Notes From The Phillies’ 2-1 Loss To New York

The Philadelphia Phillies had their two-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, falling to the Mets 2-1. Their record drops to 25-52.

On The Mound

  • Ben Lively was solid once again, allowing just two runs over 6.1 innings.
  • Lively gave up five hits and four walks.
  • Adam Morgan came on and got the final two outs of the seventh inning without allowing any further damage.
  • Pat Neshek pitched a scoreless eighth.

At The Plate

  • The offense managed just one run on four hits.
  • Ty Kelly drove in the team’s lone run, going 1-3 with a single.
  • Nick Williams got the call up from the minor leagues to replace Howie Kendrick, and went 1-3 in his debut with a single.
  • Odubel Herrera hit out of the leadoff spot, and went 0-3.
  • Freddy Galvis went 0-4 out of the two-hole.
  • Aaron Altherr, Tommy Joseph, and Maikel Franco combined to go 0-12 in the heart of the order.
  • Andrew Knapp went 1-2 with a triple and a walk.
  • Cameron Perkins had a pinch-hit double.

Final Thoughts

Nick Williams wasn’t able to give the offense a spark in his debut, but it was nice to see a prospect that actually has a chance of sticking around in the majors get the call up and an opportunity. The previous call-up, Cameron Perkins, just isn’t an everyday major leaguer, and there was no reason for a guy like Williams to be held up in the minors at this point. on Facebook
