The Philadelphia Phillies lost the first game of their series with Miami, falling 6-5. Their record drops to 30-61.

On The Mound

  • Jerad Eickhoff started, and gave up five runs over six innings.
  • Eickhoff gave up six hits, three walks, and three homers.
  • Hoby Milner and Luis Garcia combined to get through the seventh.
  • Ricardo Pinto, Adam Morgan, and Hector Neris all threw two thirds of a scoreless inning.
  • Mark Leiter took over in the 10th, and gave up the winning run.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up five runs on six hits.
  • Cesar Hernandez returned to the lineup, and went 1-3 with a single, a walk, and drove in a run.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-5 and drove in a run.
  • Odubel Herrera went 0-4 with a walk.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-4 and drove in a run.
  • Nick Williams went 2-5 with two doubles, driving in two runs.
  • Andrew Knapp went 0-3 with two walks.
  • Brock Stassi started at first and went 0-3.

Final Thoughts

After earning his first win before the All-Star break, I hoped that Jerad Eickhoff might pitch a little better now that he has a little momentum in his favor. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Its great to see Cesar Hernandez back in the lineup at second. Watching Andres Blanco and Ty Kelly both serve as almost automatic outs on a day to day basis has been absolutely brutal.
