with a walk.
  • Cameron Rupp went 1-2 with two walks.
  • Cameron Perkins went 1-3 with a single.

Final Thoughts

Another strong showing for Aaron Nola, who seems to finally be putting things together in the major leagues.

The team has won each of Nola’s last two starts, and the young right hander has been able to go deep into the games. Its encouraging to see him develop and become a stopper in this rotation.
