Notes From The Phillies’ 7-4 Loss To Miami

The Philadelphia Phillies lost the second half of their doubleheader on Tuesday night, falling to the Marlins 7-4. Their record drops to 45-79.

On The Mound

  • Nick Pivetta was a disaster, lasting just 1.1 innings and getting lit up for six runs on seven hits.
  • Pivetta’s ERA has shot up to 6.73.
  • Edubray Ramos came on and pitched 3 scoreless.
  • Yacksel Rios made his season debut, pitching 1.2 scoreless.
  • Jesen Therrien got two outs.
  • Adam Morgan gave up a run in two innings of work.
  • Hoby Milner got the last out of the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up four runs on eight hits.
  • Nick Williams hit a solo homer in the fourth.
  • Andres Blanco hit a homer in the first of the doubleheader, and came back to hit another two-run shot in the fourth inning. Blanco had just one homer for the season entering today’s game.
  • Tommy Joseph hit a solo shot in the sixth.
  • Pedro Florimon started at second and went 1-5 with a single.
  • Rhys Hoskins went 1-3 with a single and a walk.
  • Hyunn Soo Kim went 1-2 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-2 with a double.
  • Jorge Alfaro went 1-4 with a single.

Final Thoughts

A demoralizing doubleheader that ends with two Phillies losses.

The team might want to think about shutting Nick Pivetta down at this point. Pivetta has seen his ERA shoot up from the 4.00’s, to the 5.00’s, to the 6.00’s, and its now dangerously close to the 7.00’s. He’s overmatched right now and his confidence is shot. Get him out and try him again in Spring Training next year. on Facebook
